Jedan od razloga zbog kojega je broj slučajeva raka maternice u zadnjih deset godina u porastu je odgađanje majčinstva do kasnije životne dobi, a u većoj su opasnosti i žene koje nisu rađale, tvrde britanski znanstvenici.
Broj dijagnosticiranih karcinoma uterusa u zadnjih se deset godina povećao za četvrtinu i u Velikoj Britaniji iznosi oko 8700 novih slučajeva godišnje, podaci su britanske organizacije Cancer Research UK.
Od polovine devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća broj dijagnoza raka maternice u Velikoj Britaniji je povećan za 12 posto. Ova vrsta karcinoma postala je četvrta najčešće kod žena nakon raka dojke, crijeva i pluća, piše Telegraph.
"Kod žena koje nisu rađale ili su rodile u kasnijoj životnoj dobi, pa čak i kod onih koje imaju samo jedno dijete, rizik od razvoja raka maternice i raka dojke je povećan", rekla je Fiona Osgun iz Cancer Research UK.
Dodala je i da pritom treba uzeti u obzir da rizik od razvoja raka mogu smanjiti faktori na koje se može utjecati, poput nepušenja, održavanja optimalne tjelesne težine, izbalansirane prehrane i redovite tjelovježbe.
Pretile žene koje nisu rađale, a kod kojih je menopauza nastupila nakon pedesete godine od karcinoma uterusa obolijevaju pet puta češće, a žene koje boluju od dijabetesa triput više u odnosu na ostale žene.
Otprije je poznato da je rak maternice sve je učestaliji zbog sve većeg broja starijih žena u populaciji te nekontrolirane primjene hormonskih lijekova nakon menopauze.
U izvješću britanske organizacije navodi se i da su, paralelno s povećanim izgledima za obolijevanje, u zadnjih 40 godina povećani i izgledi za preživljavanje od karcinoma, zahvaljujući ranijoj dijagnozi, screening programima, boljim testovima i učinkovitijim metodama liječenja.
"Ljudski se životni vijek produljio pa i više ljudi obolijeva od raka", rekao je voditelj odjela za statistiku Cancer Research UK Nick Ormiston-Smith.
"Ljudi često vjeruju da je za obolijevanje od raka najodgovornija genetska predispozicija ili loša sreća. Činjenica je da geni imaju veliku ulogu, no puno je stvari koje se mogu poduzeti da bi se rizik smanjio."
"Jedna od važnijih stvari je ne pušiti ili prestati pušiti. Poznato je da pušači češće obolijevaju od raka pluća, no pušenje se dovodi u vezi s još najmanje 13 vrsta karcinoma. Uz redovite preventivne preglede, važno je održavati optimalnu tjelesnu težinu, konzumirati zdravu hranu i ne zaboraviti tjelovježbu", podsjetio je.

Jedan od razloga zbog kojega je broj slučajeva raka maternice u zadnjih deset godina u porastu je odgađanje majčinstva do kasnije životne dobi, a u većoj su opasnosti i žene koje nisu rađale, tvrde britanski znanstvenici.
Broj dijagnosticiranih karcinoma uterusa u zadnjih se deset godina povećao za četvrtinu i u Velikoj Britaniji iznosi oko 8700 novih slučajeva godišnje, podaci su britanske organizacije Cancer Research UK.
Od polovine devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća broj dijagnoza raka maternice u Velikoj Britaniji je povećan za 12 posto. Ova vrsta karcinoma postala je četvrta najčešće kod žena nakon raka dojke, crijeva i pluća, piše Telegraph.
"Kod žena koje nisu rađale ili su rodile u kasnijoj životnoj dobi, pa čak i kod onih koje imaju samo jedno dijete, rizik od razvoja raka maternice i raka dojke je povećan", rekla je Fiona Osgun iz Cancer Research UK.
Dodala je i da pritom treba uzeti u obzir da rizik od razvoja raka mogu smanjiti faktori na koje se može utjecati, poput nepušenja, održavanja optimalne tjelesne težine, izbalansirane prehrane i redovite tjelovježbe.
Pretile žene koje nisu rađale, a kod kojih je menopauza nastupila nakon pedesete godine od karcinoma uterusa obolijevaju pet puta češće, a žene koje boluju od dijabetesa triput više u odnosu na ostale žene.
Otprije je poznato da je rak maternice sve je učestaliji zbog sve većeg broja starijih žena u populaciji te nekontrolirane primjene hormonskih lijekova nakon menopauze.
U izvješću britanske organizacije navodi se i da su, paralelno s povećanim izgledima za obolijevanje, u zadnjih 40 godina povećani i izgledi za preživljavanje od karcinoma, zahvaljujući ranijoj dijagnozi, screening programima, boljim testovima i učinkovitijim metodama liječenja.
"Ljudski se životni vijek produljio pa i više ljudi obolijeva od raka", rekao je voditelj odjela za statistiku Cancer Research UK Nick Ormiston-Smith.
"Ljudi često vjeruju da je za obolijevanje od raka najodgovornija genetska predispozicija ili loša sreća. Činjenica je da geni imaju veliku ulogu, no puno je stvari koje se mogu poduzeti da bi se rizik smanjio."
"Jedna od važnijih stvari je ne pušiti ili prestati pušiti. Poznato je da pušači češće obolijevaju od raka pluća, no pušenje se dovodi u vezi s još najmanje 13 vrsta karcinoma. Uz redovite preventivne preglede, važno je održavati optimalnu tjelesnu težinu, konzumirati zdravu hranu i ne zaboraviti tjelovježbu", podsjetio je.
