Točno je jedno stoljeće i sedam mjeseci prošlo od smrti čuvenoga Slavoljuba Penkale, čovjeka koji je stvorio jednu od najuspješnijih hrvatskih robnih marki, prepoznate širom svijeta. Obljetnica smrti ujedno je i povod izložbi “Penkala iz Zbirke Tischler” koja će se održati tijekom Zagreb Design Weeka, u periodu od 6. do 9. rujna, na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu.

Ovo je, što zvuči gotovo nevjerojatno, prva izložba posvećena marki Penkala. Izloženi predmeti prikupljeni su zahvaljujući fanatičnoj posvećenosti Miroslava Tischlera koji desetljećima radi na stvaranju ove jedinstvene zbirke.
A svjetski uspjeh ovog vizionara vodi nas u daleku prošlost; sve je počelo još 24. siječnja 1906. kada je Penkala patentirao automatsku mehaničku olovku. Penkalin se izum danas ne doima toliko revolucionarnim, no u to doba definitivno je bio. Itekako! Čovjek je osuvremenio pisaći pribor i promijenio njegovu ondašnju društvenu poziciju. Do Penkalina izuma, grafitne olovke bile su najčešće drvene, pa su zahtijevale stalno šiljenje, ili su pak mehaničke, ali s vrlo složenim načinom mijenjanja i podešavanja grafitnog uloška, što opet nije bilo najsretnije rješenje. Penkala je izumio takozvanu tehničku olovku, a da nitko nakon njega nije smislio bolje rješenje, najbolje svjedoči činjenica da i danas takvu koristimo. Patent za olovku uskoro je registriran u čak sedamdeset država, i uz pomoć investitora, braće Moster — mlinara iz okolice Križevaca, započela je proizvodnja sedam mjeseci kasnije. Mehanička olovka ubrzo je postala “must have” predmet svakoga tko je znao u to doba pisati. U tvornici se, po Penkalinom patentu izrađivao i ostali pisaći pribor, poput štitnika i produživača za olovke, sušila, nalivpera...

Tržišni uspjeh bio je spektakularan, pa 1909. godine, Penkala otvara i tvornicu u Berlinu. Proizvodni je asortiman u obje tvornice bio isti, ali dok je zagrebačka tvornica proizvodila za cijeli svijet, berlinska je radila uglavnom za njemačko tržište.
Zbog rada punim kapacitetom 1911. godine u Zagrebu je otvorena nova, velika tvornica, a sljedeće godine tvrtka izlazi i na burzu. Otvoren je novi, drvni odjel za proizvodnju ravnala, trokuta, pernica, a ti su proizvodi bili tada najkvalitetniji na svijetu. Tada je potpuno zaokružen asortiman tvornice pisaćeg pribora, koji se plasirao ne samo u europske, države, već i u azijske i američke. U svijetu je, nećemo pogriješiti ako to ustvrdimo, zavladala prava penkalomanija!

Uvijek ispred vremena
Zagrebačka tvornica postala je jedna od najvećih i najmodernijih u Europi i to ne samo zbog toga. Ono što je Penkala omogućio tada djelatnicima, mnogi nemaju ni danas. U sklopu tvornice, naime, bio je veliki restoran i vrtić za djecu zaposlenih majki, jedan od prvih takve vrste na svijetu. Radnici su se nakon posla mogli istuširati u tvorničkim kupaonicama, osnovani su tamburaško društvo i nogometni klub “Penkala”, uspješni hrvatski drugoligaš.
Do 1921. proizvodnja je toliko narasla, da se uprava našla pred dilemom — uvesti noćnu smjenu ili otvoriti još jednu tvornicu. Odlučili su se za drugu varijantu i u Lepoglavi otvorili pogon za proizvodnju pisaćeg i školskog pribora od drveta.
Penkala je uvijek bio ispred svog vremena, kako u proizvodnji i dizajnu pisaćeg pribora, tako i u načinu njegova plasiranja na tržište. Karikatura samoga Penkale postala je maskota tvrtke. Uško - simpatični čovječuljak s golemim uhom za kojim je zataknuta automatska olovka, najoriginalnija je maskota proizvođača pisaćeg pribora. Sve je bilo idealno, a onda streloviti uspjeh tvrtke prekida iznenadna smrt slavnog inovatora. U siječnju 1922. vratio se s poslovnog puta s teškom upalom, pluća, a preminuo je 5. veljače. Naslijedili su ga supruga Emilija i brat Rudolf, a u to doba bilo je nezamislivo da žena obavlja tako odgovoran posao.

Žena s četvero djece nije se snašla, a braća Moster brzo su iz tvrtke izgurali Penkalinu obitelj i preuzeli sve patente. Ubrzo se pokazalo da ni braća nisu na visini zadatka, a 1927. odlučuju da im je isplativije prodati jedan patent za nalivpero, nego da sami započnu proizvodnju. Na kraju je taj patent postao najpoznatije nalivpero na svijetu.
Premda je bilo puno zainteresiranih, poput tvrtki Montblanc i Sönnecken, Mosteri su se odlučili za tvrtku Günther Wagner. Proizvodnja je započela 1929., revolucionarni model nazvan Pelikan 100 stekao je mitski status, te ga Pelikan proizvodi i danas. Mosteri su dobro zaradili na prodaji patenta, ali su stvorili najsnažnijeg konkurenta. Berlinska tvornica ubrzo je zapala u velike financijske probleme, a jačanje nacizma u Njemačkoj, natjeralo je židovsku braću Moster da prodaju tvornicu i vrate se u Zagreb.

U turbulentnim vremenima, nesigurnoj gospodarskoj i političkoj situaciji, braća Moster nisu se snašla. Godine 1933. gotovo da više nije bilo izvoza, a konkurencija poput Pelikana, Montblanca i Sönneckena sve je veća i jača. Početkom 1937. godine tvornica Penkala prestaje s radom i počinje rasprodaja imovine koja 31. svibnja 1939. završava likvidacijom tvrtke.

Točno je jedno stoljeće i sedam mjeseci prošlo od smrti čuvenoga Slavoljuba Penkale, čovjeka koji je stvorio jednu od najuspješnijih hrvatskih robnih marki, prepoznate širom svijeta. Obljetnica smrti ujedno je i povod izložbi “Penkala iz Zbirke Tischler” koja će se održati tijekom Zagreb Design Weeka, u periodu od 6. do 9. rujna, na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu.

Ovo je, što zvuči gotovo nevjerojatno, prva izložba posvećena marki Penkala. Izloženi predmeti prikupljeni su zahvaljujući fanatičnoj posvećenosti Miroslava Tischlera koji desetljećima radi na stvaranju ove jedinstvene zbirke.
A svjetski uspjeh ovog vizionara vodi nas u daleku prošlost; sve je počelo još 24. siječnja 1906. kada je Penkala patentirao automatsku mehaničku olovku. Penkalin se izum danas ne doima toliko revolucionarnim, no u to doba definitivno je bio. Itekako! Čovjek je osuvremenio pisaći pribor i promijenio njegovu ondašnju društvenu poziciju. Do Penkalina izuma, grafitne olovke bile su najčešće drvene, pa su zahtijevale stalno šiljenje, ili su pak mehaničke, ali s vrlo složenim načinom mijenjanja i podešavanja grafitnog uloška, što opet nije bilo najsretnije rješenje. Penkala je izumio takozvanu tehničku olovku, a da nitko nakon njega nije smislio bolje rješenje, najbolje svjedoči činjenica da i danas takvu koristimo. Patent za olovku uskoro je registriran u čak sedamdeset država, i uz pomoć investitora, braće Moster — mlinara iz okolice Križevaca, započela je proizvodnja sedam mjeseci kasnije. Mehanička olovka ubrzo je postala “must have” predmet svakoga tko je znao u to doba pisati. U tvornici se, po Penkalinom patentu izrađivao i ostali pisaći pribor, poput štitnika i produživača za olovke, sušila, nalivpera...

Tržišni uspjeh bio je spektakularan, pa 1909. godine, Penkala otvara i tvornicu u Berlinu. Proizvodni je asortiman u obje tvornice bio isti, ali dok je zagrebačka tvornica proizvodila za cijeli svijet, berlinska je radila uglavnom za njemačko tržište.
Zbog rada punim kapacitetom 1911. godine u Zagrebu je otvorena nova, velika tvornica, a sljedeće godine tvrtka izlazi i na burzu. Otvoren je novi, drvni odjel za proizvodnju ravnala, trokuta, pernica, a ti su proizvodi bili tada najkvalitetniji na svijetu. Tada je potpuno zaokružen asortiman tvornice pisaćeg pribora, koji se plasirao ne samo u europske, države, već i u azijske i američke. U svijetu je, nećemo pogriješiti ako to ustvrdimo, zavladala prava penkalomanija!

Uvijek ispred vremena
Zagrebačka tvornica postala je jedna od najvećih i najmodernijih u Europi i to ne samo zbog toga. Ono što je Penkala omogućio tada djelatnicima, mnogi nemaju ni danas. U sklopu tvornice, naime, bio je veliki restoran i vrtić za djecu zaposlenih majki, jedan od prvih takve vrste na svijetu. Radnici su se nakon posla mogli istuširati u tvorničkim kupaonicama, osnovani su tamburaško društvo i nogometni klub “Penkala”, uspješni hrvatski drugoligaš.
Do 1921. proizvodnja je toliko narasla, da se uprava našla pred dilemom — uvesti noćnu smjenu ili otvoriti još jednu tvornicu. Odlučili su se za drugu varijantu i u Lepoglavi otvorili pogon za proizvodnju pisaćeg i školskog pribora od drveta.
Penkala je uvijek bio ispred svog vremena, kako u proizvodnji i dizajnu pisaćeg pribora, tako i u načinu njegova plasiranja na tržište. Karikatura samoga Penkale postala je maskota tvrtke. Uško - simpatični čovječuljak s golemim uhom za kojim je zataknuta automatska olovka, najoriginalnija je maskota proizvođača pisaćeg pribora. Sve je bilo idealno, a onda streloviti uspjeh tvrtke prekida iznenadna smrt slavnog inovatora. U siječnju 1922. vratio se s poslovnog puta s teškom upalom, pluća, a preminuo je 5. veljače. Naslijedili su ga supruga Emilija i brat Rudolf, a u to doba bilo je nezamislivo da žena obavlja tako odgovoran posao.

Žena s četvero djece nije se snašla, a braća Moster brzo su iz tvrtke izgurali Penkalinu obitelj i preuzeli sve patente. Ubrzo se pokazalo da ni braća nisu na visini zadatka, a 1927. odlučuju da im je isplativije prodati jedan patent za nalivpero, nego da sami započnu proizvodnju. Na kraju je taj patent postao najpoznatije nalivpero na svijetu.
Premda je bilo puno zainteresiranih, poput tvrtki Montblanc i Sönnecken, Mosteri su se odlučili za tvrtku Günther Wagner. Proizvodnja je započela 1929., revolucionarni model nazvan Pelikan 100 stekao je mitski status, te ga Pelikan proizvodi i danas. Mosteri su dobro zaradili na prodaji patenta, ali su stvorili najsnažnijeg konkurenta. Berlinska tvornica ubrzo je zapala u velike financijske probleme, a jačanje nacizma u Njemačkoj, natjeralo je židovsku braću Moster da prodaju tvornicu i vrate se u Zagreb.

U turbulentnim vremenima, nesigurnoj gospodarskoj i političkoj situaciji, braća Moster nisu se snašla. Godine 1933. gotovo da više nije bilo izvoza, a konkurencija poput Pelikana, Montblanca i Sönneckena sve je veća i jača. Početkom 1937. godine tvornica Penkala prestaje s radom i počinje rasprodaja imovine koja 31. svibnja 1939. završava likvidacijom tvrtke.
