Kenijski maratonac Titus Ekiru (31) suspendiran je na deset godina zbog pozitivnog nalaza na dopinškom pregledu te korištenja lažne medicinske dokumentacije, objavila je Jedinica za integritet atletike (AIU).
Šesti najbrži maratonac svih vremena dvaput je bio pozitivan na zabranjene tvari tijekom 2021. godine. Prvo je u svibnju bio pozitivan na triamcinolon acetonid nakon pobjede na maratonu u Milanu, ali nije odmah optužen nakon što je tvrdio da je pozitivan test rezultat legitimnog medicinskog tretmana.
Bio je pozitivan i u studenom nakon trijumfa na maratonu u Abu Dhabiju, i tada je tvrdio da je ishod rezultat legitimnog medicinskog tretmana.
Ekiru je prije toga u dva navrata od jednog kenijskog liječnika primio injekcije triamcinolon acetonida tijekom nedokumentiranih posjeta bolnici. Svjetska antidopinška agencija zabranila je triamcinolon još 2014. jer pomaže sportašima da izgube težinu bez značajnog gubitka snage.
Ekiru je dokumente predao Jedinici za atletski integritet (AIU) kao dio svoje početne obrane, ali dokazi višeg medicinskog dužnosnika vlade okruga Nandi u Keniji pomogli su da se dokaže da su bolnički kartoni lažirani.
Slučaj je ponovno otvoren prošle godine nakon čega je privremeno suspendiran. U srpnju, suočen s značajnim dokazima protiv njega, Ekiru je odustao od žalbe. AIU je okončao svoj disciplinski postupak i u ponedjeljak donio odluku o kazni.
AIU je izrekao četverogodišnju kaznu zbog kršenja antidopinških pravila, povećanu za dodatne dvije godine za "otegotne okolnosti". Također, je izdao zasebnu četverogodišnju zabranu zbog "petljanja" s dokazima i naredio da se dvije suspenzije služe uzastopno, ukupno 10 godina.
Liječnik koji je bio u dosluhu s Ekiruom, a koji nije imenovan, upućen je kaznenim vlastima u Keniji na daljnju istragu.
"Sportaš je počinio višestruka kršenja antidopinških pravila, sudjelovao u obmanjujućem ili opstruktivnom ponašanju kako bi izbjegao otkrivanje ili donošenje presude o kršenju antidopinških pravila i sudjelovao u petljanju tijekom upravljanja rezultatima," navodi AIU.
"Nigerijske vlasti sada rade zajedno na otkrivanju dopinga u kenijskoj atletici i razotkrivanju mreže koje bi mogla biti umiješana. Za sportaše uključene u doping i pratnju koja im pomaže, postoji jedna snažna poruka iz ovog slučaja - nemate se gdje sakriti."

Kenijski maratonac Titus Ekiru (31) suspendiran je na deset godina zbog pozitivnog nalaza na dopinškom pregledu te korištenja lažne medicinske dokumentacije, objavila je Jedinica za integritet atletike (AIU).
Šesti najbrži maratonac svih vremena dvaput je bio pozitivan na zabranjene tvari tijekom 2021. godine. Prvo je u svibnju bio pozitivan na triamcinolon acetonid nakon pobjede na maratonu u Milanu, ali nije odmah optužen nakon što je tvrdio da je pozitivan test rezultat legitimnog medicinskog tretmana.
Bio je pozitivan i u studenom nakon trijumfa na maratonu u Abu Dhabiju, i tada je tvrdio da je ishod rezultat legitimnog medicinskog tretmana.
Ekiru je prije toga u dva navrata od jednog kenijskog liječnika primio injekcije triamcinolon acetonida tijekom nedokumentiranih posjeta bolnici. Svjetska antidopinška agencija zabranila je triamcinolon još 2014. jer pomaže sportašima da izgube težinu bez značajnog gubitka snage.
Ekiru je dokumente predao Jedinici za atletski integritet (AIU) kao dio svoje početne obrane, ali dokazi višeg medicinskog dužnosnika vlade okruga Nandi u Keniji pomogli su da se dokaže da su bolnički kartoni lažirani.
Slučaj je ponovno otvoren prošle godine nakon čega je privremeno suspendiran. U srpnju, suočen s značajnim dokazima protiv njega, Ekiru je odustao od žalbe. AIU je okončao svoj disciplinski postupak i u ponedjeljak donio odluku o kazni.
AIU je izrekao četverogodišnju kaznu zbog kršenja antidopinških pravila, povećanu za dodatne dvije godine za "otegotne okolnosti". Također, je izdao zasebnu četverogodišnju zabranu zbog "petljanja" s dokazima i naredio da se dvije suspenzije služe uzastopno, ukupno 10 godina.
Liječnik koji je bio u dosluhu s Ekiruom, a koji nije imenovan, upućen je kaznenim vlastima u Keniji na daljnju istragu.
"Sportaš je počinio višestruka kršenja antidopinških pravila, sudjelovao u obmanjujućem ili opstruktivnom ponašanju kako bi izbjegao otkrivanje ili donošenje presude o kršenju antidopinških pravila i sudjelovao u petljanju tijekom upravljanja rezultatima," navodi AIU.
"Nigerijske vlasti sada rade zajedno na otkrivanju dopinga u kenijskoj atletici i razotkrivanju mreže koje bi mogla biti umiješana. Za sportaše uključene u doping i pratnju koja im pomaže, postoji jedna snažna poruka iz ovog slučaja - nemate se gdje sakriti."
