Utemeljitelj Microsofta, američki filantrop Bill Gates u četvrtak će najaviti 120 milijuna dolara pomoći za sigurnost hrane u Africi te Indiji, objavila je jedna afrička organizacija.

Bill Gates će inicijativu osobno objaviti na simpoziju Svjetska nagrada za hranu u Des Moinesu (američka država Iowa), koja će se održati u uoči Svjetskog dana hrane 16. listopada.

Gatesova zaklada financirat će projekte za poljoprivredni razvoj u ukupnom iznosu od 120 miljuna dolara kako bi se pronašlo dugoročno rješenje za sigurnost hrane, objavila je organizacija Savez za zelenu revoluciju Afrike (AGRA).

Kao jedna od korisnica pomoći AGRA će dobiti 15 milijuna dolara za razvoj poljoprivrede u pet afričkih zemalja: Etiopiji, Gani, Maliju, Mozambiku i Tanzaniji.

UN je u najnovijem izvješću predstavljenom u povodu Svjetskog dana hrane objavio da je broj gladnih nadmašio milijardu ljudi, što je najviša brojka u zadnjih 40 godina.

Zaklada Billa Gatesa, najbogatijeg čovjeka na svijetu, ima proračun od 3,8 milijardi dolara samo za 2009. godinu.

"Za razliku od drugih, afrički poljoprivrednici, a to su uglavnom žene, ne primaju baš nikakvu potporu svoje vlade", podsjetio je Kofi Annan, predsjednik Vijeća AGRA-e i bivši glavni tajnik UN-a.

Drugi projekti koje će financirati Gatesova zaklada odnose se na Keniju, Malavi, Zambiju, Ugandu te Indiju.

Utemeljitelj Microsofta, američki filantrop Bill Gates u četvrtak će najaviti 120 milijuna dolara pomoći za sigurnost hrane u Africi te Indiji, objavila je jedna afrička organizacija.

Bill Gates će inicijativu osobno objaviti na simpoziju Svjetska nagrada za hranu u Des Moinesu (američka država Iowa), koja će se održati u uoči Svjetskog dana hrane 16. listopada.

Gatesova zaklada financirat će projekte za poljoprivredni razvoj u ukupnom iznosu od 120 miljuna dolara kako bi se pronašlo dugoročno rješenje za sigurnost hrane, objavila je organizacija Savez za zelenu revoluciju Afrike (AGRA).

Kao jedna od korisnica pomoći AGRA će dobiti 15 milijuna dolara za razvoj poljoprivrede u pet afričkih zemalja: Etiopiji, Gani, Maliju, Mozambiku i Tanzaniji.

UN je u najnovijem izvješću predstavljenom u povodu Svjetskog dana hrane objavio da je broj gladnih nadmašio milijardu ljudi, što je najviša brojka u zadnjih 40 godina.

Zaklada Billa Gatesa, najbogatijeg čovjeka na svijetu, ima proračun od 3,8 milijardi dolara samo za 2009. godinu.

"Za razliku od drugih, afrički poljoprivrednici, a to su uglavnom žene, ne primaju baš nikakvu potporu svoje vlade", podsjetio je Kofi Annan, predsjednik Vijeća AGRA-e i bivši glavni tajnik UN-a.

Drugi projekti koje će financirati Gatesova zaklada odnose se na Keniju, Malavi, Zambiju, Ugandu te Indiju.
