Turisti i vjernici koji su u jednom dijelu 2019. godine posjetili baziliku San Giovanni in Laterno u Rimu imali su jedinstvenu priliku vidjeti, ali i popeti se Svetim stubama koje su bile otkrivene po prvi put nakon 300 godina, a za koje se vjeruje da ih je Isus prehodao na putu do Pocija Pilata, piše National Geographic.

Stepenice poznate pod latinskim nazivom Scala Sancta inače su pokrivene orahovim daskama, ali u tom kratkom periodu od dva mjeseca oko Uskrsa te godine njima se moglo hodati ili pak na njima moliti.
U originalu su stepenice obložene mramorom i na tri mjesta se nalaze tri kapi Isusove krvi za koje se vjeruje da su pale tijekom njegovog uspona. Te su kapi obilježene srednjovjekovnim križevima, a turisti ih ne prestaju ljubiti i dodirivati dok se na vrh stepenica penju na koljenima.
Od podnožja do vrha ima ukupno 28 stepenica.
Iako nema pisanih tragova, otac Francesco Guera, rektor Svetih stepenica, kaže da je prema predaji majka cara Konstantina, Helena, strastvena sakupljačica Isusovih relikvija u 4. stoljeću, tražila da se stepenice donesu u Jeruzalem.

Stepenice poznate pod latinskim nazivom Scala Sancta inače su pokrivene orahovim daskama, ali u tom kratkom periodu od dva mjeseca oko Uskrsa te godine njima se moglo hodati ili pak na njima moliti.
U originalu su stepenice obložene mramorom i na tri mjesta se nalaze tri kapi Isusove krvi za koje se vjeruje da su pale tijekom njegovog uspona. Te su kapi obilježene srednjovjekovnim križevima, a turisti ih ne prestaju ljubiti i dodirivati dok se na vrh stepenica penju na koljenima.
Od podnožja do vrha ima ukupno 28 stepenica.
Iako nema pisanih tragova, otac Francesco Guera, rektor Svetih stepenica, kaže da je prema predaji majka cara Konstantina, Helena, strastvena sakupljačica Isusovih relikvija u 4. stoljeću, tražila da se stepenice donesu u Jeruzalem.
