Kći hvarskog iseljenika V. Vidoševića prije nekoliko desetljeća posjetila je očev dom u Vrbnju i tamo našla omotnicu koju je 1927. poslao bratu iz Kalifornije.
Iseljeničko pismo iz davnine” tako je došlo u ruke njezine nećakinje, tada studentice na kalifornijskom sveučilištu. Djedovo pismo kod mlade Beverly probudilo je zanimanje za korijene pa je odlučila napisati diplomski rad o iseljavanju Hrvata u Sjedinjene Američke Države od 1880. do 1910. godine. Svoju tezu je uspješno obranila, stekla je diplomu i ostala na fakultetu kao predavač. Jedno vrijeme bavila se i novinarstvom, piše portal Dijaspora.
Pismo je pohranila u jednom kalifornijskom arhivu. No, jedna kopija došla je u ruke Šimuna Ujdura!

“Sanger, June-26-1927. Dragi Brate, Nazad njekoliko dana sam primio tvoje pismo u kome sam sverazumi. Drago mi je čuti da si zdravo sa svojom obitelji. Ali mije žao čuti o smrti naše pokojne Majke. Jasan se više naučio nevolji, prvo nego jedna zaraste dođe mi druga. Dakle što pišeš od našega stanja u domovini daće se podjelit aštoću ja učinit. Jasan čuo daje pok. otac učinio ne dobar Tastament, tako ja neznam kako će se to djelit ni što za koga ide ali kada dođe naloga jaću poslat Bratu Marinu prokuru da on uzme što mene ide, tojest da on radi i žive sa onim dokle ja dođem doma ako igda dođe do toga ali se bojin daće to doć kasno.
Kroz to vrime tićeš štogod čut od Brata Marina pami javi i štobi bilo naj bolje učinit. Štomi pišeš da jesan lise što pomogao. Dragi Brate dati pravo rečem dasam upravo na putu. Svaku godinu štotod dođe a ove godine vela suša tako nemoguse ni pure hranit neznan štoću ni kakoću što mislin da nema nesritnijega domene, dosta puta mi dođe napamet da samo učinim pašaj dabih pošao doma opet brat pločje u rudinu. Ali kobi to od srama učinio, već ću stati ovdje i patit i kada i kako se naplakat.
Eto vidiš u kome sam stanju ali fala Bogu. Dakle za sad ti neću više nadalje već Primi pozdrav sasvom obitelji od mene i moje i Pozdravimi sestru Luciju i Brata Andriju akoga vidiš ostajem Tvoj Brat V. Vidoševich, R. B. Box. 16. Sanger California, USA”.

Kći hvarskog iseljenika V. Vidoševića prije nekoliko desetljeća posjetila je očev dom u Vrbnju i tamo našla omotnicu koju je 1927. poslao bratu iz Kalifornije.
Iseljeničko pismo iz davnine” tako je došlo u ruke njezine nećakinje, tada studentice na kalifornijskom sveučilištu. Djedovo pismo kod mlade Beverly probudilo je zanimanje za korijene pa je odlučila napisati diplomski rad o iseljavanju Hrvata u Sjedinjene Američke Države od 1880. do 1910. godine. Svoju tezu je uspješno obranila, stekla je diplomu i ostala na fakultetu kao predavač. Jedno vrijeme bavila se i novinarstvom, piše portal Dijaspora.
Pismo je pohranila u jednom kalifornijskom arhivu. No, jedna kopija došla je u ruke Šimuna Ujdura!

“Sanger, June-26-1927. Dragi Brate, Nazad njekoliko dana sam primio tvoje pismo u kome sam sverazumi. Drago mi je čuti da si zdravo sa svojom obitelji. Ali mije žao čuti o smrti naše pokojne Majke. A što ćemo učinit nego zafalit Bogu. Evo nam je umrio Otac i Majka ja nebih bio ni znao dami ti nisi pisao ali fala Bogu.

Jasan se više naučio nevolji, prvo nego jedna zaraste dođe mi druga. Dakle što pišeš od našega stanja u domovini daće se podjelit aštoću ja učinit. Jasan čuo daje pok. otac učinio ne dobar Tastament, tako ja neznam kako će se to djelit ni što za koga ide ali kada dođe naloga jaću poslat Bratu Marinu prokuru da on uzme što mene ide, tojest da on radi i žive sa onim dokle ja dođem doma ako igda dođe do toga ali se bojin daće to doć kasno.
Kroz to vrime tićeš štogod čut od Brata Marina pami javi i štobi bilo naj bolje učinit. Štomi pišeš da jesan lise što pomogao. Dragi Brate dati pravo rečem dasam upravo na putu. Svaku godinu štotod dođe a ove godine vela suša tako nemoguse ni pure hranit neznan štoću ni kakoću što mislin da nema nesritnijega domene, dosta puta mi dođe napamet da samo učinim pašaj dabih pošao doma opet brat pločje u rudinu. Ali kobi to od srama učinio, već ću stati ovdje i patit i kada i kako se naplakat.
Eto vidiš u kome sam stanju ali fala Bogu. Dakle za sad ti neću više nadalje već Primi pozdrav sasvom obitelji od mene i moje i Pozdravimi sestru Luciju i Brata Andriju akoga vidiš ostajem Tvoj Brat V. Vidoševich, R. B. Box. 16. Sanger California, USA”.
