U Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama zabilježena je prva smrt osobe zaražene bakterijom otpornom na antibiotike. Radi se o slučaju koji podiže zvono za uzbunu na koju liječnici već godinama upozoravaju - antibiotici više nisu pouzdani lijekovi za bakterijske infekcije, piše Jutarnji list.
Pacijentica je zaprimljena u bolnicu u Renou, oboljela od bakterijske infekcije koja se proširila na kosti. Liječnici su pokušali tretirati bakteriju s čak 26 različitih vrsta antibiotika, no niti jedan nije djelovao.
Nakon temeljite laboratorijske analize bakterije, soja Klebsiella pneumoniae, liječnici su ustanovili kako je otporna na sve postojeće antibiotike. Pacijentica je ubrzo pala u septički šok i preminula.
Smrtonosna bakterija pripada soju koji normalno živi u probavnom traktu bez negativnih posljedica po zdravlje, no pacijentica je slomila bedrenu kost u Indiji, i bakterija se proširila na kosti i dosegla do kuka, piše Jutarnji.
Zadnja nova vrsta antibiotika otkrivena je 1980.-ih godina, a farmaceutske tvrtke slabo rade na razvijanju novih, zbog visoke cijene istraživanja i niske profitabilnosti. U međuvremenu, sve više sojeva bakterija otporno je na sve više vrsta antibiotika.
Bakterije se razmnožavaju izrazito brzo, pa bilo koja mutacija koja pruža zaštitu od antibiotika ubrzo postaje dominantna kod bakterija koje su izložene lijekovima. Bakterije su također sklone razmjenjivati DNK i međusobno, pa se otpornost može lako proširiti i na druge sojeve.
Prije dvije godine, otkriven je soj Escherichie coli koji je razvio otpornost na colistin - antibiotik 'posljednje linije obrane', koji se zbog štetnosti po bubrege koristio samo kada nije bilo drugih alternativa.
Otporni sojevi E. coli pronađeni su na farmama u Kini, ali i u Danskoj. Stručnjaci vjeruju kako se preminula pacijentica zarazila otpornim sojem za vrijeme boravka u Indiji, gdje se sve češće pojavljuju bakterije otporne na antibiotike. Kako je danas putovanje među kontinentima lakše nego ikad, gotovo je nemoguće zaustaviti širenje otpornih bakterija po svijetu, piše Jutanji list.

U Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama zabilježena je prva smrt osobe zaražene bakterijom otpornom na antibiotike. Radi se o slučaju koji podiže zvono za uzbunu na koju liječnici već godinama upozoravaju - antibiotici više nisu pouzdani lijekovi za bakterijske infekcije, piše Jutarnji list.
Pacijentica je zaprimljena u bolnicu u Renou, oboljela od bakterijske infekcije koja se proširila na kosti. Liječnici su pokušali tretirati bakteriju s čak 26 različitih vrsta antibiotika, no niti jedan nije djelovao.
Nakon temeljite laboratorijske analize bakterije, soja Klebsiella pneumoniae, liječnici su ustanovili kako je otporna na sve postojeće antibiotike. Pacijentica je ubrzo pala u septički šok i preminula.
Smrtonosna bakterija pripada soju koji normalno živi u probavnom traktu bez negativnih posljedica po zdravlje, no pacijentica je slomila bedrenu kost u Indiji, i bakterija se proširila na kosti i dosegla do kuka, piše Jutarnji.
Zadnja nova vrsta antibiotika otkrivena je 1980.-ih godina, a farmaceutske tvrtke slabo rade na razvijanju novih, zbog visoke cijene istraživanja i niske profitabilnosti. U međuvremenu, sve više sojeva bakterija otporno je na sve više vrsta antibiotika.
Bakterije se razmnožavaju izrazito brzo, pa bilo koja mutacija koja pruža zaštitu od antibiotika ubrzo postaje dominantna kod bakterija koje su izložene lijekovima. Bakterije su također sklone razmjenjivati DNK i međusobno, pa se otpornost može lako proširiti i na druge sojeve.
Prije dvije godine, otkriven je soj Escherichie coli koji je razvio otpornost na colistin - antibiotik 'posljednje linije obrane', koji se zbog štetnosti po bubrege koristio samo kada nije bilo drugih alternativa.
Otporni sojevi E. coli pronađeni su na farmama u Kini, ali i u Danskoj. Stručnjaci vjeruju kako se preminula pacijentica zarazila otpornim sojem za vrijeme boravka u Indiji, gdje se sve češće pojavljuju bakterije otporne na antibiotike. Kako je danas putovanje među kontinentima lakše nego ikad, gotovo je nemoguće zaustaviti širenje otpornih bakterija po svijetu, piše Jutanji list.
