Visoka povjerenica Ujedinjenih naroda za ljudska prava Navanethem Pillay izjavila je u srijedu da je jako zabrinuta zbog nove presude burmanskoj oporbenoj čelnici Aung San Suu Kyi i pozvala je tamošnju vojnu huntu da oslobodi i nju i ostale političke zatvorenike.

- Žalim zbog progona demokratski izabrane čelnice Aung San Suu Kyi koji traje gotovo četvrt stoljeća - rekla je Pillay u priopćenju.

Suu Kyi je u utorak osuđena na dodatnih 18 mjeseci kućnog pritvora jer mianmarska vojna hunta smatra da je prekršila pravila kućnog pritvora time što je pružila utočište nepozvanu američkom turistu Johnu Yettawu, koji je preplivao jezero kako bi došao do njezine kuće u Jangonu i u njoj proveo dva dana.

UN-ova povjerenica je također tražila oslobađanje svih političkih zatvorenika zatočenih u Mianmaru, posebice onih osuđenih na teške kazne zbog korištenja slobode izražavanja.

Visoka povjerenica Ujedinjenih naroda za ljudska prava Navanethem Pillay izjavila je u srijedu da je jako zabrinuta zbog nove presude burmanskoj oporbenoj čelnici Aung San Suu Kyi i pozvala je tamošnju vojnu huntu da oslobodi i nju i ostale političke zatvorenike.

- Žalim zbog progona demokratski izabrane čelnice Aung San Suu Kyi koji traje gotovo četvrt stoljeća - rekla je Pillay u priopćenju.

Suu Kyi je u utorak osuđena na dodatnih 18 mjeseci kućnog pritvora jer mianmarska vojna hunta smatra da je prekršila pravila kućnog pritvora time što je pružila utočište nepozvanu američkom turistu Johnu Yettawu, koji je preplivao jezero kako bi došao do njezine kuće u Jangonu i u njoj proveo dva dana.

UN-ova povjerenica je također tražila oslobađanje svih političkih zatvorenika zatočenih u Mianmaru, posebice onih osuđenih na teške kazne zbog korištenja slobode izražavanja.
