Signalna raketa baca purpurno svjetlo nad površinom nemirnog mora, a kamera u izvrnutom rakursu hvata njezin sjaj. To je prvi nezaboravni kadar nove ekranizacije epohalnog romana iz 1929. "Berlin Alexanderplatz" Alfreda Döblina, najpoznatijeg po Fassbinderovoj adaptaciji.

Kadar prelama cijeli film, vodeći naslov s ovogodišnje revije "Berlinale Special", sastavljene od filmova koji su premijeru imali zimus na festivalu u Berlinu. U moru se nalazi afrički imgrant Francis (Welket Bungué) koji je izbjegao sigurno utapanje i smrt. Francis je, čini se, jedini preživjeli iz pomorske kalvarije.

Ponovno rođena čovjeka more je izbacilo "na obalu novog života". Obasjano bojama bengalke, more izgleda kao golema maternica, osobito kad se režiser Burhan Qurbani kasnije "flashbackovski" vrati uvodnoj sceni, negdje u drugoj polovici arhetipske priče o iskupljenju i nadanju, ispričane modernim filmskim jezikom i osuvremenjene da bude relevantna sada i ovdje.

Boje baklje su vizualni lajtmotiv klupskim neonima okupana filma – "jedva čovječan, poluživ, polumrtav" Francis prolazi ciklički i simbolički put od novog života do smrti i ponovnog rađanja, od uspona do padova i uzdizanja, kao feniks iz pepela.

Afganistanski redatelj s njemačkom adresom hrabro je uskočio u Fassbinderove cipele i snimio epsku odiseju jednog stranca na ulicama današnjeg Berlina, barokno režiranu i još baroknije estetiziranu (krimi) dramu, spoj najboljeg od dvaju svjetova – europske festivalske i američke nezavisne kinematografije.

Trosatni film je karakterno, dramski i kriminalistički grandiozan u ravni "Adelina života", "Sudbino, ljubavi moja" i "Proroka", sinestezijski prenosi seks, droga i rave ugođaj Berlina, njegovih ulica i klubova poput "Victorije", a neonski je hiperstiliziran kao "Spring Breakers" i "Waves".

Iako mu je tek 40 godina, Qurbani je već snimio film s kojim će se mjeriti svi ostali i vjerojatno će predstavljati njegov "magnum opus", kao što je to "La vie d'Adele" za Kechichea. "Berlin Alexanderplatz" je opasno blizu remek-djela, kandidat za vrhove ovogodišnje liste, epski film biblijskih proporcija o čovjeku koji želi biti dobar i pošten u lošem svijetu, ali život nije nužno htio da bude takav i stavlja ga na brojne kušnje, popločavajući njegov put trnjem i davajući mu nove unutarnje demone da ga progone.

Svijet je ovaj kojeg Njemačka živi, svijet moderne Europe suočene s valom imigranata poput Francisa i izbjegličkom krizom koju Qurbani koristi da progovori o identitetu i kulturi. Qurbani je preselio Döblinov roman iz weimarske Njemačke u sadašnjost i priču ispričao iz kurentnog društveno-političkog rakursa, ambijentiravši je u (polu)svijet izbjeglica-bauštelaca, dilera i kriminalaca.

Francisov vodič kroz taj svijet nedaleko pakla je Reinhold (izvrsni Albrecht Schuch), "faustovski" manipulator gotovo na tragu Keysera Sosea, uključujući i njegovu hinjenu hromost i šepanje, koji je protagonista namamio prilikom da mu se život ne svodi "samo na krevet i komad kruha s maslacom".

Ulična dinamika između njih dvojice znade podsjetiti na newyorški dvojac s dna društvene kace Ratso Rizzo-Joe Buck (Dustin Hoffman, Jon Voight) iz Schlesingerova "Ponoćnog kauboja" pa Reinhold u jednoj sceni citira film i kaže mitsku "I'm walking here".

No, "Berlin Alexanderplatz" je drukčija filmska zvijer od "Midnight Cowboy". Drama ovdje ulazi u uzbudljivi krimi-triler s pljačkama ispod fluorescentnih maski klauna koju će u jednom trenutku Francis držati u ruci kao Hamlet lubanju i dvojiti o postupcima, ali i iznalazi bajkovito dirljivu romansu kad o ozlijeđenom junaku počne skrbiti prostitutka zlatnog srca i naratorica Mietze (Jella Haase, otkriće).

Balans je perfektan u izvanredno ritmičnom ostvarenju neovisno o trosatnom trajanju, režijski i narativno razrađenom do tančina, bez ijedne scene viška i manjka, a s puno lijepih detalja. Svaki podžanr odlično funkcionira u široj žanrovskoj slici filma koji impresivno spaja arhetipsko, mitsko i poetsko sa zbiljskim. "Berlin Alexanderplatz" pronalazi poeziju realizma u sjaju neona i koreografiji dramskog "slow motiona".

Ukratko o Qurbaniju

Burhan Qurbani je debitirao 2009. filmom “Woman Interrupted”, za drugijenac “Shahada” (2010.) angažirao je Mariju Škaričić, a talent četiri godine kasnije potvrdio s “We Are Young. We Are Strong.”, da bi sada eksplodirao s "Berlin Alexanderplatz". Film se prikazuje (u Splitu/"Kinoteci", Zagrebu/"Tuškanac" i Rijeci/Art-kino "Croatia") kao dio trećeg "Berlinale Speciala" koji je nanovo organizirao Goethe-Institut Kroatien.

Signalna raketa baca purpurno svjetlo nad površinom nemirnog mora, a kamera u izvrnutom rakursu hvata njezin sjaj. To je prvi nezaboravni kadar nove ekranizacije epohalnog romana iz 1929. "Berlin Alexanderplatz" Alfreda Döblina, najpoznatijeg po Fassbinderovoj adaptaciji.

Kadar prelama cijeli film, vodeći naslov s ovogodišnje revije "Berlinale Special", sastavljene od filmova koji su premijeru imali zimus na festivalu u Berlinu. U moru se nalazi afrički imgrant Francis (Welket Bungué) koji je izbjegao sigurno utapanje i smrt. Francis je, čini se, jedini preživjeli iz pomorske kalvarije.

Ponovno rođena čovjeka more je izbacilo "na obalu novog života". Obasjano bojama bengalke, more izgleda kao golema maternica, osobito kad se režiser Burhan Qurbani kasnije "flashbackovski" vrati uvodnoj sceni, negdje u drugoj polovici arhetipske priče o iskupljenju i nadanju, ispričane modernim filmskim jezikom i osuvremenjene da bude relevantna sada i ovdje.

Boje baklje su vizualni lajtmotiv klupskim neonima okupana filma – "jedva čovječan, poluživ, polumrtav" Francis prolazi ciklički i simbolički put od novog života do smrti i ponovnog rađanja, od uspona do padova i uzdizanja, kao feniks iz pepela.

Afganistanski redatelj s njemačkom adresom hrabro je uskočio u Fassbinderove cipele i snimio epsku odiseju jednog stranca na ulicama današnjeg Berlina, barokno režiranu i još baroknije estetiziranu (krimi) dramu, spoj najboljeg od dvaju svjetova – europske festivalske i američke nezavisne kinematografije.

Trosatni film je karakterno, dramski i kriminalistički grandiozan u ravni "Adelina života", "Sudbino, ljubavi moja" i "Proroka", sinestezijski prenosi seks, droga i rave ugođaj Berlina, njegovih ulica i klubova poput "Victorije", a neonski je hiperstiliziran kao "Spring Breakers" i "Waves".

Iako mu je tek 40 godina, Qurbani je već snimio film s kojim će se mjeriti svi ostali i vjerojatno će predstavljati njegov "magnum opus", kao što je to "La vie d'Adele" za Kechichea. "Berlin Alexanderplatz" je opasno blizu remek-djela, kandidat za vrhove ovogodišnje liste, epski film biblijskih proporcija o čovjeku koji želi biti dobar i pošten u lošem svijetu, ali život nije nužno htio da bude takav i stavlja ga na brojne kušnje, popločavajući njegov put trnjem i davajući mu nove unutarnje demone da ga progone.

Svijet je ovaj kojeg Njemačka živi, svijet moderne Europe suočene s valom imigranata poput Francisa i izbjegličkom krizom koju Qurbani koristi da progovori o identitetu i kulturi. Qurbani je preselio Döblinov roman iz weimarske Njemačke u sadašnjost i priču ispričao iz kurentnog društveno-političkog rakursa, ambijentiravši je u (polu)svijet izbjeglica-bauštelaca, dilera i kriminalaca.

Francisov vodič kroz taj svijet nedaleko pakla je Reinhold (izvrsni Albrecht Schuch), "faustovski" manipulator gotovo na tragu Keysera Sosea, uključujući i njegovu hinjenu hromost i šepanje, koji je protagonista namamio prilikom da mu se život ne svodi "samo na krevet i komad kruha s maslacom".

Ulična dinamika između njih dvojice znade podsjetiti na newyorški dvojac s dna društvene kace Ratso Rizzo-Joe Buck (Dustin Hoffman, Jon Voight) iz Schlesingerova "Ponoćnog kauboja" pa Reinhold u jednoj sceni citira film i kaže mitsku "I'm walking here".

No, "Berlin Alexanderplatz" je drukčija filmska zvijer od "Midnight Cowboy". Drama ovdje ulazi u uzbudljivi krimi-triler s pljačkama ispod fluorescentnih maski klauna koju će u jednom trenutku Francis držati u ruci kao Hamlet lubanju i dvojiti o postupcima, ali i iznalazi bajkovito dirljivu romansu kad o ozlijeđenom junaku počne skrbiti prostitutka zlatnog srca i naratorica Mietze (Jella Haase, otkriće).

Balans je perfektan u izvanredno ritmičnom ostvarenju neovisno o trosatnom trajanju, režijski i narativno razrađenom do tančina, bez ijedne scene viška i manjka, a s puno lijepih detalja. Svaki podžanr odlično funkcionira u široj žanrovskoj slici filma koji impresivno spaja arhetipsko, mitsko i poetsko sa zbiljskim. "Berlin Alexanderplatz" pronalazi poeziju realizma u sjaju neona i koreografiji dramskog "slow motiona".

Ukratko o Qurbaniju

Burhan Qurbani je debitirao 2009. filmom “Woman Interrupted”, za drugijenac “Shahada” (2010.) angažirao je Mariju Škaričić, a talent četiri godine kasnije potvrdio s “We Are Young. We Are Strong.”, da bi sada eksplodirao s "Berlin Alexanderplatz". Film se prikazuje (u Splitu/"Kinoteci", Zagrebu/"Tuškanac" i Rijeci/Art-kino "Croatia") kao dio trećeg "Berlinale Speciala" koji je nanovo organizirao Goethe-Institut Kroatien.
