Podrijetlo imena Rastovac nalazimo u starohrvatskoj riječi raz - što označava najniži dio nekoga područja, odnosno udolinu.
Selo u Općini Zagvozd, smješteno nedaleko od autoceste A1 i tunela "Sveti Ilija", okruženo je strmim padinama Biokova pa u proljeće postaje zelena oaza na kojoj odmarate i oči i dušu. Zimi okoliš poprima tamnije nijanse, no mještanima su sve boje jednako drage.
- Oko Božića sunce izađe u 11.45, a zalazi u 12.15 sati. Liti je vruće jer smo u kotlini, no meni je, bez obzira na godišnja doba, Rastovac najlipše misto za život. Volio bi da je cesta još uža pa da što manje ljudi prolazi ovuda.
Cijena ovakvog mira je nedostatak sadržaja, no mislin da ovdje nikome nije do kafića, već su im prioriteti tišina i priroda. Prije četiri godine san iz Makarske preselio proizvodni pogon u Rastovac jer je zahvaljujući tunelu selo odlično povezano s drugim mistima.
U Makarskoj sam za 10 minuta, autocesta je kilometar daleko, a ništa ne remeti sklad sela s prirodon. Obnovio san očevu rodnu kuću, preuredio je u vilu s bazenom i već sedmu godinu iznajmljujemo. Turisti rado dolaze u ovaj kraj, neki se i vraćaju pa smo puni stotinjak dana godišnje - kaže nam Ivan Lončar, vlasnik tvrtke za izradu namještaja.

Mijo Serdarević Miško prati sva zbivanja u selu, "nadgleda" obnovu kuća, a da mu nije štake o koju se oslanja, zaputio bi se i do Zagvozda.
- Dosta svita živi vanka, pa obnavljaju stare kuće. Ko što smo mi prije poludili za višnjama, tako su sad svi poludili za bazenima. Sve u svoje vrime. Nekoć je ovde bilo stotinu dice, a ne znan ima li danas 70 ljudi ukupno.
Bilo je prije i sirotinje, ali život je bio bolji negoli sad. Puno svita, puno razgovora i zajedništva. Toga najviše fali.

Već godinama govore kako će Općina popravit cestu, ali nisu kazali koje godine će to bit. Meni i ne triba. Ovde san rođen, a di si rođen, tu ti je najbolje - kaže Miško.
Da je tome tako, potvrđuje nam i Rade Serdarević kojeg smo zatekli ispred "Bijele kuće".
- Rodio sam se u Rastovcu, a u Kanadu sam otišao 1968. Nisam mislio da ću ikad živjeti ovdje. Međutim, kad se izgradio tunel i prošao autoput u blizini, supruga Ankica i ja odlučili smo vratiti se. Odluka nije bila laka jer nam djeca žive u Kanadi, no od prošle godine zastalno smo u Rastovcu.

Kupio sam kuću od stričevića, a u kuću i okućnicu ugrađeno je petsto kamiona kamena. U Kanadi sam imao uhodanu građevinsku firmu koju sad vode djeca, a došavši ovdje primijetio sam da naši majstori i građevinari više zarađuju negoli oni u Kanadi.
Postoji još jedna uočljiva razlika; ovdje obećaju, a ne izvrše, kažu da će doći pa ih čekaš cijeli dan, a ne dođu. Na Zapadu je to nezamislivo. Mnogi naši prijatelji iz Hrvatske i inozemstva svrate do nas, dive se prirodnim ljepotama sela, no usprkos tome narod odavde biži. Trava se drugdje uvijek čini zelenija - kaže nam Rade Serdarević.
- Prijatelji su me pitali kako mogu Calgary zamijeniti Rastovcem, no kad se čovjek odluči, lako se prilagodi novonastaloj situaciji. Dok sam živjela u Kanadi, koristila sam sve sadržaje koje tamošnji život nudi, a sad kad živim u Rastovcu, prilagodila sam se životu na selu i ne fali mi ništa - dodaje Ankica Serdarević.
Marija Šuta živi u Makarskoj, a prošlih vremena prisjeća se s nostalgijom:
- Što sam starija, sve mi više nedostaju vikendi koje sam s tatom provodila u Rastovcu. Budila me je zvonjava stoke s pojila i mirisna kava moje babe. Nijedna kava više ne miriše tako dobro.
Ljudi su bili uglavnom težaci i teško se radilo, a ipak su mi djelovali sretniji i zadovoljniji nego ljudi danas. Avantura mi je bila s rodicom odvesti krave u pašu i stalno sam se izmicala jer sam se bojala približiti kravama. Najdraže mi je bilo iz kokošinjca uzeti svježe jaje i popiti ga sirovog.
Sjećam se i odlazaka u zadrugu po bombone koji su se refužo prodavali. Cijene su se zapisivale i zbrajale na škartocu. Za današnju djecu to su nepojmljive stvari. Sad se sve najčešće svodi na posjete groblju - sjetno će Marija.
Ima dana kad sunce za vrijeme zimskog solsticija neke kuće u Rastovcu nikad ne obasja, ali nasmijani i vedri mještani kao da su uvijek suncem obasjani. Proći tunelom Rastovac, a ne vidjeti istoimeno selo velika je šteta jer kad vas Biokovo zagrli sa svih strana, shvatite da zelenije trave od ove nema.

Podrijetlo imena Rastovac nalazimo u starohrvatskoj riječi raz - što označava najniži dio nekoga područja, odnosno udolinu.
Selo u Općini Zagvozd, smješteno nedaleko od autoceste A1 i tunela "Sveti Ilija", okruženo je strmim padinama Biokova pa u proljeće postaje zelena oaza na kojoj odmarate i oči i dušu. Zimi okoliš poprima tamnije nijanse, no mještanima su sve boje jednako drage.
- Oko Božića sunce izađe u 11.45, a zalazi u 12.15 sati. Liti je vruće jer smo u kotlini, no meni je, bez obzira na godišnja doba, Rastovac najlipše misto za život. Volio bi da je cesta još uža pa da što manje ljudi prolazi ovuda.
Cijena ovakvog mira je nedostatak sadržaja, no mislin da ovdje nikome nije do kafića, već su im prioriteti tišina i priroda. Prije četiri godine san iz Makarske preselio proizvodni pogon u Rastovac jer je zahvaljujući tunelu selo odlično povezano s drugim mistima.
U Makarskoj sam za 10 minuta, autocesta je kilometar daleko, a ništa ne remeti sklad sela s prirodon. Obnovio san očevu rodnu kuću, preuredio je u vilu s bazenom i već sedmu godinu iznajmljujemo. Turisti rado dolaze u ovaj kraj, neki se i vraćaju pa smo puni stotinjak dana godišnje - kaže nam Ivan Lončar, vlasnik tvrtke za izradu namještaja.

Mijo Serdarević Miško prati sva zbivanja u selu, "nadgleda" obnovu kuća, a da mu nije štake o koju se oslanja, zaputio bi se i do Zagvozda.
- Dosta svita živi vanka, pa obnavljaju stare kuće. Ko što smo mi prije poludili za višnjama, tako su sad svi poludili za bazenima. Sve u svoje vrime. Nekoć je ovde bilo stotinu dice, a ne znan ima li danas 70 ljudi ukupno.
Bilo je prije i sirotinje, ali život je bio bolji negoli sad. Puno svita, puno razgovora i zajedništva. Toga najviše fali.

Već godinama govore kako će Općina popravit cestu, ali nisu kazali koje godine će to bit. Meni i ne triba. Ovde san rođen, a di si rođen, tu ti je najbolje - kaže Miško.
Da je tome tako, potvrđuje nam i Rade Serdarević kojeg smo zatekli ispred "Bijele kuće".
- Rodio sam se u Rastovcu, a u Kanadu sam otišao 1968. Nisam mislio da ću ikad živjeti ovdje. Međutim, kad se izgradio tunel i prošao autoput u blizini, supruga Ankica i ja odlučili smo vratiti se. Odluka nije bila laka jer nam djeca žive u Kanadi, no od prošle godine zastalno smo u Rastovcu.

Kupio sam kuću od stričevića, a u kuću i okućnicu ugrađeno je petsto kamiona kamena. U Kanadi sam imao uhodanu građevinsku firmu koju sad vode djeca, a došavši ovdje primijetio sam da naši majstori i građevinari više zarađuju negoli oni u Kanadi.
Postoji još jedna uočljiva razlika; ovdje obećaju, a ne izvrše, kažu da će doći pa ih čekaš cijeli dan, a ne dođu. Na Zapadu je to nezamislivo. Mnogi naši prijatelji iz Hrvatske i inozemstva svrate do nas, dive se prirodnim ljepotama sela, no usprkos tome narod odavde biži. Trava se drugdje uvijek čini zelenija - kaže nam Rade Serdarević.
- Prijatelji su me pitali kako mogu Calgary zamijeniti Rastovcem, no kad se čovjek odluči, lako se prilagodi novonastaloj situaciji. Dok sam živjela u Kanadi, koristila sam sve sadržaje koje tamošnji život nudi, a sad kad živim u Rastovcu, prilagodila sam se životu na selu i ne fali mi ništa - dodaje Ankica Serdarević.
Marija Šuta živi u Makarskoj, a prošlih vremena prisjeća se s nostalgijom:
- Što sam starija, sve mi više nedostaju vikendi koje sam s tatom provodila u Rastovcu. Budila me je zvonjava stoke s pojila i mirisna kava moje babe. Nijedna kava više ne miriše tako dobro.
Ljudi su bili uglavnom težaci i teško se radilo, a ipak su mi djelovali sretniji i zadovoljniji nego ljudi danas. Avantura mi je bila s rodicom odvesti krave u pašu i stalno sam se izmicala jer sam se bojala približiti kravama. Najdraže mi je bilo iz kokošinjca uzeti svježe jaje i popiti ga sirovog.
Sjećam se i odlazaka u zadrugu po bombone koji su se refužo prodavali. Cijene su se zapisivale i zbrajale na škartocu. Za današnju djecu to su nepojmljive stvari. Sad se sve najčešće svodi na posjete groblju - sjetno će Marija.
Ima dana kad sunce za vrijeme zimskog solsticija neke kuće u Rastovcu nikad ne obasja, ali nasmijani i vedri mještani kao da su uvijek suncem obasjani. Proći tunelom Rastovac, a ne vidjeti istoimeno selo velika je šteta jer kad vas Biokovo zagrli sa svih strana, shvatite da zelenije trave od ove nema.
