Znanstvenici proteklih godina proučavaju kako naš mikrobiom, mikroorganizmi koji žive u probavnom sustavu, može pomoći u liječenju mentalnih bolesti i nova analiza sugerira da probiotici mogu ublažiti depresiju.

Probiotici su dodaci prehrani koji sadrže mikrobe za koje se vjeruje da pozitivno utječu na probavu. Znanstvenici s britanskog sveučilišta Brighton i sveučilišne bolnice Croydon odabrali su sedam najboljih od 71 studije objavljene od 2003. do 2019. koje su proučavale kako probiotici mogu pomoći odraslim osobama koje pate od depresije i tjekobe, prenosi CNN.

Sve analizirane studije pokazale su "značajna poboljšanja" u mjerenju učinaka uzimanja probiotika u usporedbi s davanjem placeba ili neliječenjem.

Studije su analizirale probiotike poput Lactobacillus acidophilusa, Lactobacillus caseija i Bifidobacterium bifiduma.

Studija je utvrdila da su probiotici sami po sebi ili u kombinaciji s prebioticima povezani s mjerljivim poboljšanjem stanja osoba koje pate od depresija ali je ostalo nejasno postoji li veza probiotika i poboljšanja kod osoba koje pate od tjeskobe.

- Sustavna analiza znanstvene literature podupire pretpostavke da probiotici mogu pomoći ljudima koji pate od depresije, no potrebna su dodatna istraživanja. Ovi podaci pružaju argument za potrebu većeg istraživanja, kaže u komentaru istraživanja Allan Young, profesor sa Instituta za psihijatriju, psihologiju i neuroznanosti s King's College London, koji nije bio uključen u istraživanje.

Znanstvenici ističu da je nedostatak što nijedno od analiziranih istraživanja nije dugo trajalo, a i broj ispitanika obuhvaćenih tim istraživanjima nije bio jako veliki.

Napominju da je zbog toga bilo teško izvući čvrste zaključke o sveukupnim učincima probiotika, koliko su trajali i postoje li neželjene nuspojave dugotrajnog trošenja probiotika.

Britanski psihijatar David Curtis s University College London kaže da je malo vjerojatno da bi probiotici utjecali na poremećaje raspoloženja.

- Iako po tim studijama postoje neki pozitivni učinci na depresiju ne znamo postoje li druge studije koje su pokazale da probiotici ne utječu na depresiju, a nisu objavljene, dodaje on i upozorava da ljudi koji pate od depresije moraju potražiti liječničku pomoć, a ne se sami liječiti dodacima prehrani za koje nije dokazano djelovanje.

U radu koji  je objavljen u ponedjeljak u časopisu BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health navodi se da nije poznat mehanizam na koji bi probiotici djelovali no znanstvenici sugeriraju dva načina.

Prvo bi mogli smanjiti proizvodnju citokina koji igraju ulogu u upalnim procesima ili pomoći djelovanju triptofana za koji se vjeruje da igra ulogu u vezi probave i mozga kod psihijatrijskih poremećaja.

Uz to, kod osoba koje pate od depresije, a imaju druge zdravstvene poremećaje poput nedostatne proizvodnje inzulina ili sindroma iritabilnog crijeva, probiotici bi mogli utjecati na vlastiti doživljaj depresije ublažavanjem tih simptoma.

Prema analizi Američkog gastroenterološkog društva objavljenoj prošlog mjeseca za većinu probavnih poremećaja među kojima su Crohnova bolest, ulcerativni kolitis ili sindrom iritabilnog crijeva, nema dovoljno dokaza na temelju kojih bi se moglo preporučiti uzimanje probiotika.

Znanstvenici proteklih godina proučavaju kako naš mikrobiom, mikroorganizmi koji žive u probavnom sustavu, može pomoći u liječenju mentalnih bolesti i nova analiza sugerira da probiotici mogu ublažiti depresiju.

Probiotici su dodaci prehrani koji sadrže mikrobe za koje se vjeruje da pozitivno utječu na probavu. Znanstvenici s britanskog sveučilišta Brighton i sveučilišne bolnice Croydon odabrali su sedam najboljih od 71 studije objavljene od 2003. do 2019. koje su proučavale kako probiotici mogu pomoći odraslim osobama koje pate od depresije i tjekobe, prenosi CNN.

Sve analizirane studije pokazale su "značajna poboljšanja" u mjerenju učinaka uzimanja probiotika u usporedbi s davanjem placeba ili neliječenjem.

Studije su analizirale probiotike poput Lactobacillus acidophilusa, Lactobacillus caseija i Bifidobacterium bifiduma.

Studija je utvrdila da su probiotici sami po sebi ili u kombinaciji s prebioticima povezani s mjerljivim poboljšanjem stanja osoba koje pate od depresija ali je ostalo nejasno postoji li veza probiotika i poboljšanja kod osoba koje pate od tjeskobe.

- Sustavna analiza znanstvene literature podupire pretpostavke da probiotici mogu pomoći ljudima koji pate od depresije, no potrebna su dodatna istraživanja. Ovi podaci pružaju argument za potrebu većeg istraživanja, kaže u komentaru istraživanja Allan Young, profesor sa Instituta za psihijatriju, psihologiju i neuroznanosti s King's College London, koji nije bio uključen u istraživanje.

Znanstvenici ističu da je nedostatak što nijedno od analiziranih istraživanja nije dugo trajalo, a i broj ispitanika obuhvaćenih tim istraživanjima nije bio jako veliki.

Napominju da je zbog toga bilo teško izvući čvrste zaključke o sveukupnim učincima probiotika, koliko su trajali i postoje li neželjene nuspojave dugotrajnog trošenja probiotika.

Britanski psihijatar David Curtis s University College London kaže da je malo vjerojatno da bi probiotici utjecali na poremećaje raspoloženja.

- Iako po tim studijama postoje neki pozitivni učinci na depresiju ne znamo postoje li druge studije koje su pokazale da probiotici ne utječu na depresiju, a nisu objavljene, dodaje on i upozorava da ljudi koji pate od depresije moraju potražiti liječničku pomoć, a ne se sami liječiti dodacima prehrani za koje nije dokazano djelovanje.

U radu koji  je objavljen u ponedjeljak u časopisu BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health navodi se da nije poznat mehanizam na koji bi probiotici djelovali no znanstvenici sugeriraju dva načina.

Prvo bi mogli smanjiti proizvodnju citokina koji igraju ulogu u upalnim procesima ili pomoći djelovanju triptofana za koji se vjeruje da igra ulogu u vezi probave i mozga kod psihijatrijskih poremećaja.

Uz to, kod osoba koje pate od depresije, a imaju druge zdravstvene poremećaje poput nedostatne proizvodnje inzulina ili sindroma iritabilnog crijeva, probiotici bi mogli utjecati na vlastiti doživljaj depresije ublažavanjem tih simptoma.

Prema analizi Američkog gastroenterološkog društva objavljenoj prošlog mjeseca za većinu probavnih poremećaja među kojima su Crohnova bolest, ulcerativni kolitis ili sindrom iritabilnog crijeva, nema dovoljno dokaza na temelju kojih bi se moglo preporučiti uzimanje probiotika.

Znanstvenici proteklih godina proučavaju kako naš mikrobiom, mikroorganizmi koji žive u probavnom sustavu, može pomoći u liječenju mentalnih bolesti i nova analiza sugerira da probiotici mogu ublažiti depresiju.

Probiotici su dodaci prehrani koji sadrže mikrobe za koje se vjeruje da pozitivno utječu na probavu. Znanstvenici s britanskog sveučilišta Brighton i sveučilišne bolnice Croydon odabrali su sedam najboljih od 71 studije objavljene od 2003. do 2019. koje su proučavale kako probiotici mogu pomoći odraslim osobama koje pate od depresije i tjekobe, prenosi CNN.

Sve analizirane studije pokazale su "značajna poboljšanja" u mjerenju učinaka uzimanja probiotika u usporedbi s davanjem placeba ili neliječenjem.
