Bazen "jede" ljude u prvom hororu 2024. godine "Zaroni, preživi!" ("Night Swim"). Bilo je štofa da "Zaroni, preživi" rekreira koncept suludih hororaca s kraja sedamdesetih/početka osamdesetih tipa "Blood Beach" i "Death Bed" o proždrljivoj plaži i krevetu, kao što je to prije par godina pokušao napraviti "Killer Sofa".
Nažalost, "Night Swim" nije zaplivao u tom zabavnom "trashy" smjeru, već je zaronio u bunar ozbiljnih (američkih remakeova) japanskih nadnaravnih horora poput "Kruga " i probao tamo pronaći neku novu Samaru , sablasnu avet mokru do gole kože, ali baš i nije uspio.

Poznati producenti Jason Blum ("Paranormalno ") i James Wan ("Prizivanja "), veterani žanra strave i užasa, trebali su kvalitetnijim filmom zapečatiti vijest o sjedinjavanju njihovih kompanija Atomic Monster i Blumhouse da se kao "vrhunski domovi za horor" nađu "pod istim krovom".
Da su to napravili prošlogodišnjeg siječnja kad je njihova "M3gan " krenula u kina, ne bismo ni riječ rekli. "M3gan" je jedan od rijetkih filmova koji je razbio začarani krug osrednje-slabašnih siječanjskih horora kao što su "Propušteni poziv", "Izgubljena duša ", "Sotona: razotkrivanje ", "Šuma užasa ", "Paranormalno: Obilježeni ", "Bye Bye Man ", "Kletva "...
"Zaroni, preživi" redatelja i scenarista Brycea McGuirea možda je mrvu bolji ili manje loš od većine navedenih, ali svejedno jedan od onih generičnih hororčića, osuđen da brzo potone u zaborav. McGuire je snimio film prema svom kratkometražnom hororu iz 2014. i od njega stvorio cjelovečernjak.

Nije "Night Swim" prvi takav slučaj. Dosta je poznatih horora "produženo" iz kratkih filmova na dugi metar, primjerice "Zla smrt ", "Slagalica strave ", "Mama ", "Ogledalo smrti ", "Babadook", "Igra strave ", "Smiješak ", "Piggy ", "Terrifier "... Čak je i Wan producirao jedan film koji je prošao sličnu genezu ("Kad se svjetla ugase ").
Međutim, ovdje očito nije bilo štofa za tako nešto, odnosno da se premisa "Žena pliva u svom bazenu noću, ali nešto je promatra" rastegne na devedesetak minuta. Nakon uvodnog prologa iz 1992. godine, koji traje otprilike koliko i izvorni, četverominutni kratki film, a u njemu će ukleti bazen progutati djevojčicu, upoznajemo obitelj Waller.
Obitelj se useljava u kuću s bazenom iz prve scene, Ray (Wyatt Russell , sin legendarnog Kurta ), njegova supruga Eve (friška oskarovska nominentica Kerry Condon ; "Duhovi otoka "), njihova kćerka tinejdžerka Izzy (Amelie Hoeferle iz novih "Igara gladi "; izgleda kao mlađa sestra Abbie Cornish ) i sin Elliot (Gavin Warren ).
Ray je igrač bejzbola koji se morao povući iz igre nakon što je otkrio da boluje od multiple skleroze, a liječnik mu je preporučio "vodenu terapiju", tako da mu bazen dolazi kao naručen. Isprve bazen pomaže njegovoj bolesti pa Ray hoda bez štapa i ponovno zamahuje bejzbolskom palicom. "Taj bazen je nešto najbolje što mi se dogodilo", govori Ray.

No, članovi njegove familije uviđaju da "nešto nije u redu s ovim bazenom", opažajući neku prikazu crne kose u dubini bazena ili pored njegova ruba dok plivaju. "Nešto je tamo i zgrabilo me", usklikne Izzy nakon što u bazenu zaigra igru "Marco Polo". Jasno, neće dugo vremena proći da se Ray pod utjecajem bazena počne ponašati kao Jack Torrance u "Isijavanju ".
Tehnika plašenja redatelja McGuirea svodi se na varijacije svega navedenog u zadnje tri rečenice i pojačanog snažnim "jump scare" momentima, što će reći da je već viđena i debelo klišeizirana, a nepotreban je i pokušaj pretjeranog objašnjavanja porijekla bazena beskrajnog zla (izgrađen na ukradenoj starosjedilačkoj zemlji itd.) umjesto da, za promjenu, ostane misteriozno.
S druge strane, McGuire pokazuje potencijal za detalje i kadriranja uključujući naopake rakurse, refleksije, podvodne kadrove i vodu kao element, poput kapljica kiše na vjetrobranskom staklu. Kamera je pozicionirana tako da istovremeno snima površinu bazena koju dodiruje i nešto zlo što potencijalno vreba ispod nje ili na "kopnu" kad se objektiv nalazi na određenoj dubini i preuzima iskrivljenu podvodnu perspektivu. Jednog dana McGuire bi mogao snimiti baš dobar horor film. "Night Swim" to nije.

"Nešto je tamo i zgrabilo me." – "Zaroni, preživi" (2023.)
Bazen "jede" ljude u prvom hororu 2024. godine "Zaroni, preživi!" ("Night Swim"). Bilo je štofa da "Zaroni, preživi" rekreira koncept suludih hororaca s kraja sedamdesetih/početka osamdesetih tipa "Blood Beach" i "Death Bed" o proždrljivoj plaži i krevetu, kao što je to prije par godina pokušao napraviti "Killer Sofa".
Nažalost, "Night Swim" nije zaplivao u tom zabavnom "trashy" smjeru, već je zaronio u bunar ozbiljnih (američkih remakeova) japanskih nadnaravnih horora poput "Kruga " i probao tamo pronaći neku novu Samaru , sablasnu avet mokru do gole kože, ali baš i nije uspio.

Poznati producenti Jason Blum ("Paranormalno ") i James Wan ("Prizivanja "), veterani žanra strave i užasa, trebali su kvalitetnijim filmom zapečatiti vijest o sjedinjavanju njihovih kompanija Atomic Monster i Blumhouse da se kao "vrhunski domovi za horor" nađu "pod istim krovom".
Da su to napravili prošlogodišnjeg siječnja kad je njihova "M3gan " krenula u kina, ne bismo ni riječ rekli. "M3gan" je jedan od rijetkih filmova koji je razbio začarani krug osrednje-slabašnih siječanjskih horora kao što su "Propušteni poziv", "Izgubljena duša ", "Sotona: razotkrivanje ", "Šuma užasa ", "Paranormalno: Obilježeni ", "Bye Bye Man ", "Kletva "...
"Zaroni, preživi" redatelja i scenarista Brycea McGuirea možda je mrvu bolji ili manje loš od većine navedenih, ali svejedno jedan od onih generičnih hororčića, osuđen da brzo potone u zaborav. McGuire je snimio film prema svom kratkometražnom hororu iz 2014. i od njega stvorio cjelovečernjak.

Nije "Night Swim" prvi takav slučaj. Dosta je poznatih horora "produženo" iz kratkih filmova na dugi metar, primjerice "Zla smrt ", "Slagalica strave ", "Mama ", "Ogledalo smrti ", "Babadook", "Igra strave ", "Smiješak ", "Piggy ", "Terrifier "... Čak je i Wan producirao jedan film koji je prošao sličnu genezu ("Kad se svjetla ugase ").
Međutim, ovdje očito nije bilo štofa za tako nešto, odnosno da se premisa "Žena pliva u svom bazenu noću, ali nešto je promatra" rastegne na devedesetak minuta. Nakon uvodnog prologa iz 1992. godine, koji traje otprilike koliko i izvorni, četverominutni kratki film, a u njemu će ukleti bazen progutati djevojčicu, upoznajemo obitelj Waller.
Obitelj se useljava u kuću s bazenom iz prve scene, Ray (Wyatt Russell , sin legendarnog Kurta ), njegova supruga Eve (friška oskarovska nominentica Kerry Condon ; "Duhovi otoka "), njihova kćerka tinejdžerka Izzy (Amelie Hoeferle iz novih "Igara gladi "; izgleda kao mlađa sestra Abbie Cornish ) i sin Elliot (Gavin Warren ).
Ray je igrač bejzbola koji se morao povući iz igre nakon što je otkrio da boluje od multiple skleroze, a liječnik mu je preporučio "vodenu terapiju", tako da mu bazen dolazi kao naručen. Isprve bazen pomaže njegovoj bolesti pa Ray hoda bez štapa i ponovno zamahuje bejzbolskom palicom. "Taj bazen je nešto najbolje što mi se dogodilo", govori Ray.

No, članovi njegove familije uviđaju da "nešto nije u redu s ovim bazenom", opažajući neku prikazu crne kose u dubini bazena ili pored njegova ruba dok plivaju. "Nešto je tamo i zgrabilo me", usklikne Izzy nakon što u bazenu zaigra igru "Marco Polo". Jasno, neće dugo vremena proći da se Ray pod utjecajem bazena počne ponašati kao Jack Torrance u "Isijavanju ".
Tehnika plašenja redatelja McGuirea svodi se na varijacije svega navedenog u zadnje tri rečenice i pojačanog snažnim "jump scare" momentima, što će reći da je već viđena i debelo klišeizirana, a nepotreban je i pokušaj pretjeranog objašnjavanja porijekla bazena beskrajnog zla (izgrađen na ukradenoj starosjedilačkoj zemlji itd.) umjesto da, za promjenu, ostane misteriozno.
S druge strane, McGuire pokazuje potencijal za detalje i kadriranja uključujući naopake rakurse, refleksije, podvodne kadrove i vodu kao element, poput kapljica kiše na vjetrobranskom staklu. Kamera je pozicionirana tako da istovremeno snima površinu bazena koju dodiruje i nešto zlo što potencijalno vreba ispod nje ili na "kopnu" kad se objektiv nalazi na određenoj dubini i preuzima iskrivljenu podvodnu perspektivu. Jednog dana McGuire bi mogao snimiti baš dobar horor film. "Night Swim" to nije.
