Osobe koje imaju problema sa spavanjem mogle bi se suočiti s kognitivnim padom u kasnijoj životnoj dobi, tvrde znanstvenici u stručnom časopisu Neurology.

"Ljudi koji imaju više poremećenog sna u svojim 30-ima i 40-ima mogli bi imati veću vjerojatnost da će razviti probleme s pamćenjem i razmišljanjem desetljeće kasnije", upozorili su. "Sve više dokaza podupire povezanost između kvalitete sna i rizika od demencije", dodali su znanstvenici.

Njihov rad obuhvatio je preko 500 ljudi koji su praćeni 11 godina. Iako su priznali da nije dokazano da će oni koji slabo spavaju u svojim 30-ima završiti s kognitivnim problemima kada ostare, rekli su da postoji "povezanost", koja izgleda da se više temelji na tome koliko duboko osoba spava, a ne koliko dugo.

"Naša otkrića pokazuju da je kvaliteta, a ne kvantiteta sna najvažnija za kognitivno zdravlje u srednjoj dobi", rekla je autorica rada Yue Leng sa Sveučilišta Kalifornija u San Franciscu.

"Razumijevanje veze između spavanja i kognicije u ranijim godinama života ključno je za razumijevanje uloge problema sa spavanjem kao čimbenika rizika za bolest", rekla je.

Loš san ponekad uzrokuje apneja, koja zna buditi one koji pate od nje nekoliko desetaka puta noću, a da toga nisu ni svjesni.

U svibnju 2023., časopis Annals of Internal Medicine objavio je rezultate testova koji pokazuju da apneja za vrijeme spavanja, što nije iznenađujuće, dovodi do "pretjerane dnevne pospanosti".

To je uslijedilo nakon što su časopisi Neurology i Frontiers in Sleep objavili radove koji su pokazali povezanost između apneje za vrijeme spavanja i vjerojatnosti kognitivnog pada u starijoj dobi. Druga nedavno objavljena istraživanja pokazala su vezu između besanih noći i rizika od razvoja dijabetesa.

Osobe koje imaju problema sa spavanjem mogle bi se suočiti s kognitivnim padom u kasnijoj životnoj dobi, tvrde znanstvenici u stručnom časopisu Neurology.

"Ljudi koji imaju više poremećenog sna u svojim 30-ima i 40-ima mogli bi imati veću vjerojatnost da će razviti probleme s pamćenjem i razmišljanjem desetljeće kasnije", upozorili su. "Sve više dokaza podupire povezanost između kvalitete sna i rizika od demencije", dodali su znanstvenici.

Njihov rad obuhvatio je preko 500 ljudi koji su praćeni 11 godina. Iako su priznali da nije dokazano da će oni koji slabo spavaju u svojim 30-ima završiti s kognitivnim problemima kada ostare, rekli su da postoji "povezanost", koja izgleda da se više temelji na tome koliko duboko osoba spava, a ne koliko dugo.

"Naša otkrića pokazuju da je kvaliteta, a ne kvantiteta sna najvažnija za kognitivno zdravlje u srednjoj dobi", rekla je autorica rada Yue Leng sa Sveučilišta Kalifornija u San Franciscu.

"Razumijevanje veze između spavanja i kognicije u ranijim godinama života ključno je za razumijevanje uloge problema sa spavanjem kao čimbenika rizika za bolest", rekla je.
