Znanstvenici su otkrili da protuupalni lijek anakinra znatno smanjuje teške simptome živaca po kojima je terapija Vincristinom poznata, piše Živim.

Istraživanje provedeno na Sveučilištu Queensland moglo bi omogućiti nekim budućim oboljelima od raka, uključujući i djecu oboljelu od leukemije, da izbjegnu one najgore i najteže nuspojave kemoterapije. Autorice istraživanja, prof. Irina Vetter i dr. Hana Starobova, krenule su od pretpostavke da bi "isključivanje" upale, koja je prirodna reakcija tijela na lijek za kemoterapiju Vincristine, moglo smanjiti bol koja prati liječenje tim lijekom te ostale prateće simptome.

Uskoro testiranje

- Otkrili smo da protuupalni lijek anakinra znatno smanjuje teške simptome živaca po kojima je terapija Vincristinom poznata - rekla je prof. Vetter, dodajući kako je izuzetno važno što lijek pritom nije smanjio učinkovitost kemoterapije. Anakinra je inače lijek za reumatoidni i juvenilni artritis, a znanstvenici s Instituta za molekularnu bioznanost pri Sveučilištu Queensland planiraju ga uskoro testirati na pacijentima koji će biti podvrgnuti kemoterapiji Vincristinom, lijekom koji se koristi za liječenje raka vrata maternice, mozga i pluća, leukemiju i nonHodgkinov limfom. Otkriće se odnosi isključivo na taj lijek, iako su preliminarni rezultati pokazali da bi anakinra mogla pomoći i u ublažavanju simptoma nekih drugih lijekova za kemoterapiju. To je itekako važno jer su nuspojave kemoterapije ponekad toliko strašne da pacijenti prekidaju terapiju, privremeno ili potpuno, čime zapravo gube prednost u borbi s rakom, smatra prof. Vetter.

Znanstvenici su otkrili da protuupalni lijek anakinra znatno smanjuje teške simptome živaca po kojima je terapija Vincristinom poznata, piše Živim.

Istraživanje provedeno na Sveučilištu Queensland moglo bi omogućiti nekim budućim oboljelima od raka, uključujući i djecu oboljelu od leukemije, da izbjegnu one najgore i najteže nuspojave kemoterapije. Autorice istraživanja, prof. Irina Vetter i dr. Hana Starobova, krenule su od pretpostavke da bi "isključivanje" upale, koja je prirodna reakcija tijela na lijek za kemoterapiju Vincristine, moglo smanjiti bol koja prati liječenje tim lijekom te ostale prateće simptome.

Uskoro testiranje

- Otkrili smo da protuupalni lijek anakinra znatno smanjuje teške simptome živaca po kojima je terapija Vincristinom poznata - rekla je prof. Vetter, dodajući kako je izuzetno važno što lijek pritom nije smanjio učinkovitost kemoterapije. Anakinra je inače lijek za reumatoidni i juvenilni artritis, a znanstvenici s Instituta za molekularnu bioznanost pri Sveučilištu Queensland planiraju ga uskoro testirati na pacijentima koji će biti podvrgnuti kemoterapiji Vincristinom, lijekom koji se koristi za liječenje raka vrata maternice, mozga i pluća, leukemiju i nonHodgkinov limfom. Otkriće se odnosi isključivo na taj lijek, iako su preliminarni rezultati pokazali da bi anakinra mogla pomoći i u ublažavanju simptoma nekih drugih lijekova za kemoterapiju. To je itekako važno jer su nuspojave kemoterapije ponekad toliko strašne da pacijenti prekidaju terapiju, privremeno ili potpuno, čime zapravo gube prednost u borbi s rakom, smatra prof. Vetter.

Znanstvenici su otkrili da protuupalni lijek anakinra znatno smanjuje teške simptome živaca po kojima je terapija Vincristinom poznata, piše Živim.

Istraživanje provedeno na Sveučilištu Queensland moglo bi omogućiti nekim budućim oboljelima od raka, uključujući i djecu oboljelu od leukemije, da izbjegnu one najgore i najteže nuspojave kemoterapije. Autorice istraživanja, prof. Irina Vetter i dr. Hana Starobova, krenule su od pretpostavke da bi "isključivanje" upale, koja je prirodna reakcija tijela na lijek za kemoterapiju Vincristine, moglo smanjiti bol koja prati liječenje tim lijekom te ostale prateće simptome.
