Le Duc Tho je prva i jedina osoba koja je odbila Nobelovu nagradu za mir, javlja National Geographic. 

Nagradu su trebali dobiti vijetnamski političar Le Duc Tho i američki državni tajnik Henry Kissinger za pregovore o mirovnom sporazumu u Vijetnamskom ratu.

Najveći razlog za kontroverzu bio je očit: unatoč radu ovih političara, rat u Vijetnamu se nastavio. Mnogi su tvrdili da su Tho i Kissinger odgovorni za početak rata, a ne za njegovo zaustavljanje. 

Le Duc Tho se složio da u Vijetnamu nije postignut mir i da je njegov protivnik zloupotrijebio i prekršio primirje. Odbio je primiti nagradu i rekao da će preispitati je li u njegovoj zemlji postignut mir, ali da će njegova odluka ostati ista.

Tako je dodjela Nobelove nagrade za mir 1973. zabilježena kao jedna od najkontroverznijih: prvo je Le Duc To odbio primiti nagradu, a potom se Kissinger nije pojavio na dodjeli, pa su dva člana komisije za odabir Nobelove nagrade povukla. 

Kritičari su Kissingera optužili da je umiješan u tajni bombaški napad u Kambodži, a pravi mir u Vijetnamu postignut je tek dvije godine kasnije. 

- Od potpisivanja sporazuma u Parizu, Sjedinjene Države i administracija Saigona nastavili su ozbiljno kršiti niz odredbi ovog sporazuma. Saigonska uprava je uz pomoć Sjedinjenih Država nastavila rat. Mir u Južnom Vijetnamu još nije postignut. U ovim okolnostima nemoguće mi je prihvatiti Nobelovu nagradu za mir koju mi ​​je dodijelila komisija. Nakon što Pariški sporazum bude poštovan u Vijetnamu, vojska ušutkana i kada se u južnom Vijetnamu proglasi pravi mir, moći ću ponovno razmotriti prihvaćanje ove nagrade. Tražim od odbora za Nobelovu nagradu da prihvati moju ispriku, objasnio je tada Le Duc odbijanje nagrade.

Le Duc Tho je prva i jedina osoba koja je odbila Nobelovu nagradu za mir, javlja National Geographic. 

Nagradu su trebali dobiti vijetnamski političar Le Duc Tho i američki državni tajnik Henry Kissinger za pregovore o mirovnom sporazumu u Vijetnamskom ratu.

Najveći razlog za kontroverzu bio je očit: unatoč radu ovih političara, rat u Vijetnamu se nastavio. Mnogi su tvrdili da su Tho i Kissinger odgovorni za početak rata, a ne za njegovo zaustavljanje. 

Le Duc Tho se složio da u Vijetnamu nije postignut mir i da je njegov protivnik zloupotrijebio i prekršio primirje. Odbio je primiti nagradu i rekao da će preispitati je li u njegovoj zemlji postignut mir, ali da će njegova odluka ostati ista.

Tako je dodjela Nobelove nagrade za mir 1973. zabilježena kao jedna od najkontroverznijih: prvo je Le Duc To odbio primiti nagradu, a potom se Kissinger nije pojavio na dodjeli, pa su dva člana komisije za odabir Nobelove nagrade povukla. 

Kritičari su Kissingera optužili da je umiješan u tajni bombaški napad u Kambodži, a pravi mir u Vijetnamu postignut je tek dvije godine kasnije. 

- Od potpisivanja sporazuma u Parizu, Sjedinjene Države i administracija Saigona nastavili su ozbiljno kršiti niz odredbi ovog sporazuma. Saigonska uprava je uz pomoć Sjedinjenih Država nastavila rat. Mir u Južnom Vijetnamu još nije postignut. U ovim okolnostima nemoguće mi je prihvatiti Nobelovu nagradu za mir koju mi ​​je dodijelila komisija. Nakon što Pariški sporazum bude poštovan u Vijetnamu, vojska ušutkana i kada se u južnom Vijetnamu proglasi pravi mir, moći ću ponovno razmotriti prihvaćanje ove nagrade. Tražim od odbora za Nobelovu nagradu da prihvati moju ispriku, objasnio je tada Le Duc odbijanje nagrade.

Le Duc Tho je prva i jedina osoba koja je odbila Nobelovu nagradu za mir, javlja National Geographic. 

Nagradu su trebali dobiti vijetnamski političar Le Duc Tho i američki državni tajnik Henry Kissinger za pregovore o mirovnom sporazumu u Vijetnamskom ratu.

Najveći razlog za kontroverzu bio je očit: unatoč radu ovih političara, rat u Vijetnamu se nastavio. Mnogi su tvrdili da su Tho i Kissinger odgovorni za početak rata, a ne za njegovo zaustavljanje. 

Le Duc Tho se složio da u Vijetnamu nije postignut mir i da je njegov protivnik zloupotrijebio i prekršio primirje. Odbio je primiti nagradu i rekao da će preispitati je li u njegovoj zemlji postignut mir, ali da će njegova odluka ostati ista.

Tako je dodjela Nobelove nagrade za mir 1973. zabilježena kao jedna od najkontroverz...
