Iako je prošlotjednim slanjem federalnih agenata u Portland predsjednik SAD-a Donald Trump želio okončati tamošnje prosvjede, čini se da je postigao suprotno – nemiri u Portlandu nastavili su se još većom žestinom, a prosvjedi su ponovno izbili i u 200 kilometara udaljenom Seattleu.

Štoviše, u Seattleu je preko vikenda bilo još žešće nego u Portlandu: kako je objavila gradska policija, u sukobima s prosvjednicima ozlijeđeno je najmanje 59 policijskih službenika, a istodobno je uhapšeno 47 prosvjednika.

Sukobi su započeli nakon što su prosvjednici u subotu bacili eksplozivnu napravu na policijsku stanicu na istoku grada. Nakon što je pala noć, sukobi su izbili na više lokacija širom Seattlea. Policija je koristila suzavac i gumene metke, dok su prosvjednici nasrtali kamenjem, bocama i drugim predmetima.

Oštećeno je više zgrada, a u neredima je spaljeno gradilište novog popravnog doma za maloljetnike. Zbog magnitude nasilja, policija Seattlea proglasila je "stanje nemira" u gradu.

Seattle je i tijekom lipnja bio poprište nekih od najburnijih demonstracija u Americi. Prosvjednici u Seattleu čak su na nekoliko tjedana zauzeli i kontrolirali centralnu gradsku četvrt Capitol Hill, proglasivši tamo Autonomnu zonu (CHAZ), odakle ih je policija rastjerala početkom srpnja, nakon nekoliko nerazjašnjenih ubojstava unutar Zone.

UN protiv Trumpa

Kako su objavili sami demonstranti, ovaj najnoviji val prosvjeda u Seattleu pokrenut je u znak solidarnosti s prosvjednicima u Portlandu, gdje je Trump prošlog tjedna poslao federalne snage, bez znanja gradonačelnika Portlanda Teda Wheelera i guvernerke države Oregon Kate Brown, koji su se oštro suprotstavili toj Trumpovoj akciji, tvrdeći da je nasilno ponašanje federalnih agenta – koji su noću hapsili i prosvjednike i prolaznike, te ih trpali u neoznačene kombije i privodili u zgradu federalnog suda – samo dodatno pogoršalo sigurnosnu situaciju u Portlandu.

Krajem prošlog tjedna čak je i UN-ov Ured za ljudska prava prozvao američke vlasti zbog takvog postupanja prema prosvjednicima, osudivši "samovoljna uhićenja i nepotrebnu uporabu sile".

"Mora se osigurati da se mirne demonstracije koje traju u više američkih gradova, kao što je Portland, mogu nastaviti bez da oni koji u njima sudjeluju riskiraju uhićenja ili privođenja, ili bivaju izloženi nepotrebnoj, prekomjernoj i neproporcionalnoj uporabi sile", poručio je UN-ov Ured za ljudska prava.

Trump je za nasilje u Portlandu optužio "anarhističke skupine", što ga je, po njegovim riječima, primoralo da u taj grad pošalje federalne snage. Lokalne vlasti u Portlandu iznose suprotni narativ, argumentirajući da je upravo dolazak federalnih trupa doveo do eskalacije nasilnih prosvjeda u Portlandu.

Bombe, rašpe, livorveri

I doista, najžešći prosvjedi u Portlandu zabilježeni su baš nakon dolaska federalnih agenata, s kulminacijom u subotu, kad su prosvjednici probili zaštitnu ogradu postavljenu ispred zgrade federalnog suda, glavnog poprišta demonstracija u tom gradu.

Prema objavi portlandske policije, tamošnji prosvjednici zadnjih su dana proširili arsenal sredstava koja koriste u noćnim sukobima s policajcima i federalnim agentima: spominju se električne pile, reflektori, laseri, sprejevi, puhači lišća i razne vrste projektila, od staklenih boca do kugličnih ležajeva.

Na objavljenim snimkama se, među ostalim, vidi skupina maskiranih aktivista sa šljemovima, koji štitovima podržavaju jednog od prosvjednika dok on električnom pilom rastavlja ogradu kojom je zaštićen opkoljeni federalni sud.

Policija se žali da demonstranti koriste reflektore i lasere kako bi zaslijepili i dezorijentirali policajce i federalne agente. New York Post prenio je izjavu anonimnog izvora iz Bijele kuće, prema kojoj su tri savezna agenta "vjerojatno trajno oslijepljeni" laserima tijekom sukoba s demonstrantima u Portlandu.

Među najbizarnijim sredstvima koja koriste portlandski prosvjednici svakako su – puhači lišća. Riječ je o vrtlarskom alatu koji demonstranti koriste kako bi otpuhali policijske suzavce natrag prema policajcima i saveznim agentima.

Za razumijevanje prosvjeda u Portlandu i Seattleu bitno je znati da oba grada predstavljaju povijesna žarišta radikalne američke ljevice, pa je među tamošnjim prosvjednicima, u odnosu na druge američke gradove, veći udio anarhista i anarhokomunista. Dok se većina američkih prosvjednika fokusira na problem rasizma, demonstranti u Seattleu i Portlandu rasizam smatraju samo dijelom strukturne nepravde kapitalističkog društva, te prvenstveno adresiraju klasno pitanje.

Iako je prošlotjednim slanjem federalnih agenata u Portland predsjednik SAD-a Donald Trump želio okončati tamošnje prosvjede, čini se da je postigao suprotno – nemiri u Portlandu nastavili su se još većom žestinom, a prosvjedi su ponovno izbili i u 200 kilometara udaljenom Seattleu.

Štoviše, u Seattleu je preko vikenda bilo još žešće nego u Portlandu: kako je objavila gradska policija, u sukobima s prosvjednicima ozlijeđeno je najmanje 59 policijskih službenika, a istodobno je uhapšeno 47 prosvjednika.

Sukobi su započeli nakon što su prosvjednici u subotu bacili eksplozivnu napravu na policijsku stanicu na istoku grada. Nakon što je pala noć, sukobi su izbili na više lokacija širom Seattlea. Policija je koristila suzavac i gumene metke, dok su prosvjednici nasrtali kamenjem, bocama i drugim predmetima.

Oštećeno je više zgrada, a u neredima je spaljeno gradilište novog popravnog doma za maloljetnike. Zbog magnitude nasilja, policija Seattlea proglasila je "stanje nemira" u gradu.

Seattle je i tijekom lipnja bio poprište nekih od najburnijih demonstracija u Americi. Prosvjednici u Seattleu čak su na nekoliko tjedana zauzeli i kontrolirali centralnu gradsku četvrt Capitol Hill, proglasivši tamo Autonomnu zonu (CHAZ), odakle ih je policija rastjerala početkom srpnja, nakon nekoliko nerazjašnjenih ubojstava unutar Zone.

UN protiv Trumpa

Kako su objavili sami demonstranti, ovaj najnoviji val prosvjeda u Seattleu pokrenut je u znak solidarnosti s prosvjednicima u Portlandu, gdje je Trump prošlog tjedna poslao federalne snage, bez znanja gradonačelnika Portlanda Teda Wheelera i guvernerke države Oregon Kate Brown, koji su se oštro suprotstavili toj Trumpovoj akciji, tvrdeći da je nasilno ponašanje federalnih agenta – koji su noću hapsili i prosvjednike i prolaznike, te ih trpali u neoznačene kombije i privodili u zgradu federalnog suda – samo dodatno pogoršalo sigurnosnu situaciju u Portlandu.

Krajem prošlog tjedna čak je i UN-ov Ured za ljudska prava prozvao američke vlasti zbog takvog postupanja prema prosvjednicima, osudivši "samovoljna uhićenja i nepotrebnu uporabu sile".

"Mora se osigurati da se mirne demonstracije koje traju u više američkih gradova, kao što je Portland, mogu nastaviti bez da oni koji u njima sudjeluju riskiraju uhićenja ili privođenja, ili bivaju izloženi nepotrebnoj, prekomjernoj i neproporcionalnoj uporabi sile", poručio je UN-ov Ured za ljudska prava.

Trump je za nasilje u Portlandu optužio "anarhističke skupine", što ga je, po njegovim riječima, primoralo da u taj grad pošalje federalne snage. Lokalne vlasti u Portlandu iznose suprotni narativ, argumentirajući da je upravo dolazak federalnih trupa doveo do eskalacije nasilnih prosvjeda u Portlandu.

Bombe, rašpe, livorveri

I doista, najžešći prosvjedi u Portlandu zabilježeni su baš nakon dolaska federalnih agenata, s kulminacijom u subotu, kad su prosvjednici probili zaštitnu ogradu postavljenu ispred zgrade federalnog suda, glavnog poprišta demonstracija u tom gradu.

Prema objavi portlandske policije, tamošnji prosvjednici zadnjih su dana proširili arsenal sredstava koja koriste u noćnim sukobima s policajcima i federalnim agentima: spominju se električne pile, reflektori, laseri, sprejevi, puhači lišća i razne vrste projektila, od staklenih boca do kugličnih ležajeva.

Na objavljenim snimkama se, među ostalim, vidi skupina maskiranih aktivista sa šljemovima, koji štitovima podržavaju jednog od prosvjednika dok on električnom pilom rastavlja ogradu kojom je zaštićen opkoljeni federalni sud.

Policija se žali da demonstranti koriste reflektore i lasere kako bi zaslijepili i dezorijentirali policajce i federalne agente. New York Post prenio je izjavu anonimnog izvora iz Bijele kuće, prema kojoj su tri savezna agenta "vjerojatno trajno oslijepljeni" laserima tijekom sukoba s demonstrantima u Portlandu.

Među najbizarnijim sredstvima koja koriste portlandski prosvjednici svakako su – puhači lišća. Riječ je o vrtlarskom alatu koji demonstranti koriste kako bi otpuhali policijske suzavce natrag prema policajcima i saveznim agentima.

Za razumijevanje prosvjeda u Portlandu i Seattleu bitno je znati da oba grada predstavljaju povijesna žarišta radikalne američke ljevice, pa je među tamošnjim prosvjednicima, u odnosu na druge američke gradove, veći udio anarhista i anarhokomunista. Dok se većina američkih prosvjednika fokusira na problem rasizma, demonstranti u Seattleu i Portlandu rasizam smatraju samo dijelom strukturne nepravde kapitalističkog društva, te prvenstveno adresiraju klasno pitanje.
