Europski astronomi otkrili su najveću dosad promatranu galaksiju, prenosi Zimo. 

Galaksija Alcyoneus, nazvana po grčkom divu kojeg je ubio Heraklo, široka je oko 16,3 milijuna svjetlosnih godina, što je čini četiri puta većom od prethodnog rekordera, IC 1101, koji ima promjer od 3,9 milijuna svjetlosnih godina.

Prema timu astronoma koji ju je otkrio, Alcyoneus je, izvan svoje goleme veličine, relativno obična galaksija.

Izvan geometrije, Alcyoneus i njegov domaćin sumnjivo su obični - ukupna niskofrekventna gustoća osvjetljenja, zvjezdana masa i masa supermasivne crne rupe sve su niže od onih srednjih divovskih radio galaksija, iako su slične onima srednjih divovskih radio galaksija, ističu europski astronomi u studiji koja se nalazi na repozitoriju arXiv i koja čeka znanstvene recenzije.

Otkriće masivne galaksije s "običnim" karakteristikama ostavilo je astronome da nagađaju i nastave svoja istraživanja, navodi se na portalu Zimo.

Europski astronomi otkrili su najveću dosad promatranu galaksiju, prenosi Zimo. 

Galaksija Alcyoneus, nazvana po grčkom divu kojeg je ubio Heraklo, široka je oko 16,3 milijuna svjetlosnih godina, što je čini četiri puta većom od prethodnog rekordera, IC 1101, koji ima promjer od 3,9 milijuna svjetlosnih godina.

Prema timu astronoma koji ju je otkrio, Alcyoneus je, izvan svoje goleme veličine, relativno obična galaksija.

Izvan geometrije, Alcyoneus i njegov domaćin sumnjivo su obični - ukupna niskofrekventna gustoća osvjetljenja, zvjezdana masa i masa supermasivne crne rupe sve su niže od onih srednjih divovskih radio galaksija, iako su slične onima srednjih divovskih radio galaksija, ističu europski astronomi u studiji koja se nalazi na repozitoriju arXiv i koja čeka znanstvene recenzije.

Otkriće masivne galaksije s "običnim" karakteristikama ostavilo je astronome da nagađaju i nastave svoja istraživanja, navodi se na portalu Zimo.

Europski astronomi otkrili su najveću dosad promatranu galaksiju, prenosi Zimo. 

Galaksija Alcyoneus, nazvana po grčkom divu kojeg je ubio Heraklo, široka je oko 16,3 milijuna svjetlosnih godina, što je čini četiri puta većom od prethodnog rekordera, IC 1101, koji ima promjer od 3,9 milijuna svjetlosnih godina.

Prema timu astronoma koji ju je otkrio, Alcyoneus je, izvan svoje goleme veličine, relativno obična galaksija.

Izvan geometrije, Alcyoneus i njegov domaćin sumnjivo su obični - ukupna niskofrekventna gustoća osvjetljenja, zvjezdana masa i masa supermasivne crne rupe sve su niže od onih srednjih divovskih radio galaksija, iako su slične onima srednjih divovskih radio galaksija, ističu europski astronomi u studiji koja se nalazi na repozitoriju arXiv i koja čeka znanstven...
