Hrvatski tenisač Ivo Karlović poražen je u četvrtfinalu zagrebačkog ATP turnira PBZ Zagreb Indoorsa. Bolji od "diva sa Šalate" bio je Rus Mihail Južnij sa 7-6(10), 3-6, 7-6(6).
Iako je Karlović igrao jedan od najboljih mečeva svoje karijere, ipak je na kraju pognute glave napustio veliku dvoranu Doma sportova. Rus Južnij ga je uništio njegovim oružjem (tie-break), a u tome mu je u svakom setu malo pripomogao i naš tenisač.
Karlović je u prvom setu, nakon što je napravio break u 5. gemu, imao servis za set, ali je odigrao najlošiji servis-gem meča i ispustio priliku povesti 1-0. Set je otišao u tie-break u kojem je naš tenisač imao četiri set lopte od čega je jedna bila na njegovom servisu (6-4), ali ni to nije bilo dovoljno da zaključi prvu dionicu u svoju korist. Rus je na kraju slavio sa 12-10.
U drugom setu su obojica tenisača držala svoj servis vrlo uvjerljivo do sedmog gema kada je Karlović napravio break i osigurao si servis za set. Ovog puta je bio nepogrešiv te je odveo meč u odlučujući set.
Tamo je Južnij u osmom gemu imao priliku završiti susret kada je na servisu našeg tenisača imao 15-40, ali je Karlović to s dva prva servisa riješio i okrenuo u svoju korist. Uzbuđenja do kraja seta više nije bilo i meč je otišao u drugi tie-break.
Južnij je već u drugom poenu napravio mini-break koji je potom izgubio u petom, ali ga ponovno vratio u šestom poenu (4-2). Osigurao si je nakon toga svojim servisom tri set lopte (6-3), ali se Karlović uspješno vratio do 6-6 spasivši treću meč loptu na servisu Rusa. Južnij u sljedećem servisu udara as i osigurava novu meč loptu, koju nakon Karlovićeva promašaja volejem i koristi.
Bio je to treći susret njih dvojice i treća pobjeda ruskog tenisača. Južnija u polufinalu očekuje dvoboj protiv "kralja" PBZ Zagreb Indoorsa, Nijemca Michaela Berrera.
Nesalomljivi Berrer još se jednom pokazao kao nepobjediv (barem do finala), ovog puta za Austrijanca Jürgena Melzera kojeg su svi vidjeli kao velikog favorita u tom susretu.
Nijemac se nakon gubitka prvog seta (7-5) vratio s dva uzastopna osvojena te je na kraju slavio sa 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.

Hrvatski tenisač Ivo Karlović poražen je u četvrtfinalu zagrebačkog ATP turnira PBZ Zagreb Indoorsa. Bolji od "diva sa Šalate" bio je Rus Mihail Južnij sa 7-6(10), 3-6, 7-6(6).
Iako je Karlović igrao jedan od najboljih mečeva svoje karijere, ipak je na kraju pognute glave napustio veliku dvoranu Doma sportova. Rus Južnij ga je uništio njegovim oružjem (tie-break), a u tome mu je u svakom setu malo pripomogao i naš tenisač.
Karlović je u prvom setu, nakon što je napravio break u 5. gemu, imao servis za set, ali je odigrao najlošiji servis-gem meča i ispustio priliku povesti 1-0. Set je otišao u tie-break u kojem je naš tenisač imao četiri set lopte od čega je jedna bila na njegovom servisu (6-4), ali ni to nije bilo dovoljno da zaključi prvu dionicu u svoju korist. Rus je na kraju slavio sa 12-10.
U drugom setu su obojica tenisača držala svoj servis vrlo uvjerljivo do sedmog gema kada je Karlović napravio break i osigurao si servis za set. Ovog puta je bio nepogrešiv te je odveo meč u odlučujući set.
Tamo je Južnij u osmom gemu imao priliku završiti susret kada je na servisu našeg tenisača imao 15-40, ali je Karlović to s dva prva servisa riješio i okrenuo u svoju korist. Uzbuđenja do kraja seta više nije bilo i meč je otišao u drugi tie-break.
Južnij je već u drugom poenu napravio mini-break koji je potom izgubio u petom, ali ga ponovno vratio u šestom poenu (4-2). Osigurao si je nakon toga svojim servisom tri set lopte (6-3), ali se Karlović uspješno vratio do 6-6 spasivši treću meč loptu na servisu Rusa. Južnij u sljedećem servisu udara as i osigurava novu meč loptu, koju nakon Karlovićeva promašaja volejem i koristi.
Bio je to treći susret njih dvojice i treća pobjeda ruskog tenisača. Južnija u polufinalu očekuje dvoboj protiv "kralja" PBZ Zagreb Indoorsa, Nijemca Michaela Berrera.
Nesalomljivi Berrer još se jednom pokazao kao nepobjediv (barem do finala), ovog puta za Austrijanca Jürgena Melzera kojeg su svi vidjeli kao velikog favorita u tom susretu.
Nijemac se nakon gubitka prvog seta (7-5) vratio s dva uzastopna osvojena te je na kraju slavio sa 5-7, 6-4, 6-4.
