Sve više stanovnika SAD-a razvija rijetku alergiju na meso i to zbog uboda uboda krpelja, kažu znanstvenici, a možda je već zahvaćeno i 450 tisuća ljudi, javlja BBC.

Novi podaci koje je prošloga četvrtka objavio Centar za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC) pokazuju nagli porast slučajeva alfa -gal sindroma (AGS), ozbiljnog, po život opasnog alergijskog stanja. Simptomi AGS-a javljaju se nakon konzumacije mesa životinja koje je ugrizao krpelj.

Američki znanstvenici uzrok problema su pronašli u slini krpelja koji je poznat i kao "Usamljena zvijezda". Ova vrsta krpelja ima bijelu mrlju na leđima i uglavnom se nalazi u južnim i istočnim dijelovima SAD-a. Uz to, stručnjaci upozoravaju da se zbog klimatskih promjena njihovo stanište širi.

Čovjek se može razboljeti jedući meso ili mesne prerađevine životinje koju je ugrizao krpelj Usamljena zvijezda, latinskog naziva Amblyomma americanum.

Popis namirnica koje mogu izazvati alfa-gal sindrom uključuje svinjetinu, govedinu, zečetinu, janjetinu, divljač, želatinu, mlijeko, neke mliječne proizvode pa i određene lijekove koji sadrže komponente dobivene iz životinjskih organizama. Jaja nisu opasna.

Neki od simptoma ovog nedovoljno istraženog sindroma su grčevi u želucu, proljev, koprivnjača (crveni osip na koži) i nedostatak zraka koji mogu dovesti do anafilaksije - teške alergijske reakcije koja može biti i smrtonosna.

Detektiranje prvih simptoma ovisi o metabolizmu i trajanju probave.

Prema CDC-u, od 2010. godine otkriveno je više od 110 tisuća slučajeva. Od 2017. do 2021. godine broj slučajeva se povećavao za oko 15 tisuća godišnje.

Prošlogodišnja anketa u kojoj je sudjelovalo 1500 liječnika i zdravstvenih djelatnika pokazala je da 42 posto njih nikada nije čulo za alfa-gal.

Trećina liječnika izjavila je da "nisu baš sigurni" u vlastitu sposobnost identificiranja bolesti, prema rezultatima istraživanja koje je CDC objavio u četvrtak, 27. srpnja. Samo pet posto njih reklo je da su "vrlo sigurni" u to da mogu pravilno dijagnosticirati stanje.

Sindrom je otkriven tek 2008. godine, slučajno, nakon što su američki istraživači došli do neočekivanih rezultata tijekom testiranja jednog lijeka protiv karcinoma.

Paralizni krpelj (Ixodes holocyclus), također je prouzročio slične alergije na meso u Australiji.

Inače, premda se AGS sindrom još istražuje, odavno je poznato da su krpelji opasni nametnici čiji ugrizi mogu izazvati nekoliko opasnih bolesti, poput lajmske bolesti, a najčešće napadaju tijekom toplih mjeseci.

Ljudima se savjetuje da pokriju izložene dijelove tijela kada su vani, koriste sredstva za zaštitu od insekata i nakon boravka u prirodi provjeravaju imaju li uboda na tijelu.

Sve više stanovnika SAD-a razvija rijetku alergiju na meso i to zbog uboda uboda krpelja, kažu znanstvenici, a možda je već zahvaćeno i 450 tisuća ljudi, javlja BBC.

Novi podaci koje je prošloga četvrtka objavio Centar za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC) pokazuju nagli porast slučajeva alfa -gal sindroma (AGS), ozbiljnog, po život opasnog alergijskog stanja. Simptomi AGS-a javljaju se nakon konzumacije mesa životinja koje je ugrizao krpelj.

Američki znanstvenici uzrok problema su pronašli u slini krpelja koji je poznat i kao "Usamljena zvijezda". Ova vrsta krpelja ima bijelu mrlju na leđima i uglavnom se nalazi u južnim i istočnim dijelovima SAD-a. Uz to, stručnjaci upozoravaju da se zbog klimatskih promjena njihovo stanište širi.

Čovjek se može razboljeti jedući meso ili mesne prerađevine životinje koju je ugrizao krpelj Usamljena zvijezda, latinskog naziva Amblyomma americanum.

Popis namirnica koje mogu izazvati alfa-gal sindrom uključuje svinjetinu, govedinu, zečetinu, janjetinu, divljač, želatinu, mlijeko, neke mliječne proizvode pa i određene lijekove koji sadrže komponente dobivene iz životinjskih organizama. Jaja nisu opasna.

Neki od simptoma ovog nedovoljno istraženog sindroma su grčevi u želucu, proljev, koprivnjača (crveni osip na koži) i nedostatak zraka koji mogu dovesti do anafilaksije - teške alergijske reakcije koja može biti i smrtonosna.

Detektiranje prvih simptoma ovisi o metabolizmu i trajanju probave.

Prema CDC-u, od 2010. godine otkriveno je više od 110 tisuća slučajeva. Od 2017. do 2021. godine broj slučajeva se povećavao za oko 15 tisuća godišnje.

Trećina liječnika izjavila je da "nisu baš sigurni" u vlastitu sposobnost identificiranja bolesti, prema rezultatima istraživanja koje je CDC objavio u četvrtak, 27. srpnja. Samo pet posto njih reklo je da su "vrlo sigurni" u to da mogu pravilno dijagnosticirati stanje.

Sindrom je otkriven tek 2008. godine, slučajno, nakon što su američki istraživači došli do neočekivanih rezultata tijekom testiranja jednog lijeka protiv karcinoma.

Paralizni krpelj (Ixodes holocyclus), također je prouzročio slične alergije na meso u Australiji.

Inače, premda se AGS sindrom još istražuje, odavno je poznato da su krpelji opasni nametnici čiji ugrizi mogu izazvati nekoliko opasnih bolesti, poput lajmske bolesti, a najčešće napadaju tijekom toplih mjeseci.

Ljudima se savjetuje da pokriju izložene dijelove tijela kada su vani, koriste sredstva za zaštitu od insekata i nakon boravka u prirodi provjeravaju imaju li uboda na tijelu.

Sve više stanovnika SAD-a razvija rijetku alergiju na meso i to zbog uboda uboda krpelja, kažu znanstvenici, a možda je već zahvaćeno i 450 tisuća ljudi, javlja BBC.

Novi podaci koje je prošloga četvrtka objavio Centar za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC) pokazuju nagli porast slučajeva alfa -gal sindroma (AGS), ozbiljnog, po život opasnog alergijskog stanja. Simptomi AGS-a javljaju se nakon konzumacije mesa životinja koje je ugrizao krpelj.

Američki znanstvenici uzrok problema su pronašli u slini krpelja koji je poznat i kao "Usamljena zvijezda". Ova vrsta krpelja ima bijelu mrlju na leđima i uglavnom se nalazi u južnim i istočnim dijelovima SAD-a. Uz to, stručnjaci upozoravaju da se zbog klimatskih promjena njihovo stanište širi.

Čovjek se može razboljeti jedući meso ili mesne prerađevine životinje koju je ugrizao krpelj Usamljena zvijezda, latinskog naziva Amblyomma americanum.

Popis namirnica koje mogu izazvati alfa-gal sindrom uključuje svinjetinu, govedinu, zečetinu, janjetinu, divljač, želatinu, mlijeko, neke mliječne proizvode pa i određene lijekove koji sadrže komponente dobivene iz životinjskih organizama. Jaja nisu opasna.

Neki od simptoma ovog nedovoljno istraženog sindroma su grčevi u želucu, proljev, koprivnjača (crveni osip na koži) i nedostatak zraka koji mogu dovesti do anafilaksije - teške alergijske reakcije koja može biti i smrtonosna.

Detektiranje prvih simptoma ovisi o metabolizmu i trajanju probave.

Prema CDC-u, od 2010. godine otkriveno je više od 110 tisuća slučajeva. Od 2017. do 2021. godine broj slučajeva se povećavao za oko 15 tisuća godišnje.
