Nakon 70 napisanih kratkih priča i novela u raznim časopisima i zbirkama koje okupljaju zaljubljenike u znanstveno-fantastičnu tematiku, šibenski autor Ed Barol upustio sei u pisanje romana.

I lako mu ide, dva je već ukoričio, a treći pod nazivom “Nešto između” upravo je izišao u splitskoj Nakladi “Fragment”. Budući da mu je smišljanje priča najmanji problem, puno čita i pritom stalno razmišlja u kojem pravcu bi se mogla radnja odmotati, ovaj mu sigurno neće biti zadnji. Pitanje je samo vremena, jer njega mu za pisanje najviše nedostaje.

- Pišem kad stignem, kad uhvatim vremena, nisam profesionalni pisac – kaže ovaj 53-godišnji nastavnik tehničke kulture za osnovce koji, da bi ispunio nastavničku satnicu, predaje u nekoliko malih područnih škola u Drnišu, Segetu, Marini i Ljubitovici. Škola s malo djece i puno zadovoljstva.

- Pisanje romana zahtijeva dosta vremena – objašnjava Ed Barol. - Barem tri mjeseca po nekoliko sati dnevno pisanja, a istraživanje za roman je drukčije nego za kratku priču. Mada, uvjerio sam se da je puno teže napisati dobru kratku priču i sažeti ono što želiš reći na 15 kartica. Istrenirao sam se na kratkim pričama i s urednicima koji su od mene tražili da pišem u kratkom formatu. Tako da mislim da u svojim romanima ne “davim” suvišnim detaljima – smijući se veli autor.

A iza njega je iskustvo pisanja u čitavom nizu publikacija, poput Sirius B, Zarez, Nosf magazin, Parsek, Eridan, Sferakonske i Istrakonske zbirke... Dobitnik je, među ostalim, šest nagrada Sfera za kratku priču, a objavljivao je, osim u nama susjednim zemljama, i u Rumunjskoj, Italiji i Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama.

U knjižnici ‘Dalmatina’ predstavljen je roman ‘Nešto između’ autora Eda Barola

Aj ća, volin te

Veliki je zaljubljenik u znanost, odatle crpi ideje za svoje distopijske priče, no posljednjih godina “mijenja kurs” i širi područje interesa izvan naučno-fantastičnog žanra. Roman “Nešto između” tako je povijesna drama s elementima trilera.

Priča je to o nepreboljenoj ljubavi u kojoj dominiraju dva snažna ženska lika iste obitelji, a pratimo je kroz 70 godina dugi period u neidentificiranom Mistu, smještenom negdje između Zadra i Splita. Priča o prošlosti i sadašnjosti, dobru i zlu, začinjena nasiljem, ubojstvima i seksom, svakako neočekivanog raspleta. Ljubav i pohlepa su veliki pokretači događaja, smatra autor.

- Ideja mi se pojavila u automobilu dok sam se vozio iz Istre do Šibenika. Na radiju je svirala ona pjesma u kojoj se ponavljaju riječi “Aj ća, volin te” i nešto u tim muško-ženskim odnosima se u mojoj glavi oblikovalo u priču. Do Šibenika sam već imao gotovu ideju, onda je došao teži dio, sve to složiti u roman. Za povijesnu pozadinu sam jako puno čitao Enza Betizzu, njegove romane, autobiografiju – govori šibenski pisac o svom romanu koji je imao i splitsku promociju u prostorijama knjižnice “Marko Marulić”.

Posjetiteljima književne večeri objasnio je da je svoj spisateljski pseudonim – zapravo anagram od njegova pravog imena Edi Labor – izabrao po uvriježenoj praksi na SF sceni.

- Prezime Labor ima asocijaciju na radničku stranku ili trudove, pa nije bilo atraktivno, pogotovu za američkog urednika na primjer. A ispričali su mi poslije neki knjižari kad mi je izašao roman “Vrelo tame” da kupci knjiga radije biraju strane autore nego one kojima prezime završava na “ić”, to je neki fenomen – čudi se pisac.

Pitanje autorskih prava

U školama u kojima radi tako njegovo pisanje prolazi “ispod radara”, generacije đaka nisu ni znale da im tehničku kulturu predaje pisac u čijoj mašti se nižu “paralelni svjetovi”. Ali njega to ne smeta (“malo oni čitaju, jedva stižu i lektiru”). Ponekad želi biti više u Zagrebu u kojem je uzbudljivija književna scena, nedostaju mu festivali, književne večeri, susreti, Šibenik je mali grad.

Pisanje je ipak usamljenički posao, za njega ono je radosno stvaranje a ovog trena Ed Barol ima kod kuće čak pet novih priča na kojima radi! Sve su to budući romani, dva znanstveno-fantastična, dva krimića, jedna drama, a kada će dobiti korice - ovisi samo o vremenu.

Ne brinu ga ni pisci-roboti, umjetna inteligencija koja je ušla u područje pisane i likovne umjetnosti – nešto o čemu je kao SF pisac sigurno spekulirao:

- Umjetna inteligencija izvlači samo ono što smo mi ljudi već napisali i iz toga pravi neki svoj ekstrakt. Ona nije još u stanju stvoriti nešto istinski novo, nešto istinski kreativno. Umjetna inteligencija nije došla do toga da napravi nešto originalno, svoje. Svijet i dalje treba ljudske pisce.

Grafičari i slikari su već potegnuli pitanje autorskih prava u korištenju AI radova i žele to zabraniti, možda će i pisci tražiti isto u slučaju kad robot nadograđuje njihovo da bi stvorio svoj sadržaj. Ako se ne uspije to zaštititi, onda se pisci imaju čega bojati, to bi već moglo biti opasno. Vidjet ćemo – kaže nam Ed Barol.

Nakon 70 napisanih kratkih priča i novela u raznim časopisima i zbirkama koje okupljaju zaljubljenike u znanstveno-fantastičnu tematiku, šibenski autor Ed Barol upustio sei u pisanje romana.

I lako mu ide, dva je već ukoričio, a treći pod nazivom “Nešto između” upravo je izišao u splitskoj Nakladi “Fragment”. Budući da mu je smišljanje priča najmanji problem, puno čita i pritom stalno razmišlja u kojem pravcu bi se mogla radnja odmotati, ovaj mu sigurno neće biti zadnji. Pitanje je samo vremena, jer njega mu za pisanje najviše nedostaje.

- Pišem kad stignem, kad uhvatim vremena, nisam profesionalni pisac – kaže ovaj 53-godišnji nastavnik tehničke kulture za osnovce koji, da bi ispunio nastavničku satnicu, predaje u nekoliko malih područnih škola u Drnišu, Segetu, Marini i Ljubitovici. Škola s malo djece i puno zadovoljstva.

- Pisanje romana zahtijeva dosta vremena – objašnjava Ed Barol. - Barem tri mjeseca po nekoliko sati dnevno pisanja, a istraživanje za roman je drukčije nego za kratku priču. Mada, uvjerio sam se da je puno teže napisati dobru kratku priču i sažeti ono što želiš reći na 15 kartica. Istrenirao sam se na kratkim pričama i s urednicima koji su od mene tražili da pišem u kratkom formatu. Tako da mislim da u svojim romanima ne “davim” suvišnim detaljima – smijući se veli autor.

A iza njega je iskustvo pisanja u čitavom nizu publikacija, poput Sirius B, Zarez, Nosf magazin, Parsek, Eridan, Sferakonske i Istrakonske zbirke... Dobitnik je, među ostalim, šest nagrada Sfera za kratku priču, a objavljivao je, osim u nama susjednim zemljama, i u Rumunjskoj, Italiji i Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama.

Aj ća, volin te

Veliki je zaljubljenik u znanost, odatle crpi ideje za svoje distopijske priče, no posljednjih godina “mijenja kurs” i širi područje interesa izvan naučno-fantastičnog žanra. Roman “Nešto između” tako je povijesna drama s elementima trilera.

Priča je to o nepreboljenoj ljubavi u kojoj dominiraju dva snažna ženska lika iste obitelji, a pratimo je kroz 70 godina dugi period u neidentificiranom Mistu, smještenom negdje između Zadra i Splita. Priča o prošlosti i sadašnjosti, dobru i zlu, začinjena nasiljem, ubojstvima i seksom, svakako neočekivanog raspleta. Ljubav i pohlepa su veliki pokretači događaja, smatra autor.

- Ideja mi se pojavila u automobilu dok sam se vozio iz Istre do Šibenika. Na radiju je svirala ona pjesma u kojoj se ponavljaju riječi “Aj ća, volin te” i nešto u tim muško-ženskim odnosima se u mojoj glavi oblikovalo u priču. Do Šibenika sam već imao gotovu ideju, onda je došao teži dio, sve to složiti u roman. Za povijesnu pozadinu sam jako puno čitao Enza Betizzu, njegove romane, autobiografiju – govori šibenski pisac o svom romanu koji je imao i splitsku promociju u prostorijama knjižnice “Marko Marulić”.

Posjetiteljima književne večeri objasnio je da je svoj spisateljski pseudonim – zapravo anagram od njegova pravog imena Edi Labor – izabrao po uvriježenoj praksi na SF sceni.

- Prezime Labor ima asocijaciju na radničku stranku ili trudove, pa nije bilo atraktivno, pogotovu za američkog urednika na primjer. A ispričali su mi poslije neki knjižari kad mi je izašao roman “Vrelo tame” da kupci knjiga radije biraju strane autore nego one kojima prezime završava na “ić”, to je neki fenomen – čudi se pisac.

Pitanje autorskih prava

U školama u kojima radi tako njegovo pisanje prolazi “ispod radara”, generacije đaka nisu ni znale da im tehničku kulturu predaje pisac u čijoj mašti se nižu “paralelni svjetovi”. Ali njega to ne smeta (“malo oni čitaju, jedva stižu i lektiru”). Ponekad želi biti više u Zagrebu u kojem je uzbudljivija književna scena, nedostaju mu festivali, književne večeri, susreti, Šibenik je mali grad.

Pisanje je ipak usamljenički posao, za njega ono je radosno stvaranje a ovog trena Ed Barol ima kod kuće čak pet novih priča na kojima radi! Sve su to budući romani, dva znanstveno-fantastična, dva krimića, jedna drama, a kada će dobiti korice - ovisi samo o vremenu.

Ne brinu ga ni pisci-roboti, umjetna inteligencija koja je ušla u područje pisane i likovne umjetnosti – nešto o čemu je kao SF pisac sigurno spekulirao:

- Umjetna inteligencija izvlači samo ono što smo mi ljudi već napisali i iz toga pravi neki svoj ekstrakt. Ona nije još u stanju stvoriti nešto istinski novo, nešto istinski kreativno. Umjetna inteligencija nije došla do toga da napravi nešto originalno, svoje. Svijet i dalje treba ljudske pisce.

Grafičari i slikari su već potegnuli pitanje autorskih prava u korištenju AI radova i žele to zabraniti, možda će i pisci tražiti isto u slučaju kad robot nadograđuje njihovo da bi stvorio svoj sadržaj. Ako se ne uspije to zaštititi, onda se pisci imaju čega bojati, to bi već moglo biti opasno. Vidjet ćemo – kaže nam Ed Barol.
