Dvije pjesme koje spadaju među njezine najveće uspješnice, Dolly Parton je napisala u istom danu, još tamo 1972. godine, obje su objavljene 1974. godine.

Bile su to pjesme "I Will Always Love You" i "Jolene". Za one koji se možda čude, "I Will Always Love You" bila je country pjesma puno prije izvedbe kojom ju je Whitney Houston pretvorila u međunarodni pop-hit.
Mnogi su glazbenici izvodili "Jolene", među njima i Miley Cyrus, koja je Dollyno kumče, a samoj Dolly jedna od najomiljenijih verzija je ona u izvedbi The White Stripes. No, mnogima nije poznato da je pjesmu "I Will Always Love You" želio snimiti i legendarni Elvis Presley. No, kad je njegov menadžer Tom Parker inzistirao da Elvis dobije i polovinu zarade od svoje izvedbe, Dolly je to teška srca odbila.

– Bila je to jedna od najtežih stvari koje sam ikad morala učiniti jer sam voljela Elvisa, ali ta je pjesma bila moje najvrjednije autorsko pravo – kazala je u jednom razgovoru Dolly.

Naravno, bila je u pravu, pokazalo se to kad je Whitney izvela pjesmu i učinila Dolly još puno bogatijom. Danas se njezino bogatstvo procjenjuje na oko 600 milijuna dolara. Svoje poslovno umijeće Dolly duguje ocu Robertu Leeju Partonu, koji je bio nepismen, ali njegova slavna kći kaže kako je bio jedan od najpametnijih ljudi koje je ikad susrela kad se radi o biznisu i zaradi.
Dobar nos za posao njezinu je ocu bio itekako potreban jer je trebalo prehraniti obitelj, u kojoj je njegova supruga Avie Lee Caroline u 20 godina, do svoje 35. godine, rodila dvanaestero djece.

Dolly Rebecca Parton rođena je 19. siječnja 1946. godine u jednosobnoj kolibi u mjestu Pittman Center na obali rijeke Little Pigeon u Tennesseeju. Od majke je Dolly naslijedila glazbeni talent, a dan nakon što je maturirala 1964. godine, preselila se u Nashville, gdje je na početku postala poznata po pisanju pjesama za druge izvođače. Svoj debitantski album, "Hello, I'm Dolly", objavila je 1967. godine, a ostalo je, kako se običava reći, povijest.

Poziranje za Playboy

Pjevačica, skladateljica, multiinstrumentalistica, glazbena producentica, glumica, autorica, poslovna žena i humanitarka, Dolly je osvojila deset nagrada Grammy od 49 nominacija, napisala je više od tri tisuće skladbi, a spada i u malobrojnu skupinu umjetnika koji imaju barem po jednu nominaciju za nagrade Oscar, Grammy, Tony i Emmy.

No, country legenda nema namjeru povući se u mirovinu, neumorno radi na različitim frontama, a nedavno je otkrila i da pregovara s Playboyem o poziranju za slavni magazin u povodu svoga 75. rođendana. Dolly će 75. rođendan proslaviti u siječnju, a nakon što je svojedobno odbila brojne ponude da za Playboy pozira gola, krasila je naslovnicu izdanja toga magazina u listopadu 1978. godine u kostimu zečice.

Dolly kaže kako je uvjet za poziranje "dobar ukus", ali i naglasila da njezine 40DD grudi, koje su osigurane na oko 600.000 dolara, još uvijek mogu stati u kostim zečice u kojemu je svojedobno pozirala.

Još prije nego što je objavila prvi album, Dolly se 30. svibnja 1966. udala za Carla Thomasa Deana i još uvijek su u braku. Dean je uvijek izbjegavao svjetla reflektora i vrlo rijetko je pratio suprugu na različita događanja, Dolly kaže kako je samo jednom gledao njezin nastup.

Premda je u njezinoj sjeni, Dolly kaže kako Dean ima vrlo romantičnu stranu i priprema joj iznenađenja, ponekad joj čak piše pjesme. Dolly je svojedobno izjavila kako su oboje vrlo ponosni na svoj brak, prvi i zadnji za njih oboje, a u svibnju 2016. obnovili su bračne zavjete u povodu 50. godišnjice braka.
Njih dvoje su odgojili nekoliko Dollynih mlađih braće i sestara u Nashvilleu, zbog čega je nećakinje i nećaci zovu "teta baka" (aunt granny). Zbog endometrioze Dolly se morala podvrgnuti histerektomiji pa ona i Dean nemaju vlastite djece.

Velika humanitarka

Već desetljećima Dolly podupire brojne humanitarne aktivnosti, naročito na području nepismenosti, prvenstveno kroz svoju Dollywood Foundation.

Njezin program opismenjavanja, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, koji je započet u Rotherhamu u Velikoj Britaniji, šalje jednu knjigu mjesečno svakom upisanom djetetu od rođenja do polaska u vrtić. Trenutačno više od 1600 lokalnih zajednica svakog mjeseca dostavlja knjige za oko 850.000 djece u SAD-u, Kanadi, Velikoj Britaniji, Australiji i Irskoj.

Prije dvije godine je američka kongresna biblioteka odala počast slavnoj glazbenici u povodu slanja stomilijunte knjige u okviru njezine humanitarne zaklade.

Početkom listopada Dolly je objavila svoj najnoviji album, "A Holly Dolly Christmas", koji je njezin 47. studijski i treći božićni album. Legendarna glazbenica još će neko vrijeme biti u božićnom duhu jer će biti izvršna producentica i glumit će u Netflixovu filmu "Christmas On The Square", temeljenom na njezinoj istoimenoj pjesmi. U glumačkoj postavi su još Christine Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams, Josh Segarra i Jeanine Mason.

Dvije pjesme koje spadaju među njezine najveće uspješnice, Dolly Parton je napisala u istom danu, još tamo 1972. godine, obje su objavljene 1974. godine.

Bile su to pjesme "I Will Always Love You" i "Jolene". Za one koji se možda čude, "I Will Always Love You" bila je country pjesma puno prije izvedbe kojom ju je Whitney Houston pretvorila u međunarodni pop-hit.
Mnogi su glazbenici izvodili "Jolene", među njima i Miley Cyrus, koja je Dollyno kumče, a samoj Dolly jedna od najomiljenijih verzija je ona u izvedbi The White Stripes. No, mnogima nije poznato da je pjesmu "I Will Always Love You" želio snimiti i legendarni Elvis Presley. No, kad je njegov menadžer Tom Parker inzistirao da Elvis dobije i polovinu zarade od svoje izvedbe, Dolly je to teška srca odbila.

– Bila je to jedna od najtežih stvari koje sam ikad morala učiniti jer sam voljela Elvisa, ali ta je pjesma bila moje najvrjednije autorsko pravo – kazala je u jednom razgovoru Dolly.

Naravno, bila je u pravu, pokazalo se to kad je Whitney izvela pjesmu i učinila Dolly još puno bogatijom. Danas se njezino bogatstvo procjenjuje na oko 600 milijuna dolara. Svoje poslovno umijeće Dolly duguje ocu Robertu Leeju Partonu, koji je bio nepismen, ali njegova slavna kći kaže kako je bio jedan od najpametnijih ljudi koje je ikad susrela kad se radi o biznisu i zaradi.
Dobar nos za posao njezinu je ocu bio itekako potreban jer je trebalo prehraniti obitelj, u kojoj je njegova supruga Avie Lee Caroline u 20 godina, do svoje 35. godine, rodila dvanaestero djece.

Dolly Rebecca Parton rođena je 19. siječnja 1946. godine u jednosobnoj kolibi u mjestu Pittman Center na obali rijeke Little Pigeon u Tennesseeju. Od majke je Dolly naslijedila glazbeni talent, a dan nakon što je maturirala 1964. godine, preselila se u Nashville, gdje je na početku postala poznata po pisanju pjesama za druge izvođače. Svoj debitantski album, "Hello, I'm Dolly", objavila je 1967. godine, a ostalo je, kako se običava reći, povijest.

Poziranje za Playboy

Pjevačica, skladateljica, multiinstrumentalistica, glazbena producentica, glumica, autorica, poslovna žena i humanitarka, Dolly je osvojila deset nagrada Grammy od 49 nominacija, napisala je više od tri tisuće skladbi, a spada i u malobrojnu skupinu umjetnika koji imaju barem po jednu nominaciju za nagrade Oscar, Grammy, Tony i Emmy.

No, country legenda nema namjeru povući se u mirovinu, neumorno radi na različitim frontama, a nedavno je otkrila i da pregovara s Playboyem o poziranju za slavni magazin u povodu svoga 75. rođendana. Dolly će 75. rođendan proslaviti u siječnju, a nakon što je svojedobno odbila brojne ponude da za Playboy pozira gola, krasila je naslovnicu izdanja toga magazina u listopadu 1978. godine u kostimu zečice.

Dolly kaže kako je uvjet za poziranje "dobar ukus", ali i naglasila da njezine 40DD grudi, koje su osigurane na oko 600.000 dolara, još uvijek mogu stati u kostim zečice u kojemu je svojedobno pozirala.

Još prije nego što je objavila prvi album, Dolly se 30. svibnja 1966. udala za Carla Thomasa Deana i još uvijek su u braku. Dean je uvijek izbjegavao svjetla reflektora i vrlo rijetko je pratio suprugu na različita događanja, Dolly kaže kako je samo jednom gledao njezin nastup.

Premda je u njezinoj sjeni, Dolly kaže kako Dean ima vrlo romantičnu stranu i priprema joj iznenađenja, ponekad joj čak piše pjesme. Dolly je svojedobno izjavila kako su oboje vrlo ponosni na svoj brak, prvi i zadnji za njih oboje, a u svibnju 2016. obnovili su bračne zavjete u povodu 50. godišnjice braka.
Njih dvoje su odgojili nekoliko Dollynih mlađih braće i sestara u Nashvilleu, zbog čega je nećakinje i nećaci zovu "teta baka" (aunt granny). Zbog endometrioze Dolly se morala podvrgnuti histerektomiji pa ona i Dean nemaju vlastite djece.

Velika humanitarka

Već desetljećima Dolly podupire brojne humanitarne aktivnosti, naročito na području nepismenosti, prvenstveno kroz svoju Dollywood Foundation.

Njezin program opismenjavanja, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, koji je započet u Rotherhamu u Velikoj Britaniji, šalje jednu knjigu mjesečno svakom upisanom djetetu od rođenja do polaska u vrtić. Trenutačno više od 1600 lokalnih zajednica svakog mjeseca dostavlja knjige za oko 850.000 djece u SAD-u, Kanadi, Velikoj Britaniji, Australiji i Irskoj.

Prije dvije godine je američka kongresna biblioteka odala počast slavnoj glazbenici u povodu slanja stomilijunte knjige u okviru njezine humanitarne zaklade.

Početkom listopada Dolly je objavila svoj najnoviji album, "A Holly Dolly Christmas", koji je njezin 47. studijski i treći božićni album. Legendarna glazbenica još će neko vrijeme biti u božićnom duhu jer će biti izvršna producentica i glumit će u Netflixovu filmu "Christmas On The Square", temeljenom na njezinoj istoimenoj pjesmi. U glumačkoj postavi su još Christine Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams, Josh Segarra i Jeanine Mason.
