Jeste li znali da svatko od nas u džepu svakodnevno nosi minijaturni seizmograf? Do petka navečer i pomicanja tla s epicentrom u Hercegovini mnogi toga uopće nisu bili svjesni.

Potres u BiH otkrio je domaćoj javnosti vrlo korisnu funkciju koju odnedavno i kod nas imaju pametni telefoni s operativnim sustavom Android: upozorenje na potrese nekoliko sekundi prije najjačega udara. Mnoštvo korisnika Androida u Hrvatskoj, BiH i Crnoj Gori ostalo je zaprepašteno kad su na mobilni telefon dobili obavijest da se pripreme na potres desetak sekundi prije nego što su osjetili njegove vibracije. Nemali broj ljudi inicijalno je pomislio da se radi o nekakvome podmetanju ili lažnom uzbunjivanju, no ubrzo su se uvjerili da uopće nije tako.

Android upozorenja na potres

Riječ je o pilot programu Googlea koji je u nekim svjetskim zonama aktiviran još 2020. godine, da bi u našim krajevima očito postao funkcionalan tek odnedavno. Inovacija je razvijena u suradnji s američkim Geološkim zavodom i njihovim programom ShakeAlert, kojega SAD projektira još od davne 2006. godine.

Želeći postaviti sustav praćenja i javnoga uzbunjivanja na tektonske pomake tla na svojoj Zapadnoj obali, gdje su zbog rasjeda San Andreas i zone Cascadia američka područja s najizraženijim seizmičkim rizikom, znanstvenici u SAD-u su počeli s implementacijom zemaljske mreže koja ne predviđa potrese (jer je to nemoguće) nego tek pokušava brzo identificirati seizmički događaj te alarmirati građane prije nego njegove udarne vibracije ne zahvate punu širinu. Model su postavili prvo sofverskom detekcijom brzih (ali snagom slabih) tzv. P valova potresa, potom brzim izračunima približne lokacije epicentra i procijenjenom magnitudom, nakon čega se moglo pristupiti odašiljanju alarma.

Sklanjanje pod čvršće pregrade 

Ovisno o udaljenosti od epicentra, upozorenje može stići do mnogih prije nego što se destruktivni potresni valovi, koji su sporiji, protegnu do rubova zone zahvata. To omogućava brojnim ljudima najnužnije vrijeme za elementarne zaštitne radnje: sklanjanje pod čvršće pregrade, gašenje radne opreme ili strojeva te zaustavljanje tranzita, a vatrogascima i zdravstvenim službama omogućava uzbune i pokretanje specifičnih interventnih protokola. Američki znanstvenici u početku su se u razvoju ovoga programa striktno oslanjali na čvrste seizmičke postaje i gustu mrežu zemaljskih seizmografa, slično japanskome modelu koji građane u Zemlji izlazećeg sunca odavno upozorava na potencijalnu opasnost od tsunamija.

Pravu revoluciju sustav je doživio negdje 2018., kad se netko sjetio da se milijunima pametnih telefona u džepovima građana zapravo može dopuniti mreža profesionalnih seizmografa i seizmičkih postaja, ili je njima zamijeniti tamo gdje uopće ne postoji. Zahvaljujući malim akcelerometrima koji u našim mobitelima detektiraju kretanje, kao i milijunima vlasnika Androida u cijelome svijetu, otpočelo je zapravo stvaranje najveće globalne mreže za ranu detekciju i slanje upozorenja od potresa.

Sve se odvija svjetlosnom brzinom 

Android smartphone putem istog onog mjernog sklopa kojim bilježi vašu dnevnu aktivnost ili prijeđene korake registrira i tektonsko pokretanje zemljina tla: kad u Googleov sustav poslužitelja istodobno dospiju informacije o tisućama ili desecima tisuća takvih registriranih drhtaja na mobitelima nekog područja, automatski se aktivira sustav upozorenja na potres svim vlasnicima androida u okolici. Praktično, ako telefon svojim akceleratorom otkrije nešto za što procijeni da bi mogao biti potres, šalje signal o tome Googleovom serveru za otkrivanje potresa, zajedno s grubom lokacijom. Poslužitelj zatim komparira i zbraja informacije s mnogih telefona u okolici kako bi postavio konačnu dijagnozu je li stvarno riječ o potresu ili o lažnoj dojavi. Sve se to, naravno, odvija svjetlosnom brzinom, kojom se zapravo razmjenjuju informacije s naših telefona. A ona je, na sreću mnogih, puno veća od brzine širenja potresnih valova u zemljinoj kori.

Androidova platforma za pomoć u detekciji potresa može djelovati bilo gdje u svijetu, i bez prateće seizmološke infrastrukture, što je čini potencijalnim spasom za mnoge i revolucionarnom zamjenom za državne sustave uzbunjivanja koji u brojnim siromašnim zemljama uopće ne postoje.

Procedura pokretanja toga sustava, ako imate mobitel utemeljen na Androidu, više je nego jednostavna - potrebno je otići u postavke mobitela, odabrati lokaciju i usluge detekcije lokacije, te naposlijetku i mogućnost primanja 'upozorenja o potresu'. Ova revolucionarna usluga nije stakleno zvono pod koje se možete skloniti od elementarne nepogode, no mnogima može doslovno spasiti život. Oni koji je smatraju nepotrebnim uznemiravanjem moraju znati da upozorenje na potres na vašem smartphoneu nećete dobiti ako se nalazite izvan zone potencijalne potresne opasnosti.

Jeste li znali da svatko od nas u džepu svakodnevno nosi minijaturni seizmograf? Do petka navečer i pomicanja tla s epicentrom u Hercegovini mnogi toga uopće nisu bili svjesni.

Potres u BiH otkrio je domaćoj javnosti vrlo korisnu funkciju koju odnedavno i kod nas imaju pametni telefoni s operativnim sustavom Android: upozorenje na potrese nekoliko sekundi prije najjačega udara. Mnoštvo korisnika Androida u Hrvatskoj, BiH i Crnoj Gori ostalo je zaprepašteno kad su na mobilni telefon dobili obavijest da se pripreme na potres desetak sekundi prije nego što su osjetili njegove vibracije. Nemali broj ljudi inicijalno je pomislio da se radi o nekakvome podmetanju ili lažnom uzbunjivanju, no ubrzo su se uvjerili da uopće nije tako.

Riječ je o pilot programu Googlea koji je u nekim svjetskim zonama aktiviran još 2020. godine, da bi u našim krajevima očito postao funkcionalan tek odnedavno. Inovacija je razvijena u suradnji s američkim Geološkim zavodom i njihovim programom ShakeAlert, kojega SAD projektira još od davne 2006. godine.

Želeći postaviti sustav praćenja i javnoga uzbunjivanja na tektonske pomake tla na svojoj Zapadnoj obali, gdje su zbog rasjeda San Andreas i zone Cascadia američka područja s najizraženijim seizmičkim rizikom, znanstvenici u SAD-u su počeli s implementacijom zemaljske mreže koja ne predviđa potrese (jer je to nemoguće) nego tek pokušava brzo identificirati seizmički događaj te alarmirati građane prije nego njegove udarne vibracije ne zahvate punu širinu. Model su postavili prvo sofverskom detekcijom brzih (ali snagom slabih) tzv. P valova potresa, potom brzim izračunima približne lokacije epicentra i procijenjenom magnitudom, nakon čega se moglo pristupiti odašiljanju alarma.

Sklanjanje pod čvršće pregrade 

Ovisno o udaljenosti od epicentra, upozorenje može stići do mnogih prije nego što se destruktivni potresni valovi, koji su sporiji, protegnu do rubova zone zahvata. To omogućava brojnim ljudima najnužnije vrijeme za elementarne zaštitne radnje: sklanjanje pod čvršće pregrade, gašenje radne opreme ili strojeva te zaustavljanje tranzita, a vatrogascima i zdravstvenim službama omogućava uzbune i pokretanje specifičnih interventnih protokola. Američki znanstvenici u početku su se u razvoju ovoga programa striktno oslanjali na čvrste seizmičke postaje i gustu mrežu zemaljskih seizmografa, slično japanskome modelu koji građane u Zemlji izlazećeg sunca odavno upozorava na potencijalnu opasnost od tsunamija.

Pravu revoluciju sustav je doživio negdje 2018., kad se netko sjetio da se milijunima pametnih telefona u džepovima građana zapravo može dopuniti mreža profesionalnih seizmografa i seizmičkih postaja, ili je njima zamijeniti tamo gdje uopće ne postoji. Zahvaljujući malim akcelerometrima koji u našim mobitelima detektiraju kretanje, kao i milijunima vlasnika Androida u cijelome svijetu, otpočelo je zapravo stvaranje najveće globalne mreže za ranu detekciju i slanje upozorenja od potresa.

Sve se odvija svjetlosnom brzinom 

Android smartphone putem istog onog mjernog sklopa kojim bilježi vašu dnevnu aktivnost ili prijeđene korake registrira i tektonsko pokretanje zemljina tla: kad u Googleov sustav poslužitelja istodobno dospiju informacije o tisućama ili desecima tisuća takvih registriranih drhtaja na mobitelima nekog područja, automatski se aktivira sustav upozorenja na potres svim vlasnicima androida u okolici. Praktično, ako telefon svojim akceleratorom otkrije nešto za što procijeni da bi mogao biti potres, šalje signal o tome Googleovom serveru za otkrivanje potresa, zajedno s grubom lokacijom. Poslužitelj zatim komparira i zbraja informacije s mnogih telefona u okolici kako bi postavio konačnu dijagnozu je li stvarno riječ o potresu ili o lažnoj dojavi. Sve se to, naravno, odvija svjetlosnom brzinom, kojom se zapravo razmjenjuju informacije s naših telefona. A ona je, na sreću mnogih, puno veća od brzine širenja potresnih valova u zemljinoj kori.

Androidova platforma za pomoć u detekciji potresa može djelovati bilo gdje u svijetu, i bez prateće seizmološke infrastrukture, što je čini potencijalnim spasom za mnoge i revolucionarnom zamjenom za državne sustave uzbunjivanja koji u brojnim siromašnim zemljama uopće ne postoje.

Procedura pokretanja toga sustava, ako imate mobitel utemeljen na Androidu, više je nego jednostavna - potrebno je otići u postavke mobitela, odabrati lokaciju i usluge detekcije lokacije, te naposlijetku i mogućnost primanja 'upozorenja o potresu'. Ova revolucionarna usluga nije stakleno zvono pod koje se možete skloniti od elementarne nepogode, no mnogima može doslovno spasiti život. Oni koji je smatraju nepotrebnim uznemiravanjem moraju znati da upozorenje na potres na vašem smartphoneu nećete dobiti ako se nalazite izvan zone potencijalne potresne opasnosti.
