Za Mariju Oktjabrsku muž je bio doslovno sve u životu. Kada je u kolovozu 1941. godine saznala da je komesar pukovnije 206. streljačke divizije Ilja Oktjabrski pao herojskom smrću u borbama kod Kijeva, svijet joj se preokrenuo naopačke, piše Russia Beyond.

Pokušala je proći regrutaciju normalnim putem, ali nije imala uspjeha pa je odlučila aktivno sudjelovati u prikupljanju sredstava za Crvenu armiju prodavajući jastučnice, marame i slično. Novac koji je zaradila poslala je Fondu za obranu, a u isto vrijeme je i Staljinu napisala pismo.
-Za njegovu smrt, za smrt svih sovjetskih ljudi koje su izmučili fašistički barbari, želim se osvetiti fašističkim psima, zbog čega sam državnoj banci dala svu svoju osobnu ušteđevinu od 50 000 rubalja za proizvodnju tenka. Molim da se tenk nazove 'Ratna drugarica' i da budem upućena na front kao vozačica tog tenka, napisala je. Staljin joj je dozvolio odlazak na front, a onda je ubrzo i završila školu za tenkisticu. Prema želji, tenk se zvao 'Ratna drugarica'.
Onda je 18. studenog "Ratna drugarica" pregazila artiljerijsko oruđe i uništila pedesetak neprijateljskih vojnika. Tenk je pogođen tako da se nije više mogao kretati, ali je dva dana odbijao neprijateljske napade, dok nije stiglo pojačanje, nastavlja Russia Beyond.

U borbi kod sovhoza 18. siječnja 1944. godine Oktjabrska je ponovo pokazala junaštvo: njezin T-34 pregazio je tri njemačka mitraljeska gnijezda i likvidirao dvadeset vojnika i časnika Wehrmachta. Oštećenu gusjenicu posada tenka morala je popraviti pod neprijateljskom vatrom.
Baš tada je Marija Vasiljevna teško ranjena. Šrapnel ju je pogodio u lijevo oko, a uskoro se ispostavilo da je prodro sve do mozga.
Nekoliko mjeseci Oktjabrska je provela u bolnici gdje je odlikovana Ordenom Domovinskog rata 1. reda. Iako su se liječnici borili za njezin život, ipak je preminula od ozljeda.

Molim da se tenk nazove 'Ratna drugarica' i da budem upućena na front kao vozačica tog tenka, napisala je. Staljin joj je dozvolio odlazak na front, a onda je ubrzo i završila školu za tenkisticu. Prema želji, tenk se zvao 'Ratna drugarica'.
Onda je 18. studenog "Ratna drugarica" pregazila artiljerijsko oruđe i uništila pedesetak neprijateljskih vojnika. Tenk je pogođen tako da se nije više mogao kretati, ali je dva dana odbijao neprijateljske napade, dok nije stiglo pojačanje, nastavlja Russia Beyond.

U borbi kod sovhoza 18. siječnja 1944. godine Oktjabrska je ponovo pokazala junaštvo: njezin T-34 pregazio je tri njemačka mitraljeska gnijezda i likvidirao dvadeset vojnika i časnika Wehrmachta. Oštećenu gusjenicu posada tenka morala je popraviti pod neprijateljskom vatrom.
Baš tada je Marija Vasiljevna teško ranjena. Šrapnel ju je pogodio u lijevo oko, a uskoro se ispostavilo da je prodro sve do mozga.
Nekoliko mjeseci Oktjabrska je provela u bolnici gdje je odlikovana Ordenom Domovinskog rata 1. reda. Iako su se liječnici borili za njezin život, ipak je preminula od ozljeda.

Za Mariju Oktjabrsku muž je bio doslovno sve u životu. Kada je u kolovozu 1941. godine saznala da je komesar pukovnije 206. streljačke divizije Ilja Oktjabrski pao herojskom smrću u borbama kod Kijeva, svijet joj se preokrenuo naopačke, piše Russia Beyond.
Pokušala je proći regrutaciju normalnim putem, ali nije imala uspjeha pa je odlučila aktivno sudjelovati u prikupljanju sredstava za Crvenu armiju prodavajući jastučnice, marame i slično. Novac koji je zaradila poslala je Fondu za obranu, a u isto vrijeme je i Staljinu napisala pismo.
