Kandidatura Idrisa Elbe za potencijalnu ulogu Jamesa Bonda je prema svemu sudeći završena. No, tko želi još jednom vidjeti kakav bi Elba bio kao tajni agent 007, može pogledati Netflixov film “Luther: Palo sunce” (“Luther: Fallen Sun”). Uloga odmetnutog londonskog policijskog detektiva Johna Luthera dosadašnji je Elbin zaštitni znak.

Sjetimo se, Elba je glumio Luthera u pet sezona istoimene BBC-jeve kriminalističko-dramske serije koja se, s kratkim pauzama, emitirala tijekom čitave jedne dekade, od 2010. do 2019. godine, uglavnom zadržavajući ujednačenu kvalitetu. Luther je razotkrio Elbin potencijal za ulogu Bonda koji je on pumpao junačeći se u akcijskom trileru “Crni dan u Parizu” i “Kuli tmine”.

Otkako je “Luther” završio na televiziji početkom 2019., Elba je imao podjednak broj akcijskih nastupa (“Brzi i žestoki: Hobbs i Shaw”, “Odred otpisanih: Nova misija”, “Tko nisko pada”, “Zvijer”) u odnosu na one neakcijske (“Velika igra”, “Planina između nas”, “Gradski kauboj”, “Tri tisuće godina čežnje”), kao da je želio biti u formi za agenta 007 ukoliko dobije ulogu. Filmski nastavak serije “Luther” naizgled djeluje kao Elbin posljednji juriš na 007 i zadnji poziv producentima Bond-filmova, odnosno poruka što propuštaju, a njegovim fanovima daje priliku da ga zamisle u liku kao nikad prije.

Nije ovo prvi put da se serija nastavila kao film jer su filmske nastavke dobili i “Entourage”, “Breaking Bad” i “Deadwood”, ali “Luther” je u tom procesu promijenio žanr i od kriminalističke drame postao akcijski “serial killer” triler s bondovskim negativcem, budžetom i lokacijama.

Negativac je bogati trgovac, megalomanijak David Robey (Andy Serkis), koji ima skrovište u Norveškoj i terorizira London orkestrirajući serijska ubojstva kakvih se ne bi postidio ni sadistički Jigsaw iz serijala “Slagalica strave”, tipa da osmero otetih i obješenih nesretnika planu točno u trenutku kad njihovi roditelji stupe u prostoriju gdje oni zatočeni vise.

Robeyja upoznajemo odmah na početku kad govori da je Luther “analogna pokvarena jabuka”, kao da opisuje Johna McClanea u “Umri muški 4.0”, te odlučuje razotkriti svaku njegovu “prljavu tajnu, intimnu sramotu”, tj. želi da bude osramoćen. “Želim njegovu propast”, govori Robey i Luther završava u zatvoru.

Tamo će sudjelovati u pobuni natopljenoj kerozinom i podsjetiti na relativno slične scene u filmu “Hobbs i Shaw” u kojima su sudjelovali Jason Statham i Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a kad uspije pobjeći njegov je cilj zaustaviti Robeyja. Uz natruhe skandinavskog trilera, namudrivanje Luthera i serijskog ubojice uglavnom je akcijskog karaktera.

Otprilike, po uzoru na ono što su radili Clint Eastwood, Sylvester Stallone i Bruce Willis u “Prljavom Harryju”, “Kobri” i “Smrtonosnoj zoni” ili Čovjek-šišmiš u posljednjem filmu iz serijala “The Batman” gdje je Serkis glumio batlera Alfreda.

Ima nešto “batmanovsko” u “Lutheru”, od mračnog Londona kao Gothama, preko Elbe kako nadgleda grad s krovova, do Serkisa koji portretira Robeyja kao da je njegov Alfred pogledao par “Bondova” previše i postao negativac. Ipak, “Luther” je još više “bondovski”, a filmski budžet osigurao je da akcija bude solidno uzbudljiva, od gužve na Piccadillyju i potjere u podzemnoj do jurnjave na ledu na tragu “Umri drugi dan”.

Do odjavne špice Elba se nanovo akcijski iskazao pa nije čudno da je na kraju filma dobio “poslovnu ponudu”. Za novog “Bonda”? Teško, prije za nastavak “Luthera”. Elba očito neće postati Bond, ali možda i ne treba. On svog Bonda već ima i zove se Luther. John Luther.

Kandidatura Idrisa Elbe za potencijalnu ulogu Jamesa Bonda je prema svemu sudeći završena. No, tko želi još jednom vidjeti kakav bi Elba bio kao tajni agent 007, može pogledati Netflixov film “Luther: Palo sunce” (“Luther: Fallen Sun”). Uloga odmetnutog londonskog policijskog detektiva Johna Luthera dosadašnji je Elbin zaštitni znak.

Sjetimo se, Elba je glumio Luthera u pet sezona istoimene BBC-jeve kriminalističko-dramske serije koja se, s kratkim pauzama, emitirala tijekom čitave jedne dekade, od 2010. do 2019. godine, uglavnom zadržavajući ujednačenu kvalitetu. Luther je razotkrio Elbin potencijal za ulogu Bonda koji je on pumpao junačeći se u akcijskom trileru “Crni dan u Parizu” i “Kuli tmine”.

Otkako je “Luther” završio na televiziji početkom 2019., Elba je imao podjednak broj akcijskih nastupa (“Brzi i žestoki: Hobbs i Shaw”, “Odred otpisanih: Nova misija”, “Tko nisko pada”, “Zvijer”) u odnosu na one neakcijske (“Velika igra”, “Planina između nas”, “Gradski kauboj”, “Tri tisuće godina čežnje”), kao da je želio biti u formi za agenta 007 ukoliko dobije ulogu. Filmski nastavak serije “Luther” naizgled djeluje kao Elbin posljednji juriš na 007 i zadnji poziv producentima Bond-filmova, odnosno poruka što propuštaju, a njegovim fanovima daje priliku da ga zamisle u liku kao nikad prije.

Nije ovo prvi put da se serija nastavila kao film jer su filmske nastavke dobili i “Entourage”, “Breaking Bad” i “Deadwood”, ali “Luther” je u tom procesu promijenio žanr i od kriminalističke drame postao akcijski “serial killer” triler s bondovskim negativcem, budžetom i lokacijama.

Negativac je bogati trgovac, megalomanijak David Robey (Andy Serkis), koji ima skrovište u Norveškoj i terorizira London orkestrirajući serijska ubojstva kakvih se ne bi postidio ni sadistički Jigsaw iz serijala “Slagalica strave”, tipa da osmero otetih i obješenih nesretnika planu točno u trenutku kad njihovi roditelji stupe u prostoriju gdje oni zatočeni vise.

Robeyja upoznajemo odmah na početku kad govori da je Luther “analogna pokvarena jabuka”, kao da opisuje Johna McClanea u “Umri muški 4.0”, te odlučuje razotkriti svaku njegovu “prljavu tajnu, intimnu sramotu”, tj. želi da bude osramoćen. “Želim njegovu propast”, govori Robey i Luther završava u zatvoru.

Tamo će sudjelovati u pobuni natopljenoj kerozinom i podsjetiti na relativno slične scene u filmu “Hobbs i Shaw” u kojima su sudjelovali Jason Statham i Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, a kad uspije pobjeći njegov je cilj zaustaviti Robeyja. Uz natruhe skandinavskog trilera, namudrivanje Luthera i serijskog ubojice uglavnom je akcijskog karaktera.

Otprilike, po uzoru na ono što su radili Clint Eastwood, Sylvester Stallone i Bruce Willis u “Prljavom Harryju”, “Kobri” i “Smrtonosnoj zoni” ili Čovjek-šišmiš u posljednjem filmu iz serijala “The Batman” gdje je Serkis glumio batlera Alfreda.

Ima nešto “batmanovsko” u “Lutheru”, od mračnog Londona kao Gothama, preko Elbe kako nadgleda grad s krovova, do Serkisa koji portretira Robeyja kao da je njegov Alfred pogledao par “Bondova” previše i postao negativac. Ipak, “Luther” je još više “bondovski”, a filmski budžet osigurao je da akcija bude solidno uzbudljiva, od gužve na Piccadillyju i potjere u podzemnoj do jurnjave na ledu na tragu “Umri drugi dan”.

Do odjavne špice Elba se nanovo akcijski iskazao pa nije čudno da je na kraju filma dobio “poslovnu ponudu”. Za novog “Bonda”? Teško, prije za nastavak “Luthera”. Elba očito neće postati Bond, ali možda i ne treba. On svog Bonda već ima i zove se Luther. John Luther.
