Pušenje cigareta je broj jedan čimbenik rizika za rak pluća. Pa opet, većina pušača ga ne razvije. Nova studija ide u prilog ideji da genetika ima ulogu u tome, prenosi Zimo.

Duhanski dim se dugo povezivao s izazivanjem oštećenja DNK u plućima, ali nova studija je pokazala da nisu svi pušači izloženi jednakom riziku od razvoja raka pluća. Među ljudima koji puše, ali nikad ne razviju rak pluća, znanstvenici su pronašli urođenu prednost.

Rezultati nove studije objavljene u znanstvenom časopisu 'Nature' sugeriraju da su geni za popravak DNK aktivniji među nekim pojedincima, što može spriječiti nastanak raka. Drugim riječima, kod nekih je pojedinaca manje vjerojatno da će stanice koje oblažu njihova pluća mutirati tijekom vremena.

Kako navodi Zimo, istraživanju su korišteni genetski profili uzeti iz bronhija 14 nepušača i 19 lakih, umjerenih i teških pušača. Površinske stanice prikupljene iz pluća sudionika sekvencionirane su pojedinačno kako bi se izmjerile mutacije u njihovim genomima. Ove stanice mogu preživjeti desetljećima, zbog čega mogu akumulirati mutacije. Od svih tipova stanica pluća, one su među najvjerojatnijim da postanu kancerozne, objašnjava epidemiolog i pulmolog Simon Spivack s Medicinskog fakulteta 'Albert Einstein'.

Dok je količina cigareta koju netko popuši bila povezana s povećanjem stope mutacije stanica, nakon otprilike 23 godine pušenja jedne kutije dnevno, taj rizik doseže svoj vrhunac.

Studija je pokazala da najveći pušači nisu imali najveće opterećenje mutacijom. 

Ovi rezultati mogli bi objasniti zašto 80 do 90 posto doživotnih pušača nikad ne dobije rak pluća te zašto mnogi unatoč pušenju ne razviju tumore. 

Ono što čini tijelo pojedinca boljim u popravljanju DNK još je uvijek predmet rasprave i vjerojatno je komplicirano, a znanstvenici namjeravaju razviti testove koji bi taj potencijala mogli izmjeriti, kako bi ponudili novi način procjene rizika od raka, piše Zimo.

Pušenje cigareta je broj jedan čimbenik rizika za rak pluća. Pa opet, većina pušača ga ne razvije. Nova studija ide u prilog ideji da genetika ima ulogu u tome, prenosi Zimo.

Duhanski dim se dugo povezivao s izazivanjem oštećenja DNK u plućima, ali nova studija je pokazala da nisu svi pušači izloženi jednakom riziku od razvoja raka pluća. Među ljudima koji puše, ali nikad ne razviju rak pluća, znanstvenici su pronašli urođenu prednost.

Rezultati nove studije objavljene u znanstvenom časopisu 'Nature' sugeriraju da su geni za popravak DNK aktivniji među nekim pojedincima, što može spriječiti nastanak raka. Drugim riječima, kod nekih je pojedinaca manje vjerojatno da će stanice koje oblažu njihova pluća mutirati tijekom vremena.

Kako navodi Zimo, istraživanju su korišteni genetski profili uzeti iz bronhija 14 nepušača i 19 lakih, umjerenih i teških pušača. Površinske stanice prikupljene iz pluća sudionika sekvencionirane su pojedinačno kako bi se izmjerile mutacije u njihovim genomima. Ove stanice mogu preživjeti desetljećima, zbog čega mogu akumulirati mutacije. Od svih tipova stanica pluća, one su među najvjerojatnijim da postanu kancerozne, objašnjava epidemiolog i pulmolog Simon Spivack s Medicinskog fakulteta 'Albert Einstein'.

Dok je količina cigareta koju netko popuši bila povezana s povećanjem stope mutacije stanica, nakon otprilike 23 godine pušenja jedne kutije dnevno, taj rizik doseže svoj vrhunac.

Studija je pokazala da najveći pušači nisu imali najveće opterećenje mutacijom. 

Ovi rezultati mogli bi objasniti zašto 80 do 90 posto doživotnih pušača nikad ne dobije rak pluća te zašto mnogi unatoč pušenju ne razviju tumore. 

Ono što čini tijelo pojedinca boljim u popravljanju DNK još je uvijek predmet rasprave i vjerojatno je komplicirano, a znanstvenici namjeravaju razviti testove koji bi taj potencijala mogli izmjeriti, kako bi ponudili novi način procjene rizika od raka, piše Zimo.

Pušenje cigareta je broj jedan čimbenik rizika za rak pluća. Pa opet, većina pušača ga ne razvije. Nova studija ide u prilog ideji da genetika ima ulogu u tome, prenosi Zimo.

Duhanski dim se dugo povezivao s izazivanjem oštećenja DNK u plućima, ali nova studija je pokazala da nisu svi pušači izloženi jednakom riziku od razvoja raka pluća. Među ljudima koji puše, ali nikad ne razviju rak pluća, znanstvenici su pronašli urođenu prednost.

Rezultati nove studije objavljene u znanstvenom časopisu 'Nature' sugeriraju da su geni za popravak DNK aktivniji među nekim pojedincima, što može spriječiti nastanak raka. Drugim riječima, kod nekih je pojedinaca manje vjerojatno da će stanice koje oblažu njihova pluća mutirati tijekom vremena.
