"Prije ću oporučno ostaviti scenarij Edu Woodu." – "Hollywoodska prevara" (2020.)

"Čujem da si ubila više ljudi od Quentina Tarantina", rekao je diler Ruby Rose u prošlotjednoj "Najdužoj noći", što je bio "hommage" slavnom filmašu i "tarantinovskom" tipu akcića-krimića od strane redatelja i scenarista Georgea Galla. Tjedan dana kasnije, novi Gallov film počinje igrati u hrvatskim kinima i također se loži na Tarantina – "Hollywoodska prevara" ili "The Comeback Trail".

Posrijedi je remake istoimene komedije Harryja Hurwitza iz 1982., nadahute "Producentima" Mela Brooksa, ali Gallo se jednako ili čak više ugleda na Tarantinove ("Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu") i "tarantinovske" metafilmove ("Uhvatite maloga").

Zvijezde meta-film(ofil)ske komedije su hollywoodski "B" producent i muljator Max Barber koji zajedno s nećakom Walterom Creasonom vodi kompaniju Miracle Motion Pictures (Robert De Niro, Zach Braff), ostarjela i propala akcijska zvijezda vestern filmova Duke Montana (Tommy Lee Jones) te gangster-investitor Reggie Fontaine (Morgan Freeman).

Max i Walter predstavljeni su na premijeri novog niskobudžetnog eksploatacijskog filma Miracle Motion Picturesa naslovljenog "Killer Nuns" protiv kojeg prosvjeduju svećenici, a kritičari se takmiče tko će ga više sasjeći u recezijama ujedinjenim u mišljenju da je "loš".

"Jedino dobro je što je gotov za 90 minuta", čujemo u "Hollywoodskoj prevari", filmu koji i sam ima sličnu minutažu pa se kritika može pročitati kao dobrodošlo autoreferencijalna. Gallo je ovaj put samosvjesniji, ponizniji i skromnijih apetita prilikom ordiniranja na nešto drukčijem Taratinovom terenu u odnosu na "Vanquish".

Razlika između njega i Tarantina je evidentna kad se na kraju filma zavrti "fake trailer" za "Killer Nuns", koji u rekreaciji "grindhouse" estetike nije na razini lažnih foršpana prikazanih ispred "Death Proof" i "Planet Terror" ("Machete" itd.), posebice ako postavimo "The Comeback Trail" pored "Once Upon a Time In... Hollywood".

No, Gallo se ovdje ne pokušava razmetati "tarantinovštinom", već je nastoji simpatično "homažirati" nalazeći se i na satiričnom i farsičnom metafilmskom tragu krimi komedije "Get Shorty" dok "insajderski" zaviruje iza kulisa snimanja jednog hollywoodskog filma (su)financirana mafijaškim novcem i razotkriva filmsku industriju, tj. odnose producenata, glumaca i redatelja.

"Hollywoodska prevara" nije britka kao "Uhvatite maloga", kamoli "Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu", ali u usporedbi s očajnom "Najdužom noći" je gotovo pa Tarantinov film. "The Comeback Trail", za razliku od "Vanquish", ne djeluje jeftino i ima dobru, čistu fotografiju nalik vesternu, kao i znatno živahnijeg Freemana u ulozi gangstera željna povrata svog novca uloženog u Maxove produkcije, konkretno 350 tisuća dolara.

Kako bi mu vratio pare, Max se dosjetio ideje inspirirane sličnim "zvijezda pada" slučajem koji je doživio mladi producent (Emile Hirsch), preuzete iz originalnog filma. Za idući projekt, "siguran hit", on će angažirati "potrošenog", suicidu sklonog i "comebacku" nesklonog Dukea te dati sve od sebe da ovaj izgubi život na snimanju akcijskih scena kako bi dobio odštetu na račun njegove kao fol nesretne tragične pogibije.

Komedija, dakako, nastaje iz gegova na tu temu, odnosno neuspješnih pokušaja inscenacije stradavanja "stare propalice" Dukea, tipa da preživi pad s konja i drvenog mosta. "Ovaj čovjek je neuništiv", rekli bi Dukeu u "Ko to tamo pjeva", a sad mu kažu kako ima "devet života".

Jones je na visini zadatka i pronašao se u liku vremešnog kauboja i glumačkog veterana na zalazu karijere koji će nenamjerno doživjeti "comeback". Raspoloženi De Niro već je glumio s Freemanom (komedija "Legende u Vegasu"), ali nikad s Jonesom i trojica starih oskarovaca fino funkcioniraju zajedno i spremni su za "comeback", osiguravajući publici barem prigušeni "feel good" smješak, ako ne i glasni osmjeh.

Svakako, "Hollywoodska prevara" ima bolji kinotajming od "Najduže noći" koji je neminovno kumovao percepciji filma. Dok Gallov akcijski triler u kinima neuspješno konkurira žanrovski superiornom "Nobody", njegova komedija s lakoćom nadilazi niske domete (tragi)komične konkurencije od početka godine na velikom ("Superinteligencija", "Fantastični Krokodil Dundee") ili malom ekranu ("Coming 2 America", "Thunder Force") i staje uz bok "Barb i Star". Govori li to više o filmu ili tragikomičnoj godini, zaključite sami.

"Prije ću oporučno ostaviti scenarij Edu Woodu." – "Hollywoodska prevara" (2020.)

"Čujem da si ubila više ljudi od Quentina Tarantina", rekao je diler Ruby Rose u prošlotjednoj "Najdužoj noći", što je bio "hommage" slavnom filmašu i "tarantinovskom" tipu akcića-krimića od strane redatelja i scenarista Georgea Galla. Tjedan dana kasnije, novi Gallov film počinje igrati u hrvatskim kinima i također se loži na Tarantina – "Hollywoodska prevara" ili "The Comeback Trail".

Posrijedi je remake istoimene komedije Harryja Hurwitza iz 1982., nadahute "Producentima" Mela Brooksa, ali Gallo se jednako ili čak više ugleda na Tarantinove ("Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu") i "tarantinovske" metafilmove ("Uhvatite maloga").

Zvijezde meta-film(ofil)ske komedije su hollywoodski "B" producent i muljator Max Barber koji zajedno s nećakom Walterom Creasonom vodi kompaniju Miracle Motion Pictures (Robert De Niro, Zach Braff), ostarjela i propala akcijska zvijezda vestern filmova Duke Montana (Tommy Lee Jones) te gangster-investitor Reggie Fontaine (Morgan Freeman).

Max i Walter predstavljeni su na premijeri novog niskobudžetnog eksploatacijskog filma Miracle Motion Picturesa naslovljenog "Killer Nuns" protiv kojeg prosvjeduju svećenici, a kritičari se takmiče tko će ga više sasjeći u recezijama ujedinjenim u mišljenju da je "loš".

"Jedino dobro je što je gotov za 90 minuta", čujemo u "Hollywoodskoj prevari", filmu koji i sam ima sličnu minutažu pa se kritika može pročitati kao dobrodošlo autoreferencijalna. Gallo je ovaj put samosvjesniji, ponizniji i skromnijih apetita prilikom ordiniranja na nešto drukčijem Taratinovom terenu u odnosu na "Vanquish".

Razlika između njega i Tarantina je evidentna kad se na kraju filma zavrti "fake trailer" za "Killer Nuns", koji u rekreaciji "grindhouse" estetike nije na razini lažnih foršpana prikazanih ispred "Death Proof" i "Planet Terror" ("Machete" itd.), posebice ako postavimo "The Comeback Trail" pored "Once Upon a Time In... Hollywood".

No, Gallo se ovdje ne pokušava razmetati "tarantinovštinom", već je nastoji simpatično "homažirati" nalazeći se i na satiričnom i farsičnom metafilmskom tragu krimi komedije "Get Shorty" dok "insajderski" zaviruje iza kulisa snimanja jednog hollywoodskog filma (su)financirana mafijaškim novcem i razotkriva filmsku industriju, tj. odnose producenata, glumaca i redatelja.

"Hollywoodska prevara" nije britka kao "Uhvatite maloga", kamoli "Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu", ali u usporedbi s očajnom "Najdužom noći" je gotovo pa Tarantinov film. "The Comeback Trail", za razliku od "Vanquish", ne djeluje jeftino i ima dobru, čistu fotografiju nalik vesternu, kao i znatno živahnijeg Freemana u ulozi gangstera željna povrata svog novca uloženog u Maxove produkcije, konkretno 350 tisuća dolara.

Kako bi mu vratio pare, Max se dosjetio ideje inspirirane sličnim "zvijezda pada" slučajem koji je doživio mladi producent (Emile Hirsch), preuzete iz originalnog filma. Za idući projekt, "siguran hit", on će angažirati "potrošenog", suicidu sklonog i "comebacku" nesklonog Dukea te dati sve od sebe da ovaj izgubi život na snimanju akcijskih scena kako bi dobio odštetu na račun njegove kao fol nesretne tragične pogibije.

Komedija, dakako, nastaje iz gegova na tu temu, odnosno neuspješnih pokušaja inscenacije stradavanja "stare propalice" Dukea, tipa da preživi pad s konja i drvenog mosta. "Ovaj čovjek je neuništiv", rekli bi Dukeu u "Ko to tamo pjeva", a sad mu kažu kako ima "devet života".

Jones je na visini zadatka i pronašao se u liku vremešnog kauboja i glumačkog veterana na zalazu karijere koji će nenamjerno doživjeti "comeback". Raspoloženi De Niro već je glumio s Freemanom (komedija "Legende u Vegasu"), ali nikad s Jonesom i trojica starih oskarovaca fino funkcioniraju zajedno i spremni su za "comeback", osiguravajući publici barem prigušeni "feel good" smješak, ako ne i glasni osmjeh.

Svakako, "Hollywoodska prevara" ima bolji kinotajming od "Najduže noći" koji je neminovno kumovao percepciji filma. Dok Gallov akcijski triler u kinima neuspješno konkurira žanrovski superiornom "Nobody", njegova komedija s lakoćom nadilazi niske domete (tragi)komične konkurencije od početka godine na velikom ("Superinteligencija", "Fantastični Krokodil Dundee") ili malom ekranu ("Coming 2 America", "Thunder Force") i staje uz bok "Barb i Star". Govori li to više o filmu ili tragikomičnoj godini, zaključite sami.
