Kod nje nikad ništa nije bilo sasvim obično.
Mirjana Lučić Baroni od malih je nogu bila posebna. I na teniskom terenu, ali i izvan njega. Veliki, kolosalni talent čija je karijera trebala biti možda i jedna od najvećih u povijesti, ali onda se dogodio već toliko puta opjevani obiteljski sukob zbog kojeg je Mirjana sa sestrama, bratom i majkom otišla u Sjedinjene Američke Države.
Sada je na pragu 39. godine, ne igra već dulje vremena, prije tri je tjedna rodila djevojčicu, a onda u intervjuu za Tennis.com najavila kako bi se još jednom mogla vratiti na teniske terene.
- Bilo je sve to pomalo neočekivano. Za takve stvari razgovarali smo da ih damo u Božje ruke i da će se stvari dogoditi onako kako je trebalo. Kad se sve to dogodilo kako je i trebalo, shvatili smo da je stigao znak, da je vrijeme da objavimo vijest - otkrila je u intervjuu za Tennis.
Nakon duge pauze i devetogodišnjeg izbivanja iz Hrvatske u svoju se domovinu vratila 2007. Postojala je ideja, inicijativa, da pod skrbi tadašnjeg gradonačelnka Hvara Pjerina Bebića tamo pokrene svoju karijeru, kao i akademiju, ali ta je priča bila kratkog daha. Ipak, bio je to početak povratka Mirjane na teniske terene, na turnire.
Nije sve išlo baš sasvim glatko, bilo je uspona i padova, ali je 2011. Mirjana opet ušla u top 100, da bi u 2014. Ušla u četvrto kolo US Opena. Godinu kasnije stigla je i do trećeg kola Roland Garrosa, ali najveći je rezultat ostvarila 2017. kada se plasirala u polufinale Australian Opena pod vodstvom trenera Marina Bradarića.
Odlični splitski teniski stručnjak, i sam bivši profesionalni igrač, i Mirjana baš su kliknuli i odradili veliki posao. Mirjana je blistala, ali pojavili su se problemi s ramenom.
- Nije joj bilo lako u tim trenucima. Nakon tog Australian Opena odradila je još jedan bez mene. Nisam vjerovao da će uopće moći igrati, ali ona je imala ogromnu želju. Na treninzima prije turnira nije mogla odraditi ni pet normalnih servisa, ali nije posustajala. Na kraju je i uspjela solidno odigrati, ali nakon toga morala je napraviti pauzu – kazao nam je Marin Bradarić koji je s Mirjanom i dalje u dobrim odnosima i čuju se, kontaktiraju.
Jedan od ključnih trenutaka u njezinom životu dogodio se kad je 2006. upoznala Danielea Baronija, američkog poduzetnika talijanskog podrijetla koji u gradu Sarasoti na Floridi ima nekoliko restorana i kafića.
- Daniele je stvarno perfekcija od čovjeka i jako se volimo. Iako isprva nije znao ništa o tenisu, vrlo brzo je shvatio koliko je to stresan posao i uvijek mi je bio podrška - rekla je Mirjana.
Nakon Australian Opena uspjela se probiti do 20. mjesta na svijetu.
- Jedan od razloga zašto nisam ugasila Facebook je i taj što me podsjeća na taj moj put do polufinala na Australian Openu, te nevjerojatne pobjede i veliki rezultat. Naježim se kad to vidim - kazala je Mirjana.
Čudesno produžene karijere
Trebala se posebno čuvati tijekom trudnoće od koronavirusa.
- Bila sam u svojoj kući, podalje od svih. Koliko god je to ubijalo radost što nisam s obitelji, toliko sam s druge strane bila mirna, jer to je najmanji problem kad je riječ o tome da svi budemo zdravi. Sama sam išla na ultrazvuk. Čak nisam imala niti ‘baby shower’ (tradicionalno darivanje djeteta s prijateljicama op.a.) - opisala je Lučić Baroni.
Marin Bradarić ističe koliko joj je bilo bitno postati majka.
- Bio je to njezin veliki san, velika želja. S golemim je nestrpljenjema čekala da se to dogodi, i moram priznati da sam joj više želio to, da joj se ostvari, nego da osvoji iti jedan turnir. Da rodi, da postane majka...
Vrijeme tijekom trudnoće provodila tako da je gledala Australian Open i svoje kolegice.
- Kad sam ja počinjala igrati, činilo se da si s 27 godina stara u teniskim vodama, praktički su te smatrali bakom. Sportaši su toliko različiti nego prije 20 godina, karijera im se čudesno produžava. Ja? Sigurno nemam još pet godina karijere, ali kad vidim ove mame na Touru sigurno sam zaintrigirala i razmišljam o tome, ‘Da vidimo što mogu učiniti‘ – izjavila je Mirjana.
Za Daniela Baronija udala se na Floridi 2011. A je li realno da se sada, nakon trudnoće, ipak još jednom vrati u svijet profesionalnog tenisa? S 39, 40, 41 godinom.
- Ako itko to može napraviti, može ona. I kada je igrala taj Australian Open s ozljedom ramena, bila je toliko tvrdoglava, uporna. Nevjerojatna je ta njezina želja da ostvari ono što želi. Realno, teško se vratiti i igrati na vrhunskoj razini, ali kod Mirjane, ako se to dogodi, ne bih bio iznenađen – zaključio je Bradarić.
Životna knjiga Mirjane Lučić Baroni već je „debela“, još jedan povratak bio bi novo nevjerojatno poglavlje u njezinom životu. Vjerujemo da ga je spremna ispisati.

Kod nje nikad ništa nije bilo sasvim obično.
Mirjana Lučić Baroni od malih je nogu bila posebna. I na teniskom terenu, ali i izvan njega. Veliki, kolosalni talent čija je karijera trebala biti možda i jedna od najvećih u povijesti, ali onda se dogodio već toliko puta opjevani obiteljski sukob zbog kojeg je Mirjana sa sestrama, bratom i majkom otišla u Sjedinjene Američke Države.
Sada je na pragu 39. godine, ne igra već dulje vremena, prije tri je tjedna rodila djevojčicu, a onda u intervjuu za Tennis.com najavila kako bi se još jednom mogla vratiti na teniske terene.
- Bilo je sve to pomalo neočekivano. Za takve stvari razgovarali smo da ih damo u Božje ruke i da će se stvari dogoditi onako kako je trebalo. Kad se sve to dogodilo kako je i trebalo, shvatili smo da je stigao znak, da je vrijeme da objavimo vijest - otkrila je u intervjuu za Tennis.
Nakon duge pauze i devetogodišnjeg izbivanja iz Hrvatske u svoju se domovinu vratila 2007. Postojala je ideja, inicijativa, da pod skrbi tadašnjeg gradonačelnka Hvara Pjerina Bebića tamo pokrene svoju karijeru, kao i akademiju, ali ta je priča bila kratkog daha. Ipak, bio je to početak povratka Mirjane na teniske terene, na turnire.
Nije sve išlo baš sasvim glatko, bilo je uspona i padova, ali je 2011. Mirjana opet ušla u top 100, da bi u 2014. Ušla u četvrto kolo US Opena. Godinu kasnije stigla je i do trećeg kola Roland Garrosa, ali najveći je rezultat ostvarila 2017. kada se plasirala u polufinale Australian Opena pod vodstvom trenera Marina Bradarića.
Odlični splitski teniski stručnjak, i sam bivši profesionalni igrač, i Mirjana baš su kliknuli i odradili veliki posao. Mirjana je blistala, ali pojavili su se problemi s ramenom.
- Nije joj bilo lako u tim trenucima. Nakon tog Australian Opena odradila je još jedan bez mene. Nisam vjerovao da će uopće moći igrati, ali ona je imala ogromnu želju. Na treninzima prije turnira nije mogla odraditi ni pet normalnih servisa, ali nije posustajala. Na kraju je i uspjela solidno odigrati, ali nakon toga morala je napraviti pauzu – kazao nam je Marin Bradarić koji je s Mirjanom i dalje u dobrim odnosima i čuju se, kontaktiraju.
Jedan od ključnih trenutaka u njezinom životu dogodio se kad je 2006. upoznala Danielea Baronija, američkog poduzetnika talijanskog podrijetla koji u gradu Sarasoti na Floridi ima nekoliko restorana i kafića.
- Daniele je stvarno perfekcija od čovjeka i jako se volimo. Iako isprva nije znao ništa o tenisu, vrlo brzo je shvatio koliko je to stresan posao i uvijek mi je bio podrška - rekla je Mirjana.
Nakon Australian Opena uspjela se probiti do 20. mjesta na svijetu.
- Jedan od razloga zašto nisam ugasila Facebook je i taj što me podsjeća na taj moj put do polufinala na Australian Openu, te nevjerojatne pobjede i veliki rezultat. Naježim se kad to vidim - kazala je Mirjana.
Čudesno produžene karijere
Trebala se posebno čuvati tijekom trudnoće od koronavirusa.
- Bila sam u svojoj kući, podalje od svih. Koliko god je to ubijalo radost što nisam s obitelji, toliko sam s druge strane bila mirna, jer to je najmanji problem kad je riječ o tome da svi budemo zdravi. Sama sam išla na ultrazvuk. Čak nisam imala niti ‘baby shower’ (tradicionalno darivanje djeteta s prijateljicama op.a.) - opisala je Lučić Baroni.
Marin Bradarić ističe koliko joj je bilo bitno postati majka.
- Bio je to njezin veliki san, velika želja. S golemim je nestrpljenjema čekala da se to dogodi, i moram priznati da sam joj više želio to, da joj se ostvari, nego da osvoji iti jedan turnir. Da rodi, da postane majka...
Vrijeme tijekom trudnoće provodila tako da je gledala Australian Open i svoje kolegice.
- Kad sam ja počinjala igrati, činilo se da si s 27 godina stara u teniskim vodama, praktički su te smatrali bakom. Sportaši su toliko različiti nego prije 20 godina, karijera im se čudesno produžava. Ja? Sigurno nemam još pet godina karijere, ali kad vidim ove mame na Touru sigurno sam zaintrigirala i razmišljam o tome, ‘Da vidimo što mogu učiniti‘ – izjavila je Mirjana.
Za Daniela Baronija udala se na Floridi 2011. A je li realno da se sada, nakon trudnoće, ipak još jednom vrati u svijet profesionalnog tenisa? S 39, 40, 41 godinom.
- Ako itko to može napraviti, može ona. I kada je igrala taj Australian Open s ozljedom ramena, bila je toliko tvrdoglava, uporna. Nevjerojatna je ta njezina želja da ostvari ono što želi. Realno, teško se vratiti i igrati na vrhunskoj razini, ali kod Mirjane, ako se to dogodi, ne bih bio iznenađen – zaključio je Bradarić.
Životna knjiga Mirjane Lučić Baroni već je „debela“, još jedan povratak bio bi novo nevjerojatno poglavlje u njezinom životu. Vjerujemo da ga je spremna ispisati.
