U povodu Svjetskog dana glaukoma, koji se obilježava 12. ožujka, danas je hrvatski ministar zdravlja Rajko Ostojić podsjetio na nužnost prevencije jer pravovremenim prepoznavanjem bolesti i ispravnim liječenjem, bolest ne dovodi do sljepoće.
Upozorio je da se opasnost glaukoma krije u činjenici da se razvija u tišini, bez ikakvih simptoma. Povišeni očni tlak ne uzrokuje bol niti druge probleme, pa čovjek posumnja na bolest tek kada počne gubiti vid. Da bi se adekvatno liječio, glaukom je potrebno otkriti što ranije kako bi se usporilo i spriječilo napredovanje bolesti. Stoga, ističe ministar Ostojić u povodu Svjetskog dana glaukoma, koristim ovaj dan da podsjetim na nužnost prevencije jer pravovremenim prepoznavanjem bolesti i ispravnim liječenjem, bolest ne dovodi do sljepoće.
U tekstu objavljenom na internetskoj stranici Ministarstva zdravlja, ministar Rajko Ostojić napomenuo je da je u današnje vrijeme teško sačuvati dobar vid jer je izloženost štetnim tvarima veća no ikada.
"U današnje je vrijeme teško sačuvati dobar vid jer je izloženost štetnim tvarima veća no ikada - od prečestog i dugotrajnog gledanja u ekran, primjerice za one koji rade na računalu, do štetnog utjecaja ultraljubičastih sunčevih zraka. S druge strane, prehrana je danas neprimjerena pa se na jelovniku nedovoljno često nađu namirnice koje 'hrane' zdravlje očiju."
Svjetski dan glaukoma obilježava se na inicijativu Svjetske glaukomske organizacije i Svjetske organizacije pacijenata oboljelih od glaukoma, s ciljem da se što više podigne svijest ljudi o toj bolesti.
Po podacima Zavoda za javno zdravstvo "Dr. Andrija Štampar", svaki drugi Hrvat ima problema s vidom. Čak 65 milijuna ljudi u svijetu boluje od glaukoma, a 4,5 milijuna ih je zbog bolesti oslijepilo.

U povodu Svjetskog dana glaukoma, koji se obilježava 12. ožujka, danas je hrvatski ministar zdravlja Rajko Ostojić podsjetio na nužnost prevencije jer pravovremenim prepoznavanjem bolesti i ispravnim liječenjem, bolest ne dovodi do sljepoće.
Upozorio je da se opasnost glaukoma krije u činjenici da se razvija u tišini, bez ikakvih simptoma. Povišeni očni tlak ne uzrokuje bol niti druge probleme, pa čovjek posumnja na bolest tek kada počne gubiti vid. Da bi se adekvatno liječio, glaukom je potrebno otkriti što ranije kako bi se usporilo i spriječilo napredovanje bolesti. Stoga, ističe ministar Ostojić u povodu Svjetskog dana glaukoma, koristim ovaj dan da podsjetim na nužnost prevencije jer pravovremenim prepoznavanjem bolesti i ispravnim liječenjem, bolest ne dovodi do sljepoće.
U tekstu objavljenom na internetskoj stranici Ministarstva zdravlja, ministar Rajko Ostojić napomenuo je da je u današnje vrijeme teško sačuvati dobar vid jer je izloženost štetnim tvarima veća no ikada.
"U današnje je vrijeme teško sačuvati dobar vid jer je izloženost štetnim tvarima veća no ikada - od prečestog i dugotrajnog gledanja u ekran, primjerice za one koji rade na računalu, do štetnog utjecaja ultraljubičastih sunčevih zraka. S druge strane, prehrana je danas neprimjerena pa se na jelovniku nedovoljno često nađu namirnice koje 'hrane' zdravlje očiju."
Svjetski dan glaukoma obilježava se na inicijativu Svjetske glaukomske organizacije i Svjetske organizacije pacijenata oboljelih od glaukoma, s ciljem da se što više podigne svijest ljudi o toj bolesti.
Po podacima Zavoda za javno zdravstvo "Dr. Andrija Štampar", svaki drugi Hrvat ima problema s vidom. Čak 65 milijuna ljudi u svijetu boluje od glaukoma, a 4,5 milijuna ih je zbog bolesti oslijepilo.
