Odnosno, snimanje selfija može biti itekako korisno kad je riječ o otkrivanju nekih ozbiljnih bolesti. Naime, znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta u Kaliforniji kažu da snimke oka mogu pokazati znakove Alzheimerove bolesti, ali i ADHD-a, piše Živim.

Njihovo nedavno istraživanje je pokazalo da veličina zjenice može pružiti neke informacije o neurološkim funkcijama osobe. Na primjer, zjenica postaje veća (širi se) kad osoba obavlja težak kognitivni zadatak ili čuje neki neočekivani zvuk. Test reakcije zjenice može mjeriti promjene u veličini zjenice te tako dati informacije o funkciji mozga osobe, no takvi skupi instrumenti trenutno su dostupni samo u kliničkim ustanovama. Sada su autori novog istraživanja učinili mogućim da se takvo testiranje provodi u vlastitom domu. Razvili su aplikaciju za pametne telefone koja pamti krupne planove oka osobe.

Colin Barry, kompjutorski inženjer sa Sveučilišta u Kaliforniji kaže da je vrlo uzbuđen zbog potencijala koji korištenje te tehnologije ima kako bi se neurološki screening iz laboratorijskog kliničkog okruženja preselio u domove ljudi.

- Nadamo se da će ovo otvoriti vrata istraživanjima novih načina korištenja pametnih telefona u svrhu što ranijeg prepoznavanja i kontroliranja potencijalnih zdravstvenih problema - rekao je.

Ova aplikacija koristi takozvanu NIR kameru (near-infrared camera), odnosno kameru s bliskim infracrvenim spektrom kakva je ugrađena u novije modele pametnih lica u svrhu prepoznavanja lica. Potrebno je da korisnik snimi običan selfi s njihovom kamerom (iz aplikacije) i tada aplikacija može izračunati veličinu zjenice sa submilimetarskom preciznošću preko raznih boja očiju. Izračuni su bili usporedivi s onima koji su učinjeni uređajem koji se naziva pupilometar, a koji predstavlja zlatni standard za mjerenje veličine zjenice.

Eric Granholm, profesor psihijatrije na School of Medicine Sveučilišta u Kaliforniji, kaže da ovaj proizvod može pomoći u otkrivanju i razumijevanju bolesti, poput Alzheimerove.

- Ako bi se aplikacija koristila kao alat za screening, to bi moglo imati veliki utjecaj na javno zdravstvo, smatra Granholm. Osobe starije životne dobi više su izložene riziku za razvoj Alzheimerove bolesti, koja je najčešći oblik demencije, pa su znanstvenici testirali svoju aplikaciju i na skupini osoba starije životne dobi kako bi bili sigurni da je i za njih prikladna i jednostavna za korištenje, objavio je Živim.

Odnosno, snimanje selfija može biti itekako korisno kad je riječ o otkrivanju nekih ozbiljnih bolesti. Naime, znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta u Kaliforniji kažu da snimke oka mogu pokazati znakove Alzheimerove bolesti, ali i ADHD-a, piše Živim.

Njihovo nedavno istraživanje je pokazalo da veličina zjenice može pružiti neke informacije o neurološkim funkcijama osobe. Na primjer, zjenica postaje veća (širi se) kad osoba obavlja težak kognitivni zadatak ili čuje neki neočekivani zvuk. Test reakcije zjenice može mjeriti promjene u veličini zjenice te tako dati informacije o funkciji mozga osobe, no takvi skupi instrumenti trenutno su dostupni samo u kliničkim ustanovama. Sada su autori novog istraživanja učinili mogućim da se takvo testiranje provodi u vlastitom domu. Razvili su aplikaciju za pametne telefone koja pamti krupne planove oka osobe.

Colin Barry, kompjutorski inženjer sa Sveučilišta u Kaliforniji kaže da je vrlo uzbuđen zbog potencijala koji korištenje te tehnologije ima kako bi se neurološki screening iz laboratorijskog kliničkog okruženja preselio u domove ljudi.

- Nadamo se da će ovo otvoriti vrata istraživanjima novih načina korištenja pametnih telefona u svrhu što ranijeg prepoznavanja i kontroliranja potencijalnih zdravstvenih problema - rekao je.

Ova aplikacija koristi takozvanu NIR kameru (near-infrared camera), odnosno kameru s bliskim infracrvenim spektrom kakva je ugrađena u novije modele pametnih lica u svrhu prepoznavanja lica. Potrebno je da korisnik snimi običan selfi s njihovom kamerom (iz aplikacije) i tada aplikacija može izračunati veličinu zjenice sa submilimetarskom preciznošću preko raznih boja očiju. Izračuni su bili usporedivi s onima koji su učinjeni uređajem koji se naziva pupilometar, a koji predstavlja zlatni standard za mjerenje veličine zjenice.

Eric Granholm, profesor psihijatrije na School of Medicine Sveučilišta u Kaliforniji, kaže da ovaj proizvod može pomoći u otkrivanju i razumijevanju bolesti, poput Alzheimerove.

- Ako bi se aplikacija koristila kao alat za screening, to bi moglo imati veliki utjecaj na javno zdravstvo, smatra Granholm. Osobe starije životne dobi više su izložene riziku za razvoj Alzheimerove bolesti, koja je najčešći oblik demencije, pa su znanstvenici testirali svoju aplikaciju i na skupini osoba starije životne dobi kako bi bili sigurni da je i za njih prikladna i jednostavna za korištenje, objavio je Živim.

Ne biste vjerovali ali snimanje selfija može biti korisno za vaše zdravlje.

Odnosno, snimanje selfija može biti itekako korisno kad je riječ o otkrivanju nekih ozbiljnih bolesti. Naime, znanstvenici sa Sveučilišta u Kaliforniji kažu da snimke oka mogu pokazati znakove Alzheimerove bolesti, ali i ADHD-a, piše Živim.

Njihovo nedavno istraživanje je pokazalo da veličina zjenice može pružiti neke informacije o neurološkim funkcijama osobe. Na primjer, zjenica postaje veća (širi se) kad osoba obavlja težak kognitivni zadatak ili čuje neki neočekivani zvuk. Test reakcije zjenice može mjeriti promjene u veličini zjenice te tako dati informacije o funkciji mozga osobe, no takvi skupi instrumenti trenutno su dostupni samo u kliničkim ustanovama.
