Novo istraživanje objavljeno ovog tjedna u časopisu 'Pediatrics' potvrđuje ono s čime se majke suočavaju stoljećima, da postporođajna depresija nije samo nešto što napada u tjednima i mjesecima neposredno nakon poroda. Može trajati godinama, a s vremenom može postajati i sve gora, piše Huffington post.

U studiji, koja je u dugom trajanju pratila 5 tisuća majki u New Yorku, jedna četvrtina žena imala je povišene simptome depresije u nekom trenutku u tri godine nakon poroda. Do čak 80% novopečenih mama doživi neku verziju takozvanog "baby bluesa" u prvih nekoliko tjedana nakon poroda. Mogu se osjećati tužno, tjeskobno i puno plakati. Njihova se raspoloženja mogu brzo mijenjati kako im hormoni fluktuiraju, dok se brinu o ranjivom dojenčetu pritom najčešće posve neispavane.

Međutim simptomi depresije su puno ozbiljni od ovoga i mogu voditi do suicidalnih misli. Kao što je jedan majka ispričala za HuffPost, kroz tri godine loša raspoloženja kod nje nisu jenjavala, štoviše vodila su je sve dalje do detaljnog planiranja kako sebi oduzeti život dok nije potražila stručnu pomoć.

Postporođajna depresija može biti vrlo teška i premda se često javlja u tjednima nakon porođaja, ponekad može trajati i punih godinu dana ili, kao što pokazuje ovo novo istraživanje, čak i duže.  Do 50 posto majki osjećalo je simptome depresije i nakon što je njihovo dijete proslavilo prvi rođendan.

Baš kao majka koja je progovorila o svom iskustvu i drugim ženama treba dugo da svoje simptome podijele s bližnjima ili se povjere psihijatrima. Često se depresija pogoršava jer žene osjećaju da su podbacile kao majke ili da će ih okolina proglasiti ludima. Proširenje našeg kolektivnog razumijevanja koliko dugo može trajati postporođajna depresija važno je uglavnom zbog toga da majke shvate da nisu iznimka te da mnoge proživljavaju isto.

Američka akademija za pedijatriju preporučuje pedijatrima da više puta provjere probleme mentalnog zdravlja kod majki svojih pacijenata u prvih šest mjeseci nakon što su rodile. Međutim ni to neće biti dosta jer majke možda neće rado govoriti o tome kako se osjećaju iz straha od osude da ih oni čine lošim roditeljima.

Zbog toga autori nove studije jasno tvrde da su razgovori s pedijatrom nedovoljni i da bi rodilje trebale ići na obaveznu evaluaciju psihičkog stanja tijekom prve dvije godine nakon što dobiju dijete. Ako se perinatalni poremećaj raspoloženja i anksioznosti ne liječi, mogu se nastaviti u nedogled, a simptomi mogu postati permanentni.

Mnogi liječnici tvrde da bi primijetili stanje svojih pacijentica jer ih dobro poznaju no pokazalo se u raznim slučajevima i nevezanima za postporođajnu, već običnu depresiju da su pacijenti sposobniji prikriti svoje stanje bolje nego što se to misli. To ih može dovesti u opasnost, posebno ako su pritom izmoreni i imaju odgovornost brige za vlastito dijete koje u prvim godinama ipak najviše ovisi upravo o majci.

Novo istraživanje objavljeno ovog tjedna u časopisu 'Pediatrics' potvrđuje ono s čime se majke suočavaju stoljećima, da postporođajna depresija nije samo nešto što napada u tjednima i mjesecima neposredno nakon poroda. Može trajati godinama, a s vremenom može postajati i sve gora, piše Huffington post.

U studiji, koja je u dugom trajanju pratila 5 tisuća majki u New Yorku, jedna četvrtina žena imala je povišene simptome depresije u nekom trenutku u tri godine nakon poroda. Do čak 80% novopečenih mama doživi neku verziju takozvanog "baby bluesa" u prvih nekoliko tjedana nakon poroda. Mogu se osjećati tužno, tjeskobno i puno plakati. Njihova se raspoloženja mogu brzo mijenjati kako im hormoni fluktuiraju, dok se brinu o ranjivom dojenčetu pritom najčešće posve neispavane.

Međutim simptomi depresije su puno ozbiljni od ovoga i mogu voditi do suicidalnih misli. Kao što je jedan majka ispričala za HuffPost, kroz tri godine loša raspoloženja kod nje nisu jenjavala, štoviše vodila su je sve dalje do detaljnog planiranja kako sebi oduzeti život dok nije potražila stručnu pomoć.

Postporođajna depresija može biti vrlo teška i premda se često javlja u tjednima nakon porođaja, ponekad može trajati i punih godinu dana ili, kao što pokazuje ovo novo istraživanje, čak i duže.  Do 50 posto majki osjećalo je simptome depresije i nakon što je njihovo dijete proslavilo prvi rođendan.

Baš kao majka koja je progovorila o svom iskustvu i drugim ženama treba dugo da svoje simptome podijele s bližnjima ili se povjere psihijatrima. Često se depresija pogoršava jer žene osjećaju da su podbacile kao majke ili da će ih okolina proglasiti ludima. Proširenje našeg kolektivnog razumijevanja koliko dugo može trajati postporođajna depresija važno je uglavnom zbog toga da majke shvate da nisu iznimka te da mnoge proživljavaju isto.

Američka akademija za pedijatriju preporučuje pedijatrima da više puta provjere probleme mentalnog zdravlja kod majki svojih pacijenata u prvih šest mjeseci nakon što su rodile. Međutim ni to neće biti dosta jer majke možda neće rado govoriti o tome kako se osjećaju iz straha od osude da ih oni čine lošim roditeljima.

Zbog toga autori nove studije jasno tvrde da su razgovori s pedijatrom nedovoljni i da bi rodilje trebale ići na obaveznu evaluaciju psihičkog stanja tijekom prve dvije godine nakon što dobiju dijete. Ako se perinatalni poremećaj raspoloženja i anksioznosti ne liječi, mogu se nastaviti u nedogled, a simptomi mogu postati permanentni.

Mnogi liječnici tvrde da bi primijetili stanje svojih pacijentica jer ih dobro poznaju no pokazalo se u raznim slučajevima i nevezanima za postporođajnu, već običnu depresiju da su pacijenti sposobniji prikriti svoje stanje bolje nego što se to misli. To ih može dovesti u opasnost, posebno ako su pritom izmoreni i imaju odgovornost brige za vlastito dijete koje u prvim godinama ipak najviše ovisi upravo o majci.

Iznenađujuće novo istraživanje pokazuje da postporođajna depresija može trajati puno dulje no što se do sada mislilo

Novo istraživanje objavljeno ovog tjedna u časopisu 'Pediatrics' potvrđuje ono s čime se majke suočavaju stoljećima, da postporođajna depresija nije samo nešto što napada u tjednima i mjesecima neposredno nakon poroda. Može trajati godinama, a s vremenom može postajati i sve gora, piše Huffington post.

U studiji, koja je u dugom trajanju pratila 5 tisuća majki u New Yorku, jedna četvrtina žena imala je povišene simptome depresije u nekom trenutku u tri godine nakon poroda. Do čak 80% novopečenih mama doživi neku verziju takozvanog "baby bluesa" u prvih nekoliko tjedana nakon poroda. Mogu se osjećati tužno, tjeskobno i puno plakati. Njihova se raspoloženja mogu brzo mijenjati kako im hormoni fluktuiraju, dok se brinu o ranjivom dojenčetu pritom najčešće posve neispavane....
