Dok je većina nas upoznata s koronavirusom i sezonskom gripom, ljudski metapneumovirus manje je poznat respiratorni virus. Međutim, dok se većina sezonskih virusa može riješiti pomoću lijekova ili spriječiti cjepivima - hMPV ne može. Liječnik je upozorio ljude da budu oprezni s malo poznatim virusom koji može izazvati ozbiljnu respiratornu bolest, pa čak i smrt. Ljudski metapneumovirus (hMPV) može biti smrtonosan u ekstremnim slučajevima, ali za razliku od drugih sličnih bolesti, za njega ne postoji cjepivo, piše Daily Star.
Dr. Samer Sader, potpredsjednik i glavni medicinski službenik Carle Healtha u Sjedinjenim Državama, upozorio je djecu i starije osobe s ozbiljnim kroničnim bolestima da moraju biti oprezni, pogotovo jer stopa smrtnosti od virusa iznosi oko deset posto.
"Posebno trebaju biti oprezni ljudi koji se liječe od raka, ljudi koji imaju autoimune bolesti i ljudi koji imaju kronične plućne bolesti kao što je emfizem ili kronična opstruktivna plućna bolest (KOPB)", rekao je.
Iz Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC) otkrili su da hMPV može uzrokovati bolesti gornjih i donjih dišnih puteva kod ljudi svih dobnih skupina, no posebno su ugrožena mala djeca, stariji ljudi i osobe s oslabljenim imunosnim sustavom.

Simptomi ljudskog metapneumovirusa
Četiri najčešća simptoma hMPV-a su:
- kašalj,
- vrućica,
- začepljenost nosa,
- kratkoća daha
Iz tog razloga se lako može zamijeniti s drugom, manje ozbiljnom bolešću. Ako infekcija napreduje, može rezultirati bronhitisom ili upalom pluća, što može rezultirati začepljenošću prsnog koša, šištanjem pri disanju i kašljem koji proizvodi žutu ili zelenu sluz.
Cirkulacija HMPV-a među ljudima obično se javlja između zime i proljeća.

Širenje ljudskog metapneumovirusa
Iz CDC upozoravaju da se hMPV može širiti putem:
- izlučevina od kašljanja i kihanja,
- bliskih osobnih kontakata, poput dodirivanja ili rukovanja,
- dodirivanja predmeta ili površina na kojima se nalaze virusi te nakon toga dodirivanja usta, nosa ili očiju.
Da biste bili sigurni jeste li zaraženi, potrebno je uzeti bris nosa i grla. Trenutno ne postoji specifična antivirusna terapija za liječenje hMPV-a, već se on liječi simptomatski.

Dok je većina nas upoznata s koronavirusom i sezonskom gripom, ljudski metapneumovirus manje je poznat respiratorni virus. Međutim, dok se većina sezonskih virusa može riješiti pomoću lijekova ili spriječiti cjepivima - hMPV ne može. Liječnik je upozorio ljude da budu oprezni s malo poznatim virusom koji može izazvati ozbiljnu respiratornu bolest, pa čak i smrt. Ljudski metapneumovirus (hMPV) može biti smrtonosan u ekstremnim slučajevima, ali za razliku od drugih sličnih bolesti, za njega ne postoji cjepivo, piše Daily Star.
Dr. Samer Sader, potpredsjednik i glavni medicinski službenik Carle Healtha u Sjedinjenim Državama, upozorio je djecu i starije osobe s ozbiljnim kroničnim bolestima da moraju biti oprezni, pogotovo jer stopa smrtnosti od virusa iznosi oko deset posto.
"Posebno trebaju biti oprezni ljudi koji se liječe od raka, ljudi koji imaju autoimune bolesti i ljudi koji imaju kronične plućne bolesti kao što je emfizem ili kronična opstruktivna plućna bolest (KOPB)", rekao je.
Iz Centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC) otkrili su da hMPV može uzrokovati bolesti gornjih i donjih dišnih puteva kod ljudi svih dobnih skupina, no posebno su ugrožena mala djeca, stariji ljudi i osobe s oslabljenim imunosnim sustavom.

Simptomi ljudskog metapneumovirusa
Četiri najčešća simptoma hMPV-a su:
- kašalj,
- vrućica,
- začepljenost nosa,
- kratkoća daha
Iz tog razloga se lako može zamijeniti s drugom, manje ozbiljnom bolešću. Ako infekcija napreduje, može rezultirati bronhitisom ili upalom pluća, što može rezultirati začepljenošću prsnog koša, šištanjem pri disanju i kašljem koji proizvodi žutu ili zelenu sluz.
Cirkulacija HMPV-a među ljudima obično se javlja između zime i proljeća.

Širenje ljudskog metapneumovirusa
Iz CDC upozoravaju da se hMPV može širiti putem:
- izlučevina od kašljanja i kihanja,
- bliskih osobnih kontakata, poput dodirivanja ili rukovanja,
- dodirivanja predmeta ili površina na kojima se nalaze virusi te nakon toga dodirivanja usta, nosa ili očiju.
Da biste bili sigurni jeste li zaraženi, potrebno je uzeti bris nosa i grla. Trenutno ne postoji specifična antivirusna terapija za liječenje hMPV-a, već se on liječi simptomatski.
