Britanski premijer Gordon Brown u utorak je objelodanio da se ispričao majci poginuloga britanskog vojnika kojoj je prije toga poslao nemarno i neuredno pismo sućuti.

Jacqui Janes, čiji je 20-godišnji sin Jamie u listopadu poginuo u Afganistanu, premijerovu rukom pisanu poruku, u kojoj je osim podosta pravopisnih pogrješaka još i krivo napisao njihovo prezime, nazvala je "nepismenom uvrjedom".

Na redovitoj tiskovnoj konferenciji u utorak Brown je svoj ispad pripisao lošem rukopisu i izrazio žaljenje zbog svega.

"Jučer sam se ispričao Jacqui Janes za svaku pogrješku koju sam napravio. Zadnja stvar koju sam htio napraviti jest uvrijediti ju. Ljudi koji me poznaju znaju da mi nikad ne bi bila namjera nanijeti bol ucviljenoj majci", rekao je.

Brown se ispričao u osobnom telefonskom pozivu u ponedjeljak popodne. Jacqui Janes ga je snimila i transkript dostavila tabloidu "Sunu" koji ga je danas objavio. Downing Street nije znao da se razgovor snima.

U transkriptu se vidi da je tužna majka žestoko kritizirala premijera zbog manjka opreme i lošeg financiranja vojske, zbog čega je i, kako tvrdi, umro njezin sin.

"Kako bi se vama svidjelo da jedno od vaše djece, Bože sačuvaj, ode u rat.. i da to vaše dijete zbog manjka helikoptera, manjka opreme, iskrvari do smrti", zapitala je.

"Gospodine Brown, slušajte me.. Znam svaku ozljedu koju je moje dijete pretrpjelo taj dan i znam da je moj sin mogao preživjeti", rekla mu je, kako prenosi "Sun".

Brown je odgovarao da je razumije i naglasio da je nikako nije želio uvrijediti. "Moj rukopis je loš, nečitak. Žao mi je. Pokušao sam pisati iskreno o doprinosu vašeg sina..."

Na tiskovnoj konferenciji je, međutim, naglasio da britanska vojska u Afganistanu dobiva sve što joj treba i da nikad nije bila opremljenija. Dodao je da je misija u Afganistanu vitalna za britansku sigurnost i da postoje planovi "da se unaprijedi".

Britanski premijer Gordon Brown u utorak je objelodanio da se ispričao majci poginuloga britanskog vojnika kojoj je prije toga poslao nemarno i neuredno pismo sućuti.

Jacqui Janes, čiji je 20-godišnji sin Jamie u listopadu poginuo u Afganistanu, premijerovu rukom pisanu poruku, u kojoj je osim podosta pravopisnih pogrješaka još i krivo napisao njihovo prezime, nazvala je "nepismenom uvrjedom".

Na redovitoj tiskovnoj konferenciji u utorak Brown je svoj ispad pripisao lošem rukopisu i izrazio žaljenje zbog svega.

"Jučer sam se ispričao Jacqui Janes za svaku pogrješku koju sam napravio. Zadnja stvar koju sam htio napraviti jest uvrijediti ju. Ljudi koji me poznaju znaju da mi nikad ne bi bila namjera nanijeti bol ucviljenoj majci", rekao je.

Brown se ispričao u osobnom telefonskom pozivu u ponedjeljak popodne. Jacqui Janes ga je snimila i transkript dostavila tabloidu "Sunu" koji ga je danas objavio. Downing Street nije znao da se razgovor snima.

U transkriptu se vidi da je tužna majka žestoko kritizirala premijera zbog manjka opreme i lošeg financiranja vojske, zbog čega je i, kako tvrdi, umro njezin sin.

"Kako bi se vama svidjelo da jedno od vaše djece, Bože sačuvaj, ode u rat.. i da to vaše dijete zbog manjka helikoptera, manjka opreme, iskrvari do smrti", zapitala je.

"Gospodine Brown, slušajte me.. Znam svaku ozljedu koju je moje dijete pretrpjelo taj dan i znam da je moj sin mogao preživjeti", rekla mu je, kako prenosi "Sun".

Brown je odgovarao da je razumije i naglasio da je nikako nije želio uvrijediti. "Moj rukopis je loš, nečitak. Žao mi je. Pokušao sam pisati iskreno o doprinosu vašeg sina..."

Na tiskovnoj konferenciji je, međutim, naglasio da britanska vojska u Afganistanu dobiva sve što joj treba i da nikad nije bila opremljenija. Dodao je da je misija u Afganistanu vitalna za britansku sigurnost i da postoje planovi "da se unaprijedi".
