Selekcija britanskog filma "Supernova" za nominacije Europske filmske akademije/EFA-e posljednja je prilika da se ispravi nepravda u slučaju kvalitetne drame redatelja i scenarista Harryja Macqueena. Od premijere i festivalskih projekcija u ovo doba 2020. (London, Rim...) pa do svjetske distribucije koja se tijekom 2021. odvijala na kapaljku, "Supernova" nije osvojila nijednu značajniju nominaciju, ne računajući što je predložena za najbolji film na festivalu u San Sebastianu.

EFA, tako, može korigirati prijašnje propuste, uključujući i onaj američke Akademije. Naime, "Supernova" je trebala dobiti oskarovske nominacije barem za uloge Colina Firtha i Stanleyja Tuccija. Firth je zaslužio dobiti prednost ispred Garyja Oldmana ("Mank") ili Stevena Yeuna ("Minari") u kategoriji glavne muške uloge, dok se Tucci mogao natjecati za sporednu umjesto, recimo, Sache Barona Cohena ("The Trial Of The Chicago 7").

Kad neće američki Oscari, valjda će europski, a ako film ne mora nužno dobiti nominaciju, glumci bi morali za najbolje uloge karijere, nevjerojatno suptilne, nijansirane, nježne. Na stranu to što je dobio i američkog i europskog Oscara za "Kraljev govor", Firth je sada još impresivniji, a uvijek dobri Tucci nije nikad bio bolji.

Nominacije bi trebale doći u paru jer Firth i Tucci glume par i jedna uloga nije bila moguća bez druge. "Supernova" je dobar film s izvanrednim glumačkim ostvarenjima. Film glumaca. Naravno, bitna je i režija. Macqueen otvara "Supernovu" pamtljivim kadrovima zvjezdanog neba.

Nebo se postupno pali, a jedna zvijezda nakratko svijetli snažnije od drugih, ali ubrzo se ugasi. Zvijezda je metafora za čovjeka, stvorena i od zvjezdane prašine, koji se u idućem kadru pojavljuje polunag kao od majke rođen. To je Tusker (Tucci), profesionalni spisatelj i amaterski astronom koji s partnerom, pijanistom Samom (Firth), odlazi na kamperski "road trip" po Engleskoj.

Kadrovi prirode su predivni u leći kamere Dicka Popea ("Gospodin Turner", "Brooklyn bez majke"), s refleksijama brda i šuma na površini jezera na prijelazu jeseni u zimu, gustom ranojutarnjom maglom itd. No, kamera je sklonija likovima u prirodnom tumačenju glumaca i njihovom unutrašnjem svijetu.

Glumci savršeno dočaravaju ono unutarnje u protagonistima i prelijevaju dugogodišnji odnos partnera u kadar, njihovu zajedničku povijest. Znamo ih samo 90-ak minuta, koliko traje film, a čini se da ih poznajemo znatno duže, jednako kao i oni sebe. Tucci i Firth nisu Tucci i Firth, već Tusker i Sam.

Oni nestaju u likovima i formiraju njihov odnos kroz govor tijela i tišinu, ne samo razgovor, komunicirajući osjećaje putem pogleda i dodira bez izgovorene riječi koje ponekad djeluju kao djelo scenarista, tj. prepoznavajući što drugoga tišti bez da on to kaže.

U jednoj sceni, nakon što dezorijentirani Tusker odluta sa psom i Sam ga pronađe, kamera iz kampera snima njihov razgovor da ne čujemo što govore, već samo slutimo. A slutnja će se ubrzo pokazati točnom: Tusker se približava naprednom stadiju demencije i polako nestaje, baš poput zvijezde s početka filma, satkanog od zvjezdane prašine sjećanja.

O životnom ciklusu zvijezda, njihovom sjaju i gašenju, smrti, on će pričati Samovoj nećakinji (Nina Marlin), zapravo o samome sebi. Čovjeku koji se lagano gasi kao osoba i boji se da će mu demencija izbrisati osobnost i sjećanje, da neće prepoznati Sama i biti njemu prepoznatljiv, čega se jednako boji i njegov partner.

Nije "Supernova" drama o demenciji kao "Ljubav" ili "Otac", ali bojazan od bolesti i svega što ona nosi opipljiv je u kadru i film je emotivno razarajuć i tužan, samo što tiho proizvodi emocije. Najdelikatnija scena odvija se u kući kod Samove sestre Lilly (Pippa Haywood), gdje se okuplja njihovo društvo.

Budući da Tusker nije u stanju pročitati svoj govor za večerom, to umjesto njega radi Sam, čitajući misli i osjećaje partnera prema njemu samome i neutješnoj situaciji u kojoj se obojica nalaze. "Zaboravit ću onoga tko zaboravlja", rečenica je koja ne izlazi iz ušiju dugo nakon što bude izgovorena, a u očima ostaje Tuccijeva gluma, pokušaj da sakrije tugu i strah. Ova scena neće tako skoro izblijedjeti iz sjećanja, kao ni sam film.

Firth je bio dvaput nominiran za Oscara, za glavne uloge u "Samcu" i "The King's Speech", a Tucci samo jednom, za sporednu u "Ljupkim kostima".

Selekcija britanskog filma "Supernova" za nominacije Europske filmske akademije/EFA-e posljednja je prilika da se ispravi nepravda u slučaju kvalitetne drame redatelja i scenarista Harryja Macqueena. Od premijere i festivalskih projekcija u ovo doba 2020. (London, Rim...) pa do svjetske distribucije koja se tijekom 2021. odvijala na kapaljku, "Supernova" nije osvojila nijednu značajniju nominaciju, ne računajući što je predložena za najbolji film na festivalu u San Sebastianu.

EFA, tako, može korigirati prijašnje propuste, uključujući i onaj američke Akademije. Naime, "Supernova" je trebala dobiti oskarovske nominacije barem za uloge Colina Firtha i Stanleyja Tuccija. Firth je zaslužio dobiti prednost ispred Garyja Oldmana ("Mank") ili Stevena Yeuna ("Minari") u kategoriji glavne muške uloge, dok se Tucci mogao natjecati za sporednu umjesto, recimo, Sache Barona Cohena ("The Trial Of The Chicago 7").

Kad neće američki Oscari, valjda će europski, a ako film ne mora nužno dobiti nominaciju, glumci bi morali za najbolje uloge karijere, nevjerojatno suptilne, nijansirane, nježne. Na stranu to što je dobio i američkog i europskog Oscara za "Kraljev govor", Firth je sada još impresivniji, a uvijek dobri Tucci nije nikad bio bolji.

Nominacije bi trebale doći u paru jer Firth i Tucci glume par i jedna uloga nije bila moguća bez druge. "Supernova" je dobar film s izvanrednim glumačkim ostvarenjima. Film glumaca. Naravno, bitna je i režija. Macqueen otvara "Supernovu" pamtljivim kadrovima zvjezdanog neba.

Nebo se postupno pali, a jedna zvijezda nakratko svijetli snažnije od drugih, ali ubrzo se ugasi. Zvijezda je metafora za čovjeka, stvorena i od zvjezdane prašine, koji se u idućem kadru pojavljuje polunag kao od majke rođen. To je Tusker (Tucci), profesionalni spisatelj i amaterski astronom koji s partnerom, pijanistom Samom (Firth), odlazi na kamperski "road trip" po Engleskoj.

Kadrovi prirode su predivni u leći kamere Dicka Popea ("Gospodin Turner", "Brooklyn bez majke"), s refleksijama brda i šuma na površini jezera na prijelazu jeseni u zimu, gustom ranojutarnjom maglom itd. No, kamera je sklonija likovima u prirodnom tumačenju glumaca i njihovom unutrašnjem svijetu.

Glumci savršeno dočaravaju ono unutarnje u protagonistima i prelijevaju dugogodišnji odnos partnera u kadar, njihovu zajedničku povijest. Znamo ih samo 90-ak minuta, koliko traje film, a čini se da ih poznajemo znatno duže, jednako kao i oni sebe. Tucci i Firth nisu Tucci i Firth, već Tusker i Sam.

Oni nestaju u likovima i formiraju njihov odnos kroz govor tijela i tišinu, ne samo razgovor, komunicirajući osjećaje putem pogleda i dodira bez izgovorene riječi koje ponekad djeluju kao djelo scenarista, tj. prepoznavajući što drugoga tišti bez da on to kaže.

U jednoj sceni, nakon što dezorijentirani Tusker odluta sa psom i Sam ga pronađe, kamera iz kampera snima njihov razgovor da ne čujemo što govore, već samo slutimo. A slutnja će se ubrzo pokazati točnom: Tusker se približava naprednom stadiju demencije i polako nestaje, baš poput zvijezde s početka filma, satkanog od zvjezdane prašine sjećanja.

O životnom ciklusu zvijezda, njihovom sjaju i gašenju, smrti, on će pričati Samovoj nećakinji (Nina Marlin), zapravo o samome sebi. Čovjeku koji se lagano gasi kao osoba i boji se da će mu demencija izbrisati osobnost i sjećanje, da neće prepoznati Sama i biti njemu prepoznatljiv, čega se jednako boji i njegov partner.

Nije "Supernova" drama o demenciji kao "Ljubav" ili "Otac", ali bojazan od bolesti i svega što ona nosi opipljiv je u kadru i film je emotivno razarajuć i tužan, samo što tiho proizvodi emocije. Najdelikatnija scena odvija se u kući kod Samove sestre Lilly (Pippa Haywood), gdje se okuplja njihovo društvo.

Budući da Tusker nije u stanju pročitati svoj govor za večerom, to umjesto njega radi Sam, čitajući misli i osjećaje partnera prema njemu samome i neutješnoj situaciji u kojoj se obojica nalaze. "Zaboravit ću onoga tko zaboravlja", rečenica je koja ne izlazi iz ušiju dugo nakon što bude izgovorena, a u očima ostaje Tuccijeva gluma, pokušaj da sakrije tugu i strah. Ova scena neće tako skoro izblijedjeti iz sjećanja, kao ni sam film.

Firth je bio dvaput nominiran za Oscara, za glavne uloge u "Samcu" i "The King's Speech", a Tucci samo jednom, za sporednu u "Ljupkim kostima".
