Organizaciju jednog od najvećih svjetskih manifestacija – Olimpijske igre u Londonu - potresa prvi korupcijski skandal, koji navodno tereti predstavništvo Azerbajdžana da je već sada osiguralo zlatna odličja svojim nacionalnim predstavnicima.
Dok su OI ljetos bile upitne zbog neviđenih nemira u Velikoj Britaniji pa je postojala opravdana opasnost od kašnjenja radova, ovoga puta radi se o puno manjim posljedicama za budućnost Igara, ali ne i za njihov javni prestiž.
Prema ekskluzivnoj priči programa “Newsnight”, a kako prenosi BBC, višemilijunske iznose uplatio je Azerbajdžanski olimpijski odbor na račun Međunarodne amaterske boksačke asocijacije.
Novac je navodno plaćen kako bi zlatna odličja iz boksa dopala Azerbajdžancima, uzimajući u obzir da su u ovoj olimpijskoj disciplini upravo sudačke procjene od najvećeg značenja.
Interna istraga
- Odmah ćemo provesti internu istragu – za BBC je potvrdio dr. Ching Kuo, kurtoazno zahvaljujući za informaciju koja mu je, kako je rekao, bila prvi glas.
Međutim, korupcijske afere oko boksa nisu novina, ali najveći incidenti vežu se uz sada već davnu prošlost i turbulentnija politička vremena poput seulskih OI iz 1988. kada je predstavnik Južne Koreje Park Si-Hun pobijedio s presudom tri naprema dva. Iako je njegov protivnik Roy Jones bio višestruko bolji, što su potvrdile i statistike s valoriziranjem 86-32, Si-Hun je bio nagrađen zlatnim odličjem.
Sumnju u cijelu situaciju dodatno povećava i iznenadna odluka prema kojoj se Svjetsko prvenstvo u boksu iz Južne Koreje premješta u azerbajdžanski Azeri. S druge pak strane Ching Kuo Wu, predsjednik Boksačke federacije, istaknuo je kako se žestoko bore protiv korupcije te im je cilj iskorijeniti je u potpunosti.
- Volio bih da znate koliko truda sam uložio da očistimo cijelu kuću od korupcije. Četiri zamjenika predsjednika, glavni tajnik, šest članova izvršnog odbora, svi su izopćeni zbog sumnji u slične aktivnosti. Jamčim vam da se boksačka federacija bori protiv korupcije, kao i ostale međunarodne sportske organizacije.

Organizaciju jednog od najvećih svjetskih manifestacija – Olimpijske igre u Londonu - potresa prvi korupcijski skandal, koji navodno tereti predstavništvo Azerbajdžana da je već sada osiguralo zlatna odličja svojim nacionalnim predstavnicima.
Dok su OI ljetos bile upitne zbog neviđenih nemira u Velikoj Britaniji pa je postojala opravdana opasnost od kašnjenja radova, ovoga puta radi se o puno manjim posljedicama za budućnost Igara, ali ne i za njihov javni prestiž.
Prema ekskluzivnoj priči programa “Newsnight”, a kako prenosi BBC, višemilijunske iznose uplatio je Azerbajdžanski olimpijski odbor na račun Međunarodne amaterske boksačke asocijacije.
Novac je navodno plaćen kako bi zlatna odličja iz boksa dopala Azerbajdžancima, uzimajući u obzir da su u ovoj olimpijskoj disciplini upravo sudačke procjene od najvećeg značenja.
Interna istraga
- Odmah ćemo provesti internu istragu – za BBC je potvrdio dr. Ching Kuo, kurtoazno zahvaljujući za informaciju koja mu je, kako je rekao, bila prvi glas.
Međutim, korupcijske afere oko boksa nisu novina, ali najveći incidenti vežu se uz sada već davnu prošlost i turbulentnija politička vremena poput seulskih OI iz 1988. kada je predstavnik Južne Koreje Park Si-Hun pobijedio s presudom tri naprema dva. Iako je njegov protivnik Roy Jones bio višestruko bolji, što su potvrdile i statistike s valoriziranjem 86-32, Si-Hun je bio nagrađen zlatnim odličjem.
Sumnju u cijelu situaciju dodatno povećava i iznenadna odluka prema kojoj se Svjetsko prvenstvo u boksu iz Južne Koreje premješta u azerbajdžanski Azeri. S druge pak strane Ching Kuo Wu, predsjednik Boksačke federacije, istaknuo je kako se žestoko bore protiv korupcije te im je cilj iskorijeniti je u potpunosti.
- Volio bih da znate koliko truda sam uložio da očistimo cijelu kuću od korupcije. Četiri zamjenika predsjednika, glavni tajnik, šest članova izvršnog odbora, svi su izopćeni zbog sumnji u slične aktivnosti. Jamčim vam da se boksačka federacija bori protiv korupcije, kao i ostale međunarodne sportske organizacije.
