Prosinački datum premijere sugerira da je Netflix računao s tim da će se film "Neoprostivo", ili "The Unforgivable", uklopiti u sezonu nagrada. Računica streaming servisa je na mjestu jer "Neoprostivo" na papiru posjeduje nagradni potencijal. U glavnoj ulozi nalazi se oskarovka i velika zvijezda Sandra Bullock ("Brzina", "Prisila na brak", "Specijalne agentice", "Oceanovih 8"), osvajačica zlatnog kipića za "Priču o prvaku", ujedno nominirana za "Gravitaciju".

Bullock je, uzgred, posljednji put viđena 2018. u najgledanijem Netflixovu hitu "Bird Box", koji je tek nedavno detronizirao "Red Notice". Sporedna uloga je pripala također oskarovki ("Ograde") i višestrukoj nominentici Violi Davis ("Sumnja", "Tajni život kućnih pomoćnica", "Ma Rainey: Majka bluesa"). Napokon, ovo je i prvi film na engleskom jeziku njemačke redateljice Nore Fingscheidt, dobitnice Srebrnog medvjeda za izvrsnu dramu "Razbijačica sistema", nominiranu za EU Oscara.

Međutim, ako ćemo suditi po Zlatnim globusima, ali i kvalitativnim dometima filma, "The Unforgivable" će se teško uključiti u sezonsku utrku za nagrade. Možda bi samo Bullock, u jednom od najboljih izdanja, mogla biti razmatrana za glumačku nominaciju.

Glumica je debelo iznad razočaravajućeg filma, u totalu previše osrednjeg, nerijetko i slabog, da bi bio kadar nametnuti se za išta više osim solidne gledanosti na streamingu, zahvaljujući zvjezdanom imenu, pa i osnovnom dramskom potencijalu. Doduše, "Neoprostivo" kreće obećavajuće kao post-zatvorska, iskupnička drama na temu rehabilitacije kažnjenika, oprosta i (po)kajanja s Bullockicom u deglamuriziranoj, "against type" ulozi, režirana na pola puta između oskarovskog i nezavisnog/festivalskog ostvarenja.

Ona je Ruth Slater, odslužila je 20-godišnju zatvorsku kaznu za ubojstvo policajca i upravo izlazi na slobodu. Flešbekovi su uposleni da natuknu (misteriozne) okolnosti kako je Ruth završila iza rešetaka, nakon stradavanja policajca (W. Earl Brown) tijekom deložacije nje i njezine znatno mlađe sestrice Katie iz obiteljske kuće.

Ruth izlazi iz zatvora s mišlju da pronađe Katie (igra je irska glumica u usponu Aisling Franciosi; "Slavuj", "Dom") koja živi s posvojiteljima (Richard Thomas, Linda Emond), s time da se možda ni ne sjeća starije sestre, posebice poslije onakve traume. Temelji su postavljeni za potentnu dramu o pojedincu i sustavu, psihološkim ožiljcima, prilagođavanju svakodnevici, novom životu i ponovnom ulasku u društvo za koje vrijedi ona "jednom kriminalac, uvijek kriminalac".

Tu je vidljivo što je režiserku Fingscheidt privuklo ovom filmu nakon "The System Crasher", a i Bullockicu ulozi mučenice i izgnanice podvrgnute verbalnom i fizičkom maltretiranju zbog etikete "cop-killing bitch". "Sustav može biti okrutan", odvjetnik John Ingram (Vincent D'Onofrio) kaže Ruth, a društvo je još okrutnije. Službenik za nadzor uvjetnog otpusta Vincent Cross (Rob Morgan) reći će Ruth da je ona ubojica policajca kamo god da pođe i čim prije to prihvati – bolje.

Shvaća to i Ruth, kao i to da su ljudi isti ovdje kao i u zatvorskom dvorištu, ali pitanje je želi li ona biti ista, kako opaža Cross. Sve to nudilo je dovoljno materijala za zadovoljavajući uradak, no problemi nastaju kad "The Unforgivable" počne isuviše očijukati s pravnom dramom (manje) i osvetničkim/otmičarskim krimi trilerom (više), tj. nalikovati na rutinski TV film.

Ingram pokušava pomoći bivšoj zatvorenici da pronađe sestru, na neodobravanje njegove tamnopute žene (Davis), koja doznaje da oni žive u kući umorstva policajca, gdje je nekoć živjela Ruth, te smatra da njihovi sinovi-crnci ne bi dobili drugu priliku u sličnoj situaciji.

Otprilike istovremeno, sinovi pokojnog policajca (Tom Guiry, Will Pullen) kuju planove da unište Ruthin život, što će kulminirati otmicom u trilerskoj završnici. "Neoprostivo" je imalo potencijala biti dobra drama, ali film inspiriran britanskom mini-serijom "Unforgiven" dramski je pretrpan za svoje dobro.

Štoviše, čini se kao da gledamo tri filma zbijena u jedan, a inače talentirana redateljica ih, nažalost, nije uspjela izbalansirati na način da se prirodno nadopunjuju i funkcioniraju kao cjelina, ako ne i zasebno. Prvi, centralni "film" je najbolji, drugi odvjetnički slabiji, treći trilerski najslabiji. Posljednja trećina filma odstupa od središnje drame i remeti zasluženu katarzu protagonistice. Neoprostivo.

"The Unforgivable" je u jednoj fazi razvoja trebao režirati Christopher McQuarrie ("Jack Reacher", "Nemoguća misija: Odmetnuti", "Nemoguća misija: Raspad sistema"), Oscarom nagrađeni scenarist "Privedite osumnjičene", i to s Angelinom Jolie u glavnoj ulozi.

Prosinački datum premijere sugerira da je Netflix računao s tim da će se film "Neoprostivo", ili "The Unforgivable", uklopiti u sezonu nagrada. Računica streaming servisa je na mjestu jer "Neoprostivo" na papiru posjeduje nagradni potencijal. U glavnoj ulozi nalazi se oskarovka i velika zvijezda Sandra Bullock ("Brzina", "Prisila na brak", "Specijalne agentice", "Oceanovih 8"), osvajačica zlatnog kipića za "Priču o prvaku", ujedno nominirana za "Gravitaciju".

Bullock je, uzgred, posljednji put viđena 2018. u najgledanijem Netflixovu hitu "Bird Box", koji je tek nedavno detronizirao "Red Notice". Sporedna uloga je pripala također oskarovki ("Ograde") i višestrukoj nominentici Violi Davis ("Sumnja", "Tajni život kućnih pomoćnica", "Ma Rainey: Majka bluesa"). Napokon, ovo je i prvi film na engleskom jeziku njemačke redateljice Nore Fingscheidt, dobitnice Srebrnog medvjeda za izvrsnu dramu "Razbijačica sistema", nominiranu za EU Oscara.

Međutim, ako ćemo suditi po Zlatnim globusima, ali i kvalitativnim dometima filma, "The Unforgivable" će se teško uključiti u sezonsku utrku za nagrade. Možda bi samo Bullock, u jednom od najboljih izdanja, mogla biti razmatrana za glumačku nominaciju.

Glumica je debelo iznad razočaravajućeg filma, u totalu previše osrednjeg, nerijetko i slabog, da bi bio kadar nametnuti se za išta više osim solidne gledanosti na streamingu, zahvaljujući zvjezdanom imenu, pa i osnovnom dramskom potencijalu. Doduše, "Neoprostivo" kreće obećavajuće kao post-zatvorska, iskupnička drama na temu rehabilitacije kažnjenika, oprosta i (po)kajanja s Bullockicom u deglamuriziranoj, "against type" ulozi, režirana na pola puta između oskarovskog i nezavisnog/festivalskog ostvarenja.

Ona je Ruth Slater, odslužila je 20-godišnju zatvorsku kaznu za ubojstvo policajca i upravo izlazi na slobodu. Flešbekovi su uposleni da natuknu (misteriozne) okolnosti kako je Ruth završila iza rešetaka, nakon stradavanja policajca (W. Earl Brown) tijekom deložacije nje i njezine znatno mlađe sestrice Katie iz obiteljske kuće.

Ruth izlazi iz zatvora s mišlju da pronađe Katie (igra je irska glumica u usponu Aisling Franciosi; "Slavuj", "Dom") koja živi s posvojiteljima (Richard Thomas, Linda Emond), s time da se možda ni ne sjeća starije sestre, posebice poslije onakve traume. Temelji su postavljeni za potentnu dramu o pojedincu i sustavu, psihološkim ožiljcima, prilagođavanju svakodnevici, novom životu i ponovnom ulasku u društvo za koje vrijedi ona "jednom kriminalac, uvijek kriminalac".

Tu je vidljivo što je režiserku Fingscheidt privuklo ovom filmu nakon "The System Crasher", a i Bullockicu ulozi mučenice i izgnanice podvrgnute verbalnom i fizičkom maltretiranju zbog etikete "cop-killing bitch". "Sustav može biti okrutan", odvjetnik John Ingram (Vincent D'Onofrio) kaže Ruth, a društvo je još okrutnije. Službenik za nadzor uvjetnog otpusta Vincent Cross (Rob Morgan) reći će Ruth da je ona ubojica policajca kamo god da pođe i čim prije to prihvati – bolje.

Shvaća to i Ruth, kao i to da su ljudi isti ovdje kao i u zatvorskom dvorištu, ali pitanje je želi li ona biti ista, kako opaža Cross. Sve to nudilo je dovoljno materijala za zadovoljavajući uradak, no problemi nastaju kad "The Unforgivable" počne isuviše očijukati s pravnom dramom (manje) i osvetničkim/otmičarskim krimi trilerom (više), tj. nalikovati na rutinski TV film.

Ingram pokušava pomoći bivšoj zatvorenici da pronađe sestru, na neodobravanje njegove tamnopute žene (Davis), koja doznaje da oni žive u kući umorstva policajca, gdje je nekoć živjela Ruth, te smatra da njihovi sinovi-crnci ne bi dobili drugu priliku u sličnoj situaciji.

Otprilike istovremeno, sinovi pokojnog policajca (Tom Guiry, Will Pullen) kuju planove da unište Ruthin život, što će kulminirati otmicom u trilerskoj završnici. "Neoprostivo" je imalo potencijala biti dobra drama, ali film inspiriran britanskom mini-serijom "Unforgiven" dramski je pretrpan za svoje dobro.

Štoviše, čini se kao da gledamo tri filma zbijena u jedan, a inače talentirana redateljica ih, nažalost, nije uspjela izbalansirati na način da se prirodno nadopunjuju i funkcioniraju kao cjelina, ako ne i zasebno. Prvi, centralni "film" je najbolji, drugi odvjetnički slabiji, treći trilerski najslabiji. Posljednja trećina filma odstupa od središnje drame i remeti zasluženu katarzu protagonistice. Neoprostivo.

Zamalo Angelina u glavnoj ulozi

"The Unforgivable" je u jednoj fazi razvoja trebao režirati Christopher McQuarrie ("Jack Reacher", "Nemoguća misija: Odmetnuti", "Nemoguća misija: Raspad sistema"), Oscarom nagrađeni scenarist "Privedite osumnjičene", i to s Angelinom Jolie u glavnoj ulozi.
