Ekspresije lica Jakea Sullyja i Norma Spellmana (Sam Worthington, Joel David Moore) kad ugledaju čudesne lebdeće planine na planetu Pandora govore tisuću riječi. Spellman uspije izustiti njih tri: “O, moj bože”, a Sully je ostao bez teksta. “Trebate si vidjeti izraze lica”, ispali pilotkinja Trudy (Michelle Rodriguez). Njezina izjava je metafilmska.

Trudy kao da se obraća i gledateljima “Avatara” s istovjetnim izrazima lica. “Avatar” (2009.) Jamesa Camerona izaziva “wow” efekt na velikom ekranu i ne ostavlja gledatelja ravnodušnim ni sad kad se, 13 godina kasnije, vratio u kina u remasteriranoj 4K verziji.

Autor ovih redaka gledao je “Avatara” najmanje triput u 3D-u kad je svojedobno igrao u kinu i opet je ostao paf od inženjerske perfekcije kadrova. Osjećaj je bio kao da film gleda prvi put s obzirom na protok godina. Dekadu i kusur kasnije, “Avatar” još uvijek djeluje kao revolucionaran komad kinematografije i umije zadiviti besprijekornom fluorescentnom vizualnosti i dirnuti nepatvorenim emocijama.

Trodimenzionalna imerzivnost “Avatara” je nenadmaš(e)na. Samo se “Gravitacija”, “Blade Runner 2049”, “Dina” i “Knjiga o džungli” mogu mjeriti s “Avatarovim” zapanjujućim 3D doživljajem, možda i “Pijev život” i “Tron: Nasljedstvo”. Mnogi su, od “Sudara Titana” nadalje, pokušali rekreirati ili replicirati 3D magiju “Avatara”, ali nisu uspjeli zato što njihova “treća dimenzija” nije bila prava, već konverzija izvedena da brže-bolje kapitalizira na uspjehu Cameronova SF megahita.

No, lako za 3D, film općenito izgleda impresivnije, čišće, manje generički i artificijalno od većine kompjutorski generiranih blockbustera snimljenih u međuvremenu, računajući i superherojske spektakle od kojih je možda tek “Aquaman” ravan njegovoj izgradnji realističnog digitalnog svijeta iz mašte.

Nema što, “Avatar” je filmska magija u najboljem smislu te riječi, savršen podsjetnik na to zašto volimo gledati filmove u kinu i zašto je Cameronov blockbuster (bio) nezaboravan, makar ga neki konstantno proglašavali zaboravljenim u kolektivnoj popkulturnoj svijesti, iako se njegov DNK mogao pronaći na sve strane, od animiranog serijala “How To Train Your Dragon” (pripitomljavanje zmaja i let na njegovim krilima) do “Opasnosti iz dubine” (scena sa svjetlucavim meduzama).

Ne bi takav “Avatar” bio da njegova slikovnost nije vješto sinkronizirana s glazbom Jamesa Hornera, Cameronovom naracijom i emocijama likova, odnosno da se film ne osjeća, kao što su se osjećali i Cameronovi još bolji prethodnici “Terminator”, “Aliens”, “Bezdan”, “Terminator 2”, “Istinite laži” i “Titanic”.

Kad godine 2154. paraplegični marinac Sully dobije korporativno-vojni zadatak da se u avatarskom tijelu ubaci među domorodačko stanovništvo Pandore, humanoidne izvanzemaljce Na’vije, te pridobije njihovo povjerenje kako bi ih nagovorio da se povuku sa svoga staništa gdje se nalazi iznimno vrijedan mineral unobtanij, on potom mora za videodnevnik dokumentirati “sve što vidi i osjeća”.

Gledanje i osjećanje prenosi se i na kinoposjetitelja. Gledatelj Sullyjevim očima otkriva Pandoru, sve njezine opasnosti i krasote. Njegovim očima doživljavamo mistični svijet planeta i domoroce Na’vije, naročito ratnicu Neytiri (odlična Zoe Saldana), rasnu cameronovsku heroinu u koju će se on zaljubiti, kao što je u nju zaljubljen i sam redatelj kojemu Sully dođe kao supstitut.

Scene njihova zaljubljivanja i dalje su prilično magične, ekvivalentne magiji zaljubljivanja Fletchera Christiana u tahićansku domorotkinju u “Bountyju”, još jedna potvrda da je Cameron romantični sanjar u duši, podjednako zainteresiran za SF-ovska vizualna čudesa, akcijskojunački mačizam robota u tijelu ljudi i “marinaca u avatarskom odijelu” (“moćna kombinacija”) te nježne romanse veće od života, vremena i prostora.

U robotskom srcu “Terminatora” krije se divna ljudska ljubavna priča, izvanzemaljski “The Abyss” i akcijsko-komični “True Lies” govore o pomirenju razvedenog/otuđenog bračnog para, a “Titanic” je ultimativni ljubić u okviru epskog hollywoodskog spektakla i filma katastrofe.

Cameronovo romantično srce nastavlja kucati i u “Avataru” i gledatelj u potpunosti razumije zašto Sully, razapet između dužnosti i zaljubljenosti, tj. pripadnosti, zaboravlja “na čijoj je strani” i u konačnici odabire Na’vije i Neytiri, jednako kako je razumio njegove odmetnute prethodnike koji su prihvatili drugu kulturu i običaje kao vlastite u “Lawrenceu od Arabije” i “Plesu s vukovima”.

Navi’ji su izvanzemaljski Indijanci, ali i Iračani u periodu “rata protiv terora”. Film se alegorijski dotiče američke post-9/11 invazije na Bliski istok, kao što je “Aliens” bio alegorija na Vijetnam, pa pukovnik Quaritch (Stephen Lang) – glavni negativac filma uz korporativca Selfridgea (Giovanni Ribisi) – u jednom trenutku parafrazira Bushovu retoriku “Naša jedina sigurnost leži u preventivnom napadu. Protiv terora ćemo se boriti terorom...”.

Politika “Avatara” danas rezonira s ruskom invazijom na Ukrajinu, a Cameronove ekološke (i antikorporativne) poruke su relevantnije nego ikad u vrijeme sve veće destrukcije našeg planeta i planova za kolonizaciju drugih. Puno je stvarnosti u “Avataru”, ali film istovremeno nudi sanjarski bijeg od zbilje. Sully ostavlja stvarni ljudski svijet iza sebe i prihvaća avatarsko odijelo kao novo tijelo, tj. Pandoru kao novi dom, baš poput samog Camerona.

Ekspresije lica Jakea Sullyja i Norma Spellmana (Sam Worthington, Joel David Moore) kad ugledaju čudesne lebdeće planine na planetu Pandora govore tisuću riječi. Spellman uspije izustiti njih tri: “O, moj bože”, a Sully je ostao bez teksta. “Trebate si vidjeti izraze lica”, ispali pilotkinja Trudy (Michelle Rodriguez). Njezina izjava je metafilmska.

Trudy kao da se obraća i gledateljima “Avatara” s istovjetnim izrazima lica. “Avatar” (2009.) Jamesa Camerona izaziva “wow” efekt na velikom ekranu i ne ostavlja gledatelja ravnodušnim ni sad kad se, 13 godina kasnije, vratio u kina u remasteriranoj 4K verziji.

Autor ovih redaka gledao je “Avatara” najmanje triput u 3D-u kad je svojedobno igrao u kinu i opet je ostao paf od inženjerske perfekcije kadrova. Osjećaj je bio kao da film gleda prvi put s obzirom na protok godina. Dekadu i kusur kasnije, “Avatar” još uvijek djeluje kao revolucionaran komad kinematografije i umije zadiviti besprijekornom fluorescentnom vizualnosti i dirnuti nepatvorenim emocijama.

Trodimenzionalna imerzivnost “Avatara” je nenadmaš(e)na. Samo se “Gravitacija”, “Blade Runner 2049”, “Dina” i “Knjiga o džungli” mogu mjeriti s “Avatarovim” zapanjujućim 3D doživljajem, možda i “Pijev život” i “Tron: Nasljedstvo”. Mnogi su, od “Sudara Titana” nadalje, pokušali rekreirati ili replicirati 3D magiju “Avatara”, ali nisu uspjeli zato što njihova “treća dimenzija” nije bila prava, već konverzija izvedena da brže-bolje kapitalizira na uspjehu Cameronova SF megahita.

No, lako za 3D, film općenito izgleda impresivnije, čišće, manje generički i artificijalno od većine kompjutorski generiranih blockbustera snimljenih u međuvremenu, računajući i superherojske spektakle od kojih je možda tek “Aquaman” ravan njegovoj izgradnji realističnog digitalnog svijeta iz mašte.

Nema što, “Avatar” je filmska magija u najboljem smislu te riječi, savršen podsjetnik na to zašto volimo gledati filmove u kinu i zašto je Cameronov blockbuster (bio) nezaboravan, makar ga neki konstantno proglašavali zaboravljenim u kolektivnoj popkulturnoj svijesti, iako se njegov DNK mogao pronaći na sve strane, od animiranog serijala “How To Train Your Dragon” (pripitomljavanje zmaja i let na njegovim krilima) do “Opasnosti iz dubine” (scena sa svjetlucavim meduzama).

Ne bi takav “Avatar” bio da njegova slikovnost nije vješto sinkronizirana s glazbom Jamesa Hornera, Cameronovom naracijom i emocijama likova, odnosno da se film ne osjeća, kao što su se osjećali i Cameronovi još bolji prethodnici “Terminator”, “Aliens”, “Bezdan”, “Terminator 2”, “Istinite laži” i “Titanic”.

Kad godine 2154. paraplegični marinac Sully dobije korporativno-vojni zadatak da se u avatarskom tijelu ubaci među domorodačko stanovništvo Pandore, humanoidne izvanzemaljce Na’vije, te pridobije njihovo povjerenje kako bi ih nagovorio da se povuku sa svoga staništa gdje se nalazi iznimno vrijedan mineral unobtanij, on potom mora za videodnevnik dokumentirati “sve što vidi i osjeća”.

Gledanje i osjećanje prenosi se i na kinoposjetitelja. Gledatelj Sullyjevim očima otkriva Pandoru, sve njezine opasnosti i krasote. Njegovim očima doživljavamo mistični svijet planeta i domoroce Na’vije, naročito ratnicu Neytiri (odlična Zoe Saldana), rasnu cameronovsku heroinu u koju će se on zaljubiti, kao što je u nju zaljubljen i sam redatelj kojemu Sully dođe kao supstitut.

Scene njihova zaljubljivanja i dalje su prilično magične, ekvivalentne magiji zaljubljivanja Fletchera Christiana u tahićansku domorotkinju u “Bountyju”, još jedna potvrda da je Cameron romantični sanjar u duši, podjednako zainteresiran za SF-ovska vizualna čudesa, akcijskojunački mačizam robota u tijelu ljudi i “marinaca u avatarskom odijelu” (“moćna kombinacija”) te nježne romanse veće od života, vremena i prostora.

U robotskom srcu “Terminatora” krije se divna ljudska ljubavna priča, izvanzemaljski “The Abyss” i akcijsko-komični “True Lies” govore o pomirenju razvedenog/otuđenog bračnog para, a “Titanic” je ultimativni ljubić u okviru epskog hollywoodskog spektakla i filma katastrofe.

Cameronovo romantično srce nastavlja kucati i u “Avataru” i gledatelj u potpunosti razumije zašto Sully, razapet između dužnosti i zaljubljenosti, tj. pripadnosti, zaboravlja “na čijoj je strani” i u konačnici odabire Na’vije i Neytiri, jednako kako je razumio njegove odmetnute prethodnike koji su prihvatili drugu kulturu i običaje kao vlastite u “Lawrenceu od Arabije” i “Plesu s vukovima”.

Navi’ji su izvanzemaljski Indijanci, ali i Iračani u periodu “rata protiv terora”. Film se alegorijski dotiče američke post-9/11 invazije na Bliski istok, kao što je “Aliens” bio alegorija na Vijetnam, pa pukovnik Quaritch (Stephen Lang) – glavni negativac filma uz korporativca Selfridgea (Giovanni Ribisi) – u jednom trenutku parafrazira Bushovu retoriku “Naša jedina sigurnost leži u preventivnom napadu. Protiv terora ćemo se boriti terorom...”.

Politika “Avatara” danas rezonira s ruskom invazijom na Ukrajinu, a Cameronove ekološke (i antikorporativne) poruke su relevantnije nego ikad u vrijeme sve veće destrukcije našeg planeta i planova za kolonizaciju drugih. Puno je stvarnosti u “Avataru”, ali film istovremeno nudi sanjarski bijeg od zbilje. Sully ostavlja stvarni ljudski svijet iza sebe i prihvaća avatarsko odijelo kao novo tijelo, tj. Pandoru kao novi dom, baš poput samog Camerona.

‘Avatar‘: Car svih novijih blockbustera

Ekspresije lica Jakea Sullyja i Norma Spellmana (Sam Worthington, Joel David Moore) kad ugledaju čudesne lebdeće planine na planetu Pandora govore tisuću riječi. Spellman uspije izustiti njih tri: “O, moj bože”, a Sully je ostao bez teksta. “Trebate si vidjeti izraze lica”, ispali pilotkinja Trudy (Michelle Rodriguez). Njezina izjava je metafilmska.

Trudy kao da se obraća i gledateljima “Avatara” s istovjetnim izrazima lica. “Avatar” (2009.) Jamesa Camerona izaziva “wow” efekt na velikom ekranu i ne ostavlja gledatelja ravnodušnim ni sad kad se, 13 godina kasnije, vratio u kina u remasteriranoj 4K verziji.

Autor ovih redaka gledao je “Avatara” najmanje triput u 3D-u kad je svojedobno igrao u kinu i opet je ostao paf od inženjerske perfekcije kadrova. Osjećaj je ...
