U 94. godini preminuo je Gaston Glock, tvorac (ne)slavnog istoimenog pištolja, omiljenog oružja snaga reda, kao i njihovih suparnika na drugoj strani zakona.

Glock 19, koji se proizvodi u austrijskom Deutsch-Wagramu, nažalost se u posljednjih dvadesetak godina profilirao i kao oružje psihopata koji neselektivno ubijaju po američkim noćnim klubovima, crkvama i školama. Njegovu vatrenu moć zloupotrijebio je i Seung-Hui Cho, koji je na sveučilištu Viriginia Tech 2007. usmrtio 33 osoba.

I dok je globalna popularnost pištolja, koji je pop kultura implementirala u svijest konzumenata diljem planeta, sve više rasla, svoj privatni život Gaston Glock uvijek se trudio držati dalje od očiju i ušiju javnosti.

New York Times navodi kako je tajnoviti milijarder živio na imanju uz jezero u Austriji, a u medijima se o njemu moglo nešto više pročitati tek tri puta; kada ga je poslovni suradnik pokušao ubiti, zatim 2011. kada se u 82. godini razveo od supruge i oženio 31-godišnjakinjom, te godinu dana kasnije 2012., kada je objavljena knjiga "Glock: The Rise of America‘s Gun", Paula M. Barretta.

Prije no što je njegov pištolj postao globalni fenomen, inženjer Glock upravljao je tvornicom hladnjaka za automobile u blizini Beča te sa suprugom vodio malu tvrtku koja je proizvodila šarke za vrata i noževe. Vatreno oružje posljednji je puta držao kada je na samom kraju 2. svjetskog rata kao tinejdžer bio unovačen u Hitlerovu vojsku.

No, 1980. Glock je slučajno načuo razgovor koji mu je promijenio život: dva časnika austrijske vojske razgovarali su o mogućnosti novog ugovora za državnu armiju.

Krenuo se više informirati o temi, razgovarao je s policajcima i stručnjacima za oružje. Ubrzo je dizajnirao i patentirao lagani 9-milimetarski poluautomatski pištolj, djelomično izrađen od čvrste plastike, koji je mogao brzo ispaliti 18 metaka i lako se ponovno napuniti streljivom.

Bio je to oružje dosadnog industrijskog izgleda, ali pritom jeftino za proizvodnju, precizno i pouzdano, spremno za paljbu čak i ako je natopljeno kišom.

Gaston Glock ubrzo je postao super uspješan trgovac, pogotovo u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama. Tamo se pojavio, za Glocka u najbolje vrijeme, sredinom 1980-ih, kada je stopa kriminala drastično porasla. Dvije trećine američkih policijskih snaga, uključujući i one u New Yorku, ubrzo su usvojile Glock 19.

Austrijski poduzetnik kasnije je osnovao je proizvodne pogone u SAD-u, Europi i Aziji. Kupovao je mlazne avione i jahte, sagradio konjički centar i pretvorio svoje mjesto za odmor u austrijskom Veldenu u strogo čuvano sjedište svoje vlasti.

Forbes je 2017. procijenio kako Glock ima 65 posto tržišnog udjela pištolja prodanih u Sjedinjenim Državama. Četiri godine kasnije Forbes osobno bogatstvo Gastona Glocka procjenjuje na 1,1 milijardu dolara.

Glock nije uvijek poslovao čisto. Istrage korporativnih financijskih poslova tako su Glocka otkrile su globalni lanac lažnih tvrtki koje su skrivale prihode, prale dobit, umanjivale pravo stanje poreze, odbijale tužbe za odgovornost i plaćale kampanje političara i javnih dužnosnika. Neki dužnosnici tvrtke su procesuirani, no sam Gaston Glock nikada nije bio predmet sudskih procesa.

U 94. godini preminuo je Gaston Glock, tvorac (ne)slavnog istoimenog pištolja, omiljenog oružja snaga reda, kao i njihovih suparnika na drugoj strani zakona.

Glock 19, koji se proizvodi u austrijskom Deutsch-Wagramu, nažalost se u posljednjih dvadesetak godina profilirao i kao oružje psihopata koji neselektivno ubijaju po američkim noćnim klubovima, crkvama i školama. Njegovu vatrenu moć zloupotrijebio je i Seung-Hui Cho, koji je na sveučilištu Viriginia Tech 2007. usmrtio 33 osoba.

I dok je globalna popularnost pištolja, koji je pop kultura implementirala u svijest konzumenata diljem planeta, sve više rasla, svoj privatni život Gaston Glock uvijek se trudio držati dalje od očiju i ušiju javnosti.

New York Times navodi kako je tajnoviti milijarder živio na imanju uz jezero u Austriji, a u medijima se o njemu moglo nešto više pročitati tek tri puta; kada ga je poslovni suradnik pokušao ubiti, zatim 2011. kada se u 82. godini razveo od supruge i oženio 31-godišnjakinjom, te godinu dana kasnije 2012., kada je objavljena knjiga "Glock: The Rise of America‘s Gun", Paula M. Barretta.

Prije no što je njegov pištolj postao globalni fenomen, inženjer Glock upravljao je tvornicom hladnjaka za automobile u blizini Beča te sa suprugom vodio malu tvrtku koja je proizvodila šarke za vrata i noževe. Vatreno oružje posljednji je puta držao kada je na samom kraju 2. svjetskog rata kao tinejdžer bio unovačen u Hitlerovu vojsku.

No, 1980. Glock je slučajno načuo razgovor koji mu je promijenio život: dva časnika austrijske vojske razgovarali su o mogućnosti novog ugovora za državnu armiju.

Krenuo se više informirati o temi, razgovarao je s policajcima i stručnjacima za oružje. Ubrzo je dizajnirao i patentirao lagani 9-milimetarski poluautomatski pištolj, djelomično izrađen od čvrste plastike, koji je mogao brzo ispaliti 18 metaka i lako se ponovno napuniti streljivom.

Bio je to oružje dosadnog industrijskog izgleda, ali pritom jeftino za proizvodnju, precizno i pouzdano, spremno za paljbu čak i ako je natopljeno kišom.

Gaston Glock ubrzo je postao super uspješan trgovac, pogotovo u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama. Tamo se pojavio, za Glocka u najbolje vrijeme, sredinom 1980-ih, kada je stopa kriminala drastično porasla. Dvije trećine američkih policijskih snaga, uključujući i one u New Yorku, ubrzo su usvojile Glock 19.

Austrijski poduzetnik kasnije je osnovao je proizvodne pogone u SAD-u, Europi i Aziji. Kupovao je mlazne avione i jahte, sagradio konjički centar i pretvorio svoje mjesto za odmor u austrijskom Veldenu u strogo čuvano sjedište svoje vlasti.

Forbes je 2017. procijenio kako Glock ima 65 posto tržišnog udjela pištolja prodanih u Sjedinjenim Državama. Četiri godine kasnije Forbes osobno bogatstvo Gastona Glocka procjenjuje na 1,1 milijardu dolara.

Glock nije uvijek poslovao čisto. Istrage korporativnih financijskih poslova tako su Glocka otkrile su globalni lanac lažnih tvrtki koje su skrivale prihode, prale dobit, umanjivale pravo stanje poreze, odbijale tužbe za odgovornost i plaćale kampanje političara i javnih dužnosnika. U 94. godini preminuo je Gaston Glock, tvorac (ne)slavnog istoimenog pištolja, omiljenog oružja snaga reda, kao i njihovih suparnika na drugoj strani zakona.

Glock 19, koji se proizvodi u austrijskom Deutsch-Wagramu, nažalost se u posljednjih dvadesetak godina profilirao i kao oružje psihopata koji neselektivno ubijaju po američkim noćnim klubovima, crkvama i školama. Njegovu vatrenu moć zloupotrijebio je i Seung-Hui Cho, koji je na sveučilištu Viriginia Tech 2007. usmrtio 33 osoba.

I dok je globalna popularnost pištolja, koji je pop kultura implementirala u svijest konzumenata diljem planeta, sve više rasla, svoj privatni život Gaston Glock uvijek se trudio držati dalje od očiju i ušiju javnosti.

New York Times navodi kako je tajnoviti milijarder živio na imanju uz jezero u Austriji, a u medijima se o njemu moglo nešto više pročitati tek tri puta; kada ga je poslovni suradnik pokušao ubiti, zatim 2011. kada se u 82. godini razveo od supruge i oženio 31-godišnjakinjom, te godinu dana kasnije 2012., kada je objavljena knjiga "Glock: The Rise of America‘s Gun", Paula M. Barretta.
