Iako je COVID-19 primarno respiratorna bolest, od ovog virusa nisu imune ni naše oči. 

Istraživanje provedeno ne 304 osobe u dobi između 10 i 80 godina koje su prijavile simptome koronavirusa, pokazalo je kako su izgledi da će se osobe koje nose dioptrijske naočale zaraziti koronavirusom triput manji nego u onih koje ih ne nose. Razlog je jednostavan - rjeđe trljaju oči i dodiruju lice.

Devetnaest posto ispitanika odgovorilo je da naočale nosi većinu vremena najmanje osam sati dnevno.

Studija je pokazala da je rizik od zaraze COVID-om bio otprilike dva do tri puta manji među populacijom koja nosi naočale, u odnosu na one koje ih ne nose. Istraživanje također  pokazuje kako osobe dodiruju lice prosječno 23 puta u jednom satu, a oči prosječno triput na sat.

Prošle su godine kineski stručnjaci ustanovili da je među pacijentima s koronavirusom u općoj populaciji bilo pet puta manje osoba s dioptrijskim naočalama.

- Kada god u medicini dođe do pojave nove virusne bolesti, uvijek postoji rizik da se ona širi preko spojnice oka. Naše oči su, uz naš respiratorni sustav, izložene vanjskom svijetu i potencijalno su mjesto ulaza ili širenja virusa. Štoviše, čak su i manje zaštićene nego nosnice koje imaju svoje prirodne prepreke protiv ulaska virusa - objašnjava Ivan Gabrić, liječnik Specijalna bolnica za oftalmologiju „Svjetlost“.

Kaže kako nošenje naočala zasigurno pomaže u manjem širenju zaraze, ne zato što naočale štite od virusa, nego zato što ljudi koji ih nose manje trljaju oči.

„Naprosto im se ne da skidati naočale. Ako gledamo zdravstvene radnike primijetit ćete da ih većina u radu s osobama koje su pozitivne ili imaju sumnju na infekciju COVID-19 nosi vizire ili zaštitne naočale. Kod postupaka na pacijentima dolazi do kreacije aerosola ili čak direktnog izlaganja tjelesnim tekućinama zaražene osobe. Nošenjem vizira drastično se smanjuje šansa da će te čestice doprijeti do oka i tako postati put zaraze kod zdravstvenog osoblja – napominje Gabrić.

Liječnik podsjeća kako je ranim fazama pojave koronavirusne bolesti dokazana prisutnost virusnih čestica u suzama.

„Za sada još nije dokazano da je količina virusnih čestica dovoljna da izazove infekciju kod druge osobe. Da bi došlo do prijenosa bolesti nije dovoljno dokazati samo prisutnost virusa, već je potrebna neka kritična količina virusnih čestica (kopija virusa) da bi se druga osoba zarazila – naglašava liječnik i podsjeća kako postoje čvrsti dokazi da je i težina kliničke slike pacijenata zaraženih sa SARS-CoV-2 izravno povezana s količinom inicijalnih čestica virusa kod prijenosa – veća količina virusa dovodi do jačih simptoma i do težeg oblika bolesti.

Studije su pokazale da je gotovo 22 posto zaraženih od koronavirusa imalo neki oblik očnih smetnji. Najčešće se radilo o crvenilu oka, pojačanom suzenju i smetnjama kod gledanja u svjetlo. Također, neka su istraživanja pokazala da postoje dijagnostički vidljive posljedice COVID-19 na retinu i vidni živac. Ali zasad, osim što se na dijagnostici vidi takav tip oštećenja, ono je malo i klinički se nije pokazalo kao značajno.

„Jedna od najvećih poteškoća u doba kada svi moramo nositi maske za lice je kod ljudi koji nose dioptrijske naočale. Zbog izdaha kroz masku dolazi do magljenja naočala pa ljudi, u želji da bolje vide, spuštaju svoju masku ispod razine nosa kako bi spriječili magljenje naočala. Nažalost, to je najgora opcija koju možete napraviti. Nos je mjesto ulaska virusa u tijelo, ali isto je tako izdisaj iz nosa način na koji možete zaraziti druge ljude – objašnjava naš sugovornik.  

Vlasnici dioptrijskih naočala mogu nabaviti „anti-fog“ maske ili, kako kaže naš sugovornik snaći se stavljajući flaster oko nosa jer će tako smanjiti „curenje“ vodene pare i naočale će se manje magliti.

Iako je COVID-19 primarno respiratorna bolest, od ovog virusa nisu imune ni naše oči. 

Istraživanje provedeno ne 304 osobe u dobi između 10 i 80 godina koje su prijavile simptome koronavirusa, pokazalo je kako su izgledi da će se osobe koje nose dioptrijske naočale zaraziti koronavirusom triput manji nego u onih koje ih ne nose. Razlog je jednostavan - rjeđe trljaju oči i dodiruju lice.

Devetnaest posto ispitanika odgovorilo je da naočale nosi većinu vremena najmanje osam sati dnevno.

Studija je pokazala da je rizik od zaraze COVID-om bio otprilike dva do tri puta manji među populacijom koja nosi naočale, u odnosu na one koje ih ne nose. Istraživanje također  pokazuje kako osobe dodiruju lice prosječno 23 puta u jednom satu, a oči prosječno triput na sat.

Prošle su godine kineski stručnjaci ustanovili da je među pacijentima s koronavirusom u općoj populaciji bilo pet puta manje osoba s dioptrijskim naočalama.

- Kada god u medicini dođe do pojave nove virusne bolesti, uvijek postoji rizik da se ona širi preko spojnice oka. Naše oči su, uz naš respiratorni sustav, izložene vanjskom svijetu i potencijalno su mjesto ulaza ili širenja virusa. Štoviše, čak su i manje zaštićene nego nosnice koje imaju svoje prirodne prepreke protiv ulaska virusa - objašnjava Ivan Gabrić, liječnik Specijalna bolnica za oftalmologiju „Svjetlost“.

Kaže kako nošenje naočala zasigurno pomaže u manjem širenju zaraze, ne zato što naočale štite od virusa, nego zato što ljudi koji ih nose manje trljaju oči.

„Naprosto im se ne da skidati naočale. Ako gledamo zdravstvene radnike primijetit ćete da ih većina u radu s osobama koje su pozitivne ili imaju sumnju na infekciju COVID-19 nosi vizire ili zaštitne naočale. Kod postupaka na pacijentima dolazi do kreacije aerosola ili čak direktnog izlaganja tjelesnim tekućinama zaražene osobe. Nošenjem vizira drastično se smanjuje šansa da će te čestice doprijeti do oka i tako postati put zaraze kod zdravstvenog osoblja – napominje Gabrić.

Liječnik podsjeća kako je ranim fazama pojave koronavirusne bolesti dokazana prisutnost virusnih čestica u suzama.

„Za sada još nije dokazano da je količina virusnih čestica dovoljna da izazove infekciju kod druge osobe. Da bi došlo do prijenosa bolesti nije dovoljno dokazati samo prisutnost virusa, već je potrebna neka kritična količina virusnih čestica (kopija virusa) da bi se druga osoba zarazila – naglašava liječnik i podsjeća kako postoje čvrsti dokazi da je i težina kliničke slike pacijenata zaraženih sa SARS-CoV-2 izravno povezana s količinom inicijalnih čestica virusa kod prijenosa – veća količina virusa dovodi do jačih simptoma i do težeg oblika bolesti.

Studije su pokazale da je gotovo 22 posto zaraženih od koronavirusa imalo neki oblik očnih smetnji. Najčešće se radilo o crvenilu oka, pojačanom suzenju i smetnjama kod gledanja u svjetlo. Također, neka su istraživanja pokazala da postoje dijagnostički vidljive posljedice COVID-19 na retinu i vidni živac. Ali zasad, osim što se na dijagnostici vidi takav tip oštećenja, ono je malo i klinički se nije pokazalo kao značajno.

„Jedna od najvećih poteškoća u doba kada svi moramo nositi maske za lice je kod ljudi koji nose dioptrijske naočale. Zbog izdaha kroz masku dolazi do magljenja naočala pa ljudi, u želji da bolje vide, spuštaju svoju masku ispod razine nosa kako bi spriječili magljenje naočala. Nažalost, to je najgora opcija koju možete napraviti. Nos je mjesto ulaska virusa u tijelo, ali isto je tako izdisaj iz nosa način na koji možete zaraziti druge ljude – objašnjava naš sugovornik.  

Vlasnici dioptrijskih naočala mogu nabaviti „anti-fog“ maske ili, kako kaže naš sugovornik snaći se stavljajući flaster oko nosa jer će tako smanjiti „curenje“ vodene pare i naočale će se manje magliti.
