Britanski premijer David Cameron zanijekao je da je pogodovao poslovnim interesima Ruperta Murdocha u zamjenu za političku podršku njegovog medijskog imperija.

Cameron uoči lokalnih izbora, koji će se u velikom dijelu Britanije održati u četvrtak zaostaje za svojim političkim konkurentima. Nakon mjesec dana loših naslova u vezi s Murodchom, proračunom i povratkom gospodarstva u recesiju, potpora njegovoj konzervativnoj stranci, je, po ispitivanjima javnih mišljenja, najniža od 2004. godine.

U razgovoru za televiziju u nedjelju Cameron je rekao da nije bilo dogovora s Murdochom da se prihvati pokušaj Murdochovog NewsCorpa da preuzme najveću britansku satelitsku televizijsku kompaniju BSkyB u zamjenu za potporu na izborima 2010. koji su Camerona doveli na vlast.

"Zamisao nekakve velike pogodbe između mene i Ruperta Murdocha nije istinita", rekao je Cameron BBC-u. "Ne činim stvari ili mijenjam svoje politike kako bi odgovarale ovom ili onom poduzetniku. To nije način na koji radim i reći ću to i pod zaketvom".

Nekada bliske veze između Murdocha i britanske vlade otkrila je istraga o prisluškivanjima telefona koja su počinili djelatnici Murdochovih novina. Savjetnik Jeremy Hunta, ministra kultura i medija, koji je nadgledao posao oko BSkyB-a dok se Murdoch nije u srpnju iz njega povukao, u srijedu je dao ostavku nakon što su se pojavili poruke elektronske pošte koje pokazuju da je u vezi s tim poslom bio u bliskom kontaktu s NewsCorpom.

Britanski premijer David Cameron zanijekao je da je pogodovao poslovnim interesima Ruperta Murdocha u zamjenu za političku podršku njegovog medijskog imperija.

Cameron uoči lokalnih izbora, koji će se u velikom dijelu Britanije održati u četvrtak zaostaje za svojim političkim konkurentima. Nakon mjesec dana loših naslova u vezi s Murodchom, proračunom i povratkom gospodarstva u recesiju, potpora njegovoj konzervativnoj stranci, je, po ispitivanjima javnih mišljenja, najniža od 2004. godine.

U razgovoru za televiziju u nedjelju Cameron je rekao da nije bilo dogovora s Murdochom da se prihvati pokušaj Murdochovog NewsCorpa da preuzme najveću britansku satelitsku televizijsku kompaniju BSkyB u zamjenu za potporu na izborima 2010. koji su Camerona doveli na vlast.

"Zamisao nekakve velike pogodbe između mene i Ruperta Murdocha nije istinita", rekao je Cameron BBC-u. "Ne činim stvari ili mijenjam svoje politike kako bi odgovarale ovom ili onom poduzetniku. To nije način na koji radim i reći ću to i pod zaketvom".

Nekada bliske veze između Murdocha i britanske vlade otkrila je istraga o prisluškivanjima telefona koja su počinili djelatnici Murdochovih novina. Savjetnik Jeremy Hunta, ministra kultura i medija, koji je nadgledao posao oko BSkyB-a dok se Murdoch nije u srpnju iz njega povukao, u srijedu je dao ostavku nakon što su se pojavili poruke elektronske pošte koje pokazuju da je u vezi s tim poslom bio u bliskom kontaktu s NewsCorpom.
