Sveučilište Oxford objavilo je u četvrtak da će pokrenuti medicinsko istraživanje kombiniranja doza cjepiva protiv covida-19 različitih proizvođača što će biti prvo takvo istraživanje.
Istraživanje će pokazati mogu li se kombinirati različite doze cjepiva AstraZenece i Pfizer/BioNTecha što bi bio odgovor na krizne situacije u kojima nekog cjepiva nema za drugu dozu te bi omogućilo veću fleksibilnost u programima cijepljenja.
Zamjenik glavnog britanskog zdravstvenog dužnosnika Jonathan Van-Tam kazao je da će istraživanje pružiti bolji uvid u korištenje cjepiva protiv covida-19.
"S obzirom na neizbježne izazove cijepljenja velikog broja ljudi protiv covida-19 i potencijalnih globalnih problema s opskrbom postoje neupitne prednosti raspolaganja podacima koji bi bili temelj fleksibilnijeg programa cijepljenja", rekao je Van-Tam.
"Moguće je čak i da bi se kombiniranjem cjepiva osnažio imuni odgovor stvaranjem većeg titra antitijela koja traju dulje", dodao je.
Istraživanja na cjepivima protiv ebola virusa pokazala su da kombiniranje cjepiva poboljšava razinu zaštite od zaraze, piše BBC.
Studija koja će trajati 13 mjeseci usporedit će različite kombinacije prvih i dodatnih doza cjepiva AstraZenece i BioNTech/Pfizera u intervalima od četiri i 12 tjedana.
Com-Cov studija obuhvatit će 800 dobrovoljaca starijih od 50 godina na području Engleske.
Pratit će se nuspojave, a analizama krvnih testova pratit će se koliko se snažan imuni odgovor razvija nakon kombinacija cjepiva.
Britanija, prva zapadna nacija koja je pokrenula vlastiti program cijepljenja davala ih je u intervalima od 12 tjedana kako bi prvu dozu dobilo što više pojedinaca.
Profesor Matthew Snape sa sveučilišta Oxford nazvao je studiju "vrlo uzbudljivom" dodajući da će pružiti "informacije vitalne za cijepljenje u Britaniji i svijetu".
Ako studija pokaže pozitivne rezultate britanski neovisni medicinski regulator formalno bi procijenio sigurnost i učinkovitost bilo kojeg novog režima cijepljenja prije odobrenja za primjenu na ljudima.
Nesuglasice između Velike Britanije i Europske unije oko dobave cjepiva proključale su proteklih tjedana i Bruxelles je krenuo u ograničavanje izvoza cjepiva u Sjevernu Irsku prije nego što je brzo od toga odustao.
U danima nako toga članice EU-a i Europska komisija nastavile su kritizirati britansko-švedskog proizvođača cjepiva AstraZenecu zbog usporavanja dostave cjepiva, a dovedena je u pitanje i učinkovitost cjepiva, posebno kod starijih osoba.
U srijedu objavljena studija pokazala je da cjepivo AstraZenece, razvijeno u suradnji sa sveučilištem Oxford, značajno smanjuje transmisiju virusa i već pruža visoku razinu zaštite nakon prve doze.
AstraZeneca i sveučilište Oxford u srijedu su objavili da bi cjepiva protiv novih varijanti koronavirusa mogla biti gotova u listopadu.

Sveučilište Oxford objavilo je u četvrtak da će pokrenuti medicinsko istraživanje kombiniranja doza cjepiva protiv covida-19 različitih proizvođača što će biti prvo takvo istraživanje.
Istraživanje će pokazati mogu li se kombinirati različite doze cjepiva AstraZenece i Pfizer/BioNTecha što bi bio odgovor na krizne situacije u kojima nekog cjepiva nema za drugu dozu te bi omogućilo veću fleksibilnost u programima cijepljenja.
Zamjenik glavnog britanskog zdravstvenog dužnosnika Jonathan Van-Tam kazao je da će istraživanje pružiti bolji uvid u korištenje cjepiva protiv covida-19.
"S obzirom na neizbježne izazove cijepljenja velikog broja ljudi protiv covida-19 i potencijalnih globalnih problema s opskrbom postoje neupitne prednosti raspolaganja podacima koji bi bili temelj fleksibilnijeg programa cijepljenja", rekao je Van-Tam.
"Moguće je čak i da bi se kombiniranjem cjepiva osnažio imuni odgovor stvaranjem većeg titra antitijela koja traju dulje", dodao je.
Istraživanja na cjepivima protiv ebola virusa pokazala su da kombiniranje cjepiva poboljšava razinu zaštite od zaraze, piše BBC.
Studija koja će trajati 13 mjeseci usporedit će različite kombinacije prvih i dodatnih doza cjepiva AstraZenece i BioNTech/Pfizera u intervalima od četiri i 12 tjedana.
Com-Cov studija obuhvatit će 800 dobrovoljaca starijih od 50 godina na području Engleske.
Pratit će se nuspojave, a analizama krvnih testova pratit će se koliko se snažan imuni odgovor razvija nakon kombinacija cjepiva.
Britanija, prva zapadna nacija koja je pokrenula vlastiti program cijepljenja davala ih je u intervalima od 12 tjedana kako bi prvu dozu dobilo što više pojedinaca.
Profesor Matthew Snape sa sveučilišta Oxford nazvao je studiju "vrlo uzbudljivom" dodajući da će pružiti "informacije vitalne za cijepljenje u Britaniji i svijetu".
Ako studija pokaže pozitivne rezultate britanski neovisni medicinski regulator formalno bi procijenio sigurnost i učinkovitost bilo kojeg novog režima cijepljenja prije odobrenja za primjenu na ljudima.
Nesuglasice između Velike Britanije i Europske unije oko dobave cjepiva proključale su proteklih tjedana i Bruxelles je krenuo u ograničavanje izvoza cjepiva u Sjevernu Irsku prije nego što je brzo od toga odustao.
U danima nako toga članice EU-a i Europska komisija nastavile su kritizirati britansko-švedskog proizvođača cjepiva AstraZenecu zbog usporavanja dostave cjepiva, a dovedena je u pitanje i učinkovitost cjepiva, posebno kod starijih osoba.
U srijedu objavljena studija pokazala je da cjepivo AstraZenece, razvijeno u suradnji sa sveučilištem Oxford, značajno smanjuje transmisiju virusa i već pruža visoku razinu zaštite nakon prve doze.
AstraZeneca i sveučilište Oxford u srijedu su objavili da bi cjepiva protiv novih varijanti koronavirusa mogla biti gotova u listopadu.
