Igrano-filmski dijelovi snimljeni su u formi povijesnog spektakla po uzoru na "Alexander" Olivera Stonea, kronicirajući povijesne i dvorske bitke Aleksandra Makedonskog, dok povjesničari svemu daju kontekst i osvrću se na lik i djelo velikog, ali i nepredvidljivog vojskovođe koji je imao karizmu da ga ljudi slijede. Jedan od najvećih talijanskih (i ne samo talijanskih) redatelja u povijesti kinematografije dobio je dokumentarac koji je obvezno štivo za njegove fanove, ali i ljubitelje filma i režije. O Sergiju Leoneu i njegovom redateljskom značaju govore filmaši poput Quentina Tarantina i Martina Scorsesea, kao i glumci koji su igrali u njegovim filmovima (Clint Eastwood, Robert De Niro, Jennifer Connelly).
Dokumentarac pruža uvid u snimanje Leoneovih legendarnih špageti vesterna, od "Za šaku dolara" nadalje, ali i "Bilo jednom u Americi", otkrivajući u tom procesu da je film za njega bio "jedna velika predstava" bez koje on nije mogao zamisliti život.

Poznatiji je njegov prezimenjak Mel. No, nakon ovog dokumentarca stvari se možda promijene. Prateći Brooksov uspon od "stand up" početaka do filmova i serija dok s njim razgovor vodi Rob Reiner, "U obranu mog života" podsjeća na to koliko je veliku ulogu on odigrao u svijetu američke komedije kao prvi alternativni komičar i o kakvom se genijalcu radi. Na koncu, Brooksovo pravo ime je Albert Lawrence Einstein.

Originalni "Matrix" uskoro slavi 25. godišnjicu, baš krajem ožujka 2024., stoga je prava prilika da se uz ovaj dokumentarac podsjetite popkulturnog fenomena koji je 1999. izazvao revolucionarni SF akcijski film s popularnim Keanuom Reevesom u glavnoj ulozi. "Matrix" je obilježio cijelu (novo)milenijsku generaciju i iznjedrio serijal od još tri nastavka ("Reloaded", "Revolutions", "Resurrections"), pa i izazvao brojne debate na temu živimo li u simulaciji kao u filmu.
Svega toga dotiče se "Matrix Generation", ali i osvrće se na filmom izazvane političke teorije zavjere, od 11. rujna 2001. do napada na Kapitol 2021. godine. Prilično intrigantno štivo.

Legendarna baka rocka Tina Turner napustila nas je prošle godine, no doživjela je da vidi dokumentarac naslovljen po njoj. "Tina" redateljskog dvojca Daniel Lindsay-TJ Martin fino komplementira film "Što ljubav ima s tim?" iz 1993. godine s Angelom Bassett u glavnoj ulozi, nominiranom za Oscara.
Za fanove ikoničke pjevačice doks je "must see" i slijedi je od ranih dana, podsjećajući na njezine početke, ali i vezu s Ikeom Turnerom, prepunu zlostavljanja s njegove strane. Dokumentarac otkriva da je njihov odnos bio kompleksan i pokazuje kako ga je ona uspjela zasjeniti svojim megazvjezdanim sjajem i izvojevati pobjedu.

---Činilo se da bi ovo mogla biti nova "Kleopatra", najlošija (dokumentarna) serija prošle godine, ali srećom "Aleksandar: Postanak boga" bolji je od nje. Netflixov projekt zanimljivo isprepleće igrano-filmske segmente s tumačenjima povjesničara.
Igrano-filmski dijelovi snimljeni su u formi povijesnog spektakla po uzoru na "Alexander" Olivera Stonea, kronicirajući povijesne i dvorske bitke Aleksandra Makedonskog, dok povjesničari svemu daju kontekst i osvrću se na lik i djelo velikog, ali i nepredvidljivog vojskovođe koji je imao karizmu da ga ljudi slijede. "S jedne strane plemeniti Aleksandar, s druge brutalni, nikad ne znate kojeg ćete upoznati".

Jedan od najvećih talijanskih (i ne samo talijanskih) redatelja u povijesti kinematografije dobio je dokumentarac koji je obvezno štivo za njegove fanove, ali i ljubitelje filma i režije. O Sergiju Leoneu i njegovom redateljskom značaju govore filmaši poput Quentina Tarantina i Martina Scorsesea, kao i glumci koji su igrali u njegovim filmovima (Clint Eastwood, Robert De Niro, Jennifer Connelly).
Dokumentarac pruža uvid u snimanje Leoneovih legendarnih špageti vesterna, od "Za šaku dolara" nadalje, ali i "Bilo jednom u Americi", otkrivajući u tom procesu da je film za njega bio "jedna velika predstava" bez koje on nije mogao zamisliti život.

Prosječnom gledatelju Albert Brooks nije toliko poznat, iako zasigurno prepoznaje njegovu facu iz "Taksista", "Vožnje" i serije "Bez oduševljenja, molim". Teško da će ga netko spomenuti među prvih pet ili deset kad se zapodjene priča o komičarima.
Poznatiji je njegov prezimenjak Mel. No, nakon ovog dokumentarca stvari se možda promijene. Prateći Brooksov uspon od "stand up" početaka do filmova i serija dok s njim razgovor vodi Rob Reiner, "U obranu mog života" podsjeća na to koliko je veliku ulogu on odigrao u svijetu američke komedije kao prvi alternativni komičar i o kakvom se genijalcu radi. Na koncu, Brooksovo pravo ime je Albert Lawrence Einstein.

Originalni "Matrix" uskoro slavi 25. godišnjicu, baš krajem ožujka 2024., stoga je prava prilika da se uz ovaj dokumentarac podsjetite popkulturnog fenomena koji je 1999. izazvao revolucionarni SF akcijski film s popularnim Keanuom Reevesom u glavnoj ulozi. "Matrix" je obilježio cijelu (novo)milenijsku generaciju i iznjedrio serijal od još tri nastavka ("Reloaded", "Revolutions", "Resurrections"), pa i izazvao brojne debate na temu živimo li u simulaciji kao u filmu.
Svega toga dotiče se "Matrix Generation", ali i osvrće se na filmom izazvane političke teorije zavjere, od 11. rujna 2001. do napada na Kapitol 2021. godine. Prilično intrigantno štivo.

Legendarna baka rocka Tina Turner napustila nas je prošle godine, no doživjela je da vidi dokumentarac naslovljen po njoj. "Tina" redateljskog dvojca Daniel Lindsay-TJ Martin fino komplementira film "Što ljubav ima s tim?" iz 1993. godine s Angelom Bassett u glavnoj ulozi, nominiranom za Oscara.
Za fanove ikoničke pjevačice doks je "must see" i slijedi je od ranih dana, podsjećajući na njezine početke, ali i vezu s Ikeom Turnerom, prepunu zlostavljanja s njegove strane. Dokumentarac otkriva da je njihov odnos bio kompleksan i pokazuje kako ga je ona uspjela zasjeniti svojim megazvjezdanim sjajem i izvojevati pobjedu.
