Aktivisti i ekolozi na Kanarskom otočju upozoravaju da je tamošnje lokalno stanovništvo prisiljeno živjeti u svojim automobilima, pa čak i u špiljama, zbog utjecaja velikih turističkih operatera koji ‘gutaju otok‘, piše Daily mail.
To je posljednja u nizu alarmantnih izjava aktivista uoči masovnih prosvjeda protiv turizma na otocima Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote i La Palma. Prosvjedi bi se trebali održati 20. travnja.
U međuvremenu, stanovnici Kanara pribjegavaju očajničkim mjerama kako bi ograničili broj turista koji posjećuju lokalne ljepote, pa tako ispisuju grafite protiv turizma i postavljaju lažne natpise kako bi otjerali turiste.
Ivan Cerdena Molina, aktivist koji radi s Udrugom prijatelja prirode Tenerife je rekao da nema ništa protiv pojedinačnih turista, no ta industrija raste i troši toliko resursa da se otok ne može nositi s tim.

Dodaju da mnogim lokalcima postaje nemoguće doći do pristupačnog smještaja zbog vrtoglavog skoka cijena nekretnina koje pokreće turizam.

- Sadašnji je model uništio kvalitetu života na Kanarskim otocima i one razloge koji su otoke činili jedinstvenima: našu biološku raznolikost, naše krajolike, ljude, identitet... Potrebno je odmah djelovati kako bi se model masovnog turizma promijenio na model koji se temelji na održivom suživotu turističke industrije s općom dobrobiti stanovništva.

Naposljetku zahtijevaju smanjenje turističkog pritiska u zaštićenim prirodnim prostorima kako bi se izbjeglo propadanje okoliša kakvo se sada događa.

Aktivisti i ekolozi na Kanarskom otočju upozoravaju da je tamošnje lokalno stanovništvo prisiljeno živjeti u svojim automobilima, pa čak i u špiljama, zbog utjecaja velikih turističkih operatera koji ‘gutaju otok‘, piše Daily mail.
To je posljednja u nizu alarmantnih izjava aktivista uoči masovnih prosvjeda protiv turizma na otocima Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote i La Palma. Prosvjedi bi se trebali održati 20. travnja.
U međuvremenu, stanovnici Kanara pribjegavaju očajničkim mjerama kako bi ograničili broj turista koji posjećuju lokalne ljepote, pa tako ispisuju grafite protiv turizma i postavljaju lažne natpise kako bi otjerali turiste.
Ivan Cerdena Molina, aktivist koji radi s Udrugom prijatelja prirode Tenerife je rekao da nema ništa protiv pojedinačnih turista, no ta industrija raste i troši toliko resursa da se otok ne može nositi s tim.

Skupina ‘Kanarski otoci su iscrpljeni‘ jedan je od glavnih pokretača prosvjeda.
- Vrijeme je za bojkot turističke aktivnosti koja nas tjera s vlastite zemlje, napisali su organizatori prosvjeda na društvenim mrežama.
Dodaju da mnogim lokalcima postaje nemoguće doći do pristupačnog smještaja zbog vrtoglavog skoka cijena nekretnina koje pokreće turizam.
U međuvremenu, dramatičan priljev turista je navodno doveo do zagušenja zdravstvenih usluga, kolapsa sustava gospodarenja otpadom, nedostatka vode za potrošnju i poljoprivredni sektor, prenapučenosti zaštićenih prostora, porasta kriminala i gubitka bioraznolikosti...
- Sadašnji je model uništio kvalitetu života na Kanarskim otocima i one razloge koji su otoke činili jedinstvenima: našu biološku raznolikost, naše krajolike, ljude, identitet... Potrebno je odmah djelovati kako bi se model masovnog turizma promijenio na model koji se temelji na održivom suživotu turističke industrije s općom dobrobiti stanovništva.

Naposljetku zahtijevaju smanjenje turističkog pritiska u zaštićenim prirodnim prostorima kako bi se izbjeglo propadanje okoliša kakvo se sada događa.
No vlada upozorava da se gospodarstvo velikim dijelom oslanja na turizam.
Predsjednica Vijeća Tenerifa Rosa Davila je prošlog tjedna rekla da je vijeće spremno raditi s aktivistima na reformi onoga što bi se moglo poboljšati unutar turističke industrije, no kaže da su njezini dužnosnici daleko od onih koji imaju glavne pozicije.
- Kad se razvija ekonomski model, mora se paziti i pratiti poboljšanje kvalitete života društva. To ne podrazumijeva demontiranje cijelog ekonomskog modela koji značajno doprinosi BDP-u i radnim mjestima koja se stvaraju na Kanarskim otocima, a koja su izravno ili neizravno povezani s podsektorom turizma, rekla je.
