Brojni zaljubljenici u vježbanje i fitness koriste taurin. To je vrsta kemikalije koja se naziva još aminosulfonska kiselina, a prirodno se javlja u tijelu. Najbolji izvori su meso, riba i jaja, ali i dodatci prehrani. U obliku dodatka prehrani obično se koristi za bolju sportsku izvedbu, sprječavanje umora, a čini se da može pomoći i u borbi protiv starenja. Naime, studija Sveučilišta Columbia na miševima je otkrila da dodatak prehrani taurin može produžiti život do deset. Također je otkriveno da može poboljšati zdravlje sredovječnih ljudi suzbijanjem debljanja povezanog sa starenjem te ojačati imunitet, prenosi Science Alert.
Iako se ova kemikalija prirodno proizvodi u tijelu, proizvodnja brzo opada s godinama. Glavni autor studije Vijay Yadav, asistent profesora genetike i razvoja, rekao je da rezultati sugeriraju da bi se dodaci taurina mogli koristiti kao lijek protiv starenja, piše Živim.
Kako je provedeno istraživanje?
Kao dio svog istraživanja, koje je objavljeno u časopisu Science, znanstvenici su hranili 250 14-mjesečnih ženki i mužjaka miševa, što je oko 45 godina u ljudskim okvirima, taurinom ili placebom. Na kraju eksperimenta, Yadav i njegov tim otkrili su da je taurin produljuje prosječni životni vijek ženki miševa za 12 posto, a za 10 posto kod mužjaka.
Miševi su tako živjeli tri do četiri mjeseca duže, što je jednako sedam do osam ljudskih godina.
U odvojenoj studiji, Yadav je otkrio da su svi miševi u dobi od dvije godine (60 u ljudskim godinama) koji su hranjeni taurinom bili zdraviji od netretiranih parnjaka.
Taurin je spriječio debljanje, povećao potrošnju energije, pojačao koštanu masu, smanjio depresiju, tjeskobu i inzulinsku rezistenciju koja je povezana s dijabetesom.
- Ne samo da smo otkrili da su životinje živjele duže, otkrili smo i da žive zdravije - rekao je stručnjak.
Ilaria Bellantuono, profesorica za muskularno starenje sa Sveučilište u Sheffieldu, upozorila je ljude da ne koriste dodatke taurina za mršavljenje.
- Prvo, moramo vidjeti djeluje li dobro i kod starijih organizama (miševa ili majmuna) kada su znakovi starenja izraženiji. Drugo, moramo testirati taurin u kliničkom ispitivanju kako bismo razumjeli je li učinkovit i kakve su nuspojave, treba li ga uzimati kontinuirano i od koje dobi - istaknula je.
Treba naglasiti da djelotvornost ove aminokiseline u smislu dugovječnosti nije ispitana na ljudima, već samo na životinjama te da se prije uzimanja bilo kojih dodatak prehrani treba konzultirati s liječnikom ili ljekarnikom, piše Živim.

Brojni zaljubljenici u vježbanje i fitness koriste taurin. To je vrsta kemikalije koja se naziva još aminosulfonska kiselina, a prirodno se javlja u tijelu. Naime, studija Sveučilišta Columbia na miševima je otkrila da dodatak prehrani taurin može produžiti život do deset. Također je otkriveno da može poboljšati zdravlje sredovječnih ljudi suzbijanjem debljanja povezanog sa starenjem te ojačati imunitet, prenosi Science Alert.
Iako se ova kemikalija prirodno proizvodi u tijelu, proizvodnja brzo opada s godinama. Glavni autor studije Vijay Yadav, asistent profesora genetike i razvoja, rekao je da rezultati sugeriraju da bi se dodaci taurina mogli koristiti kao lijek protiv starenja, piše Živim.
Kako je provedeno istraživanje?
Kao dio svog istraživanja, koje je objavljeno u časopisu Science, znanstvenici su hranili 250 14-mjesečnih ženki i mužjaka miševa, što je oko 45 godina u ljudskim okvirima, taurinom ili placebom. Na kraju eksperimenta, Yadav i njegov tim otkrili su da je taurin produljuje prosječni životni vijek ženki miševa za 12 posto, a za 10 posto kod mužjaka.
Miševi su tako živjeli tri do četiri mjeseca duže, što je jednako sedam do osam ljudskih godina.
U odvojenoj studiji, Yadav je otkrio da su svi miševi u dobi od dvije godine (60 u ljudskim godinama) koji su hranjeni taurinom bili zdraviji od netretiranih parnjaka.
Taurin je spriječio debljanje, povećao potrošnju energije, pojačao koštanu masu, smanjio depresiju, tjeskobu i inzulinsku rezistenciju koja je povezana s dijabetesom.
- Ne samo da smo otkrili da su životinje živjele duže, otkrili smo i da žive zdravije - rekao je stručnjak.
Ilaria Bellantuono, profesorica za muskularno starenje sa Sveučilište u Sheffieldu, upozorila je ljude da ne koriste dodatke taurina za mršavljenje.
- Prvo, moramo vidjeti djeluje li dobro i kod starijih organizama (miševa ili majmuna) kada su znakovi starenja izraženiji. Drugo, moramo testirati taurin u kliničkom ispitivanju kako bismo razumjeli je li učinkovit i kakve su nuspojave, treba li ga uzimati kontinuirano i od koje dobi - istaknula je.
Treba naglasiti da djelotvornost ove aminokiseline u smislu dugovječnosti nije ispitana na ljudima, već samo na životinjama te da se prije uzimanja bilo kojih dodatak prehrani treba konzultirati s liječnikom ili ljekarnikom, piše Živim.
