Riječ malčiranje je donedavno bila nepoznata ali zadnjih godina se češće spominje pogotovo u krajevima u kojima su sve više i više temperature i sve češće toplotni udari. Malčiranje je mjera koja čuva kvalitetu zemljišta, tj. pokrivanje zemljišta pokrovnim materijalom kako bi se pospješila regulacija temperature zemljišta, onemogućilo isparavanje vode i rast korova, a ujedno i očuvalo plodove čistima i higijenski ispravnima. Malčiranje se vrši organskim ili anorganskim materijalima. Najčešće je riječ o organskim materijalima i to sijenom, slamom, lišćem, korom drveća i žetvenim ostacima.

Najbolje je oko biljaka staviti 5-10 cm malča. Sav taj prirodni malč na kraju se raspadne i postaje dio tla pa ga tijekom vremena treba dodavati. Dodavanje novog malča ovisi o brojnim čimbenicima, kao što su vremenski uvjeti i vrsta korištenog malča. Neki će malč trajati do pet godina, dok će se drugi razgraditi za godinu dana. 

Neki se malčevi raspadaju brže od drugih. Materijali poput usitnjenog lišća i komposta raspadaju se prilično brzo, dok većim malčom od kore treba više vremena. Vrijeme će također uzrokovati da se malč manje ili više brzo raspada. Dakle, pitanje dodavanja malča ovisi o vrsti malča koji koristite, kao i o vremenskim uvjetima.

Ako niste sigurni kada dodati novi malč, uzmite šaku malča. Ako su čestice postale male i više nalikuju tlu, vrijeme je za nadopunu. Ako je malč još uvijek relativno netaknut, možete ga zadržati. Ako želite izmijeniti gredicu s kompostom i/ili uvesti nove biljke, jednostavno pomaknite malč sa strane.

Kad završite sa svojim zadatkom, zamijenite malč oko biljaka. Malč za drvo, posebno usitnjeni malč za drva, sklon je stvrdnjavanju koje sprječava prodiranje vode i sunčeve svjetlosti. Pograbljajte malč  kako biste ga prozračili i, ako je potrebno, dodajte dodatni malč. Međutim, ako prekriveni malč pokazuje znakove gljivica ili plijesni, uklonite ga.

Lagani, vrlo slomljeni malč (poput usitnjenog lišća) možda će biti potrebno zamijeniti dva puta godišnje, dok teži malč od kore može trajati godinama.  Razmislite o dodavanju malča kada ga u vašim gredicama ima manje od 3 cm, a oko grmlja i drveća manje od 5 cm. Ako ste pali za centimetar ili više, općenito možete nadopuniti stari sloj s dovoljno novog malča kako biste nadoknadili razliku.

Riječ malčiranje je donedavno bila nepoznata ali zadnjih godina se češće spominje pogotovo u krajevima u kojima su sve više i više temperature i sve češće toplotni udari. Malčiranje je mjera koja čuva kvalitetu zemljišta, tj. pokrivanje zemljišta pokrovnim materijalom kako bi se pospješila regulacija temperature zemljišta, onemogućilo isparavanje vode i rast korova, a ujedno i očuvalo plodove čistima i higijenski ispravnima. Malčiranje se vrši organskim ili anorganskim materijalima. Najčešće je riječ o organskim materijalima i to sijenom, slamom, lišćem, korom drveća i žetvenim ostacima.

Najbolje je oko biljaka staviti 5-10 cm malča. Sav taj prirodni malč na kraju se raspadne i postaje dio tla pa ga tijekom vremena treba dodavati. Dodavanje novog malča ovisi o brojnim čimbenicima, kao što su vremenski uvjeti i vrsta korištenog malča. Neki će malč trajati do pet godina, dok će se drugi razgraditi za godinu dana. 

Neki se malčevi raspadaju brže od drugih. Materijali poput usitnjenog lišća i komposta raspadaju se prilično brzo, dok većim malčom od kore treba više vremena. Vrijeme će također uzrokovati da se malč manje ili više brzo raspada. Dakle, pitanje dodavanja malča ovisi o vrsti malča koji koristite, kao i o vremenskim uvjetima.

Ako niste sigurni kada dodati novi malč, uzmite šaku malča. Ako su čestice postale male i više nalikuju tlu, vrijeme je za nadopunu. Ako je malč još uvijek relativno netaknut, možete ga zadržati. Ako želite izmijeniti gredicu s kompostom i/ili uvesti nove biljke, jednostavno pomaknite malč sa strane.

Kad završite sa svojim zadatkom, zamijenite malč oko biljaka. Malč za drvo, posebno usitnjeni malč za drva, sklon je stvrdnjavanju koje sprječava prodiranje vode i sunčeve svjetlosti. Pograbljajte malč  kako biste ga prozračili i, ako je potrebno, dodajte dodatni malč. Međutim, ako prekriveni malč pokazuje znakove gljivica ili plijesni, uklonite ga.

Lagani, vrlo slomljeni malč (poput usitnjenog lišća) možda će biti potrebno zamijeniti dva puta godišnje, dok teži malč od kore može trajati godinama.  Razmislite o dodavanju malča kada ga u vašim gredicama ima manje od 3 cm, a oko grmlja i drveća manje od 5 cm. Ako ste pali za centimetar ili više, općenito možete nadopuniti stari sloj s dovoljno novog malča kako biste nadoknadili razliku.
