   Na današnji dan prije 25 godina umro je Sir Fitzroy Maclean, britanski političar i povjesničar, rođen u Kairu 1911. godine.  Potomak škotske velikaške obitelji, kako ga opisuje Hrvatska enciklopedija, Maclean je nakon školovanja na koledžu Eton i Sveučilištu u Cambridgeu, 1933. godine stupio u diplomatsku službu  u Parizu i Moskvi. Potom je stupio u vojsku i od 1943. do 1945. bio je šef britanske vojne misije pri Vrhovnom štabu Narodnooslobodilačke vojske u Jugoslaviji.

Fitzroy Maclean je prvi put došao u Jugoslaviju 1943. kada je tadašnji britanski premijer Winston Churchill odlučio da predvodi vojnu misiju pri Vrhovnom štabu Narodnooslobodilačkog pokreta. Macleanov zadatak bio je da utvrdi koliko su partizani efikasni u otporu prema okupatorskim snagama nacističke Nemačke. Macleanov izvještaj pridonio je promjeni stava Churchillove vlade i poslije, ostalih saveznika, koji su odlučili podržati partizanski pokret otpora u Jugoslaviji. Iako nije očekivao, Tito je na Macleana ostavio pozitivan dojam i njih dvojica su se viđali i poslije završetka Drugog svjetskog rata, piše BBC.

U uvodu dvominutnoga BBC-jeva filma iz 1986. godine kaže se: "Fitzroy Maclean predvodio je britansku vojnu misiju pri Vrhovnom štabu Narodnooslobodilačkog pokreta. Poslije njegovog izvještaja iz 1943. Winston Churchill je podržao partizane. Do tada su saveznici podržavali četnički pokret u Jugoslaviji".

Nakon toga u filmu se pojavljuje i sam Maclean i kaže: "Churchill mi je rekao, zvuči pomalo surovo: Tvoj posao je da saznaš tko ubija više Nijemaca i da mu pomogneš da ih ubije još više. Očekivao sam da će Tito biti običan aparatčik koji o svemu izvještava nadležne, a naišao sam na čovjeka sa sjajnim smislom za humor. On je bio spreman razgovarati o svemu i sam donijeti odluku. Za mene je on, prije svega, sjajan vojskovođa. Možda najveći komandant pokreta otpora u povijesti. Pored toga, bio je nevjerojatno šarmantan. Što se tiče politike, bio je veoma potkovan. Izuzetno je bio lukav. Također, bio je nesumnjivo veoma hrabar. Posjedovao je i moralnu i vojničku hrabrost", iznosi Maclean dojmove o Josipu Brozu Titu.

Dakle, osobni odnos Macleana i Tita bio je na čvrstim temeljima i imao je perspektive za nadogradnju. Kako se navodi u BBC-jevu filmu: "Maclean je često posjećivao Tita poslije završetka rata. Zahvaljujući prijateljstvu s njim, Maclean je kupio kuću na Korčuli".

NEMAŠ STAN, KUPI KUĆU

Da izbjegne bilo kakve zlonamjerne spekulacije kojih je uvijek bilo i bit će ih, Maclean odmah pojašnjava:  "Kupio sam ovu kuću vlastitim novcem, ali u to vrijeme stranci nisu smjeli posjedovati imovinu duže od 20 ili 30 godina, što bi meni bilo dovoljno. Tito je bio ljubazan i usvojio je zakon, omogućivši da postanem vlasnik ove kuće." 

Čitatelji iz sustava prije interneta sjećaju se Macleana, jednoga od najzaslužnijih za međunarodno  priznajnje Narodnooslobodilačke borbe. Hrvatska enciklopedija bilježi da je 1942. bio promaknut u čin satnika, a 1943. u čin potpukovnika i brigadira. "Kao član Konzervativne stranke bio je biran u Donji dom 1941–74. Od 1954. do 1957. bio je na položaju parlamentarnoga podtajnika i financijskog tajnika za ratnu službu. Autor je knjiga "Jugoslavija", 1969., "Bitka za Neretvu", 1970. i "Sažeta povijest Škotske", 1970.

Na internetu se može naći i nekrolog iz New York Timesa u kojem se kaže da je Maclean "neustrašivi Škot poznat po svojim dalekim vojnim pustolovinama u Drugom svjetskom ratu i spisima o dalekim zemljama, diplomat u Staljinovom Sovjetskom Savezu 1930-ih, putnik i autor niza knjiga".

"Nekima bi se moj život mogao činiti jednim dugim avanturističkim odmorom s dizanjem ​​u zrak tvrđave u pustinji,  spuštanjem padobranima u gerilske ratove i prodiranjem u zabranjene gradove duboko iza zatvorenih granica", rekao je Maclean u intervju NYT-u.

Los Angeles Times, pak, u svome nekrologu naziva ga "autorom kojega su često smatrali stvarnim prototipom izmišljenog špijuna Jamesa Bonda".

S takvom biografijom Sir Fitzroy Maclean nije i ne može biti zaboravljen.

   Na današnji dan prije 25 godina umro je Sir Fitzroy Maclean, britanski političar i povjesničar, rođen u Kairu 1911. godine.  Potomak škotske velikaške obitelji, kako ga opisuje Hrvatska enciklopedija, Maclean je nakon školovanja na koledžu Eton i Sveučilištu u Cambridgeu, 1933. godine stupio u diplomatsku službu  u Parizu i Moskvi. Potom je stupio u vojsku i od 1943. do 1945. bio je šef britanske vojne misije pri Vrhovnom štabu Narodnooslobodilačke vojske u Jugoslaviji.

Fitzroy Maclean je prvi put došao u Jugoslaviju 1943. kada je tadašnji britanski premijer Winston Churchill odlučio da predvodi vojnu misiju pri Vrhovnom štabu Narodnooslobodilačkog pokreta. Macleanov zadatak bio je da utvrdi koliko su partizani efikasni u otporu prema okupatorskim snagama nacističke Nemačke. Macleanov izvještaj pridonio je promjeni stava Churchillove vlade i poslije, ostalih saveznika, koji su odlučili podržati partizanski pokret otpora u Jugoslaviji. Iako nije očekivao, Tito je na Macleana ostavio pozitivan dojam i njih dvojica su se viđali i poslije završetka Drugog svjetskog rata, piše BBC.

U uvodu dvominutnoga BBC-jeva filma iz 1986. godine kaže se: "Fitzroy Maclean predvodio je britansku vojnu misiju pri Vrhovnom štabu Narodnooslobodilačkog pokreta. Poslije njegovog izvještaja iz 1943. Winston Churchill je podržao partizane. Do tada su saveznici podržavali četnički pokret u Jugoslaviji".

Nakon toga u filmu se pojavljuje i sam Maclean i kaže: "Churchill mi je rekao, zvuči pomalo surovo: Tvoj posao je da saznaš tko ubija više Nijemaca i da mu pomogneš da ih ubije još više. Očekivao sam da će Tito biti običan aparatčik koji o svemu izvještava nadležne, a naišao sam na čovjeka sa sjajnim smislom za humor. On je bio spreman razgovarati o svemu i sam donijeti odluku. Za mene je on, prije svega, sjajan vojskovođa. Možda najveći komandant pokreta otpora u povijesti. Pored toga, bio je nevjerojatno šarmantan. Što se tiče politike, bio je veoma potkovan. Izuzetno je bio lukav. Također, bio je nesumnjivo veoma hrabar. Posjedovao je i moralnu i vojničku hrabrost", iznosi Maclean dojmove o Josipu Brozu Titu.

Dakle, osobni odnos Macleana i Tita bio je na čvrstim temeljima i imao je perspektive za nadogradnju. Kako se navodi u BBC-jevu filmu: "Maclean je često posjećivao Tita poslije završetka rata. Zahvaljujući prijateljstvu s njim, Maclean je kupio kuću na Korčuli".

NEMAŠ STAN, KUPI KUĆU

Da izbjegne bilo kakve zlonamjerne spekulacije kojih je uvijek bilo i bit će ih, Maclean odmah pojašnjava:  "Kupio sam ovu kuću vlastitim novcem, ali u to vrijeme stranci nisu smjeli posjedovati imovinu duže od 20 ili 30 godina, što bi meni bilo dovoljno. Tito je bio ljubazan i usvojio je zakon, omogućivši da postanem vlasnik ove kuće." 

Čitatelji iz sustava prije interneta sjećaju se Macleana, jednoga od najzaslužnijih za međunarodno  priznajnje Narodnooslobodilačke borbe. Hrvatska enciklopedija bilježi da je 1942. bio promaknut u čin satnika, a 1943. u čin potpukovnika i brigadira. "Kao član Konzervativne stranke bio je biran u Donji dom 1941–74. Od 1954. do 1957. bio je na položaju parlamentarnoga podtajnika i financijskog tajnika za ratnu službu. Autor je knjiga "Jugoslavija", 1969., "Bitka za Neretvu", 1970. i "Sažeta povijest Škotske", 1970.

Na internetu se može naći i nekrolog iz New York Timesa u kojem se kaže da je Maclean "neustrašivi Škot poznat po svojim dalekim vojnim pustolovinama u Drugom svjetskom ratu i spisima o dalekim zemljama, diplomat u Staljinovom Sovjetskom Savezu 1930-ih, putnik i autor niza knjiga".

"Nekima bi se moj život mogao činiti jednim dugim avanturističkim odmorom s dizanjem ​​u zrak tvrđave u pustinji,  spuštanjem padobranima u gerilske ratove i prodiranjem u zabranjene gradove duboko iza zatvorenih granica", rekao je Maclean u intervju NYT-u.

Los Angeles Times, pak, u svome nekrologu naziva ga "autorom kojega su često smatrali stvarnim prototipom izmišljenog špijuna Jamesa Bonda".

S takvom biografijom Sir Fitzroy Maclean nije i ne može biti zaboravljen.
