Devet kubanskih bejzbolaša prebjeglo je tijekom Svjetskog U-23 prvenstva koje je održano u Meksiku u jednom od najvećih prebjega kubanskih sportaša posljednjih godina.

Kubanske vlasti potvrdile su kako je devet igrača koji su predstavljali državu na SP-u prebjeglo i nije se vratilo kući iz Meksika.

U priopćenju koje je objavio web portal JIT, kubanski dužnosnici su potez prebjega opisali kao "podlo napuštanje zemlje".

Ostatak ekipe, koja je prvobitno imala 24 igrača vratio se na Kubu gdje im je organiziran doček.

"Unatoč poteškoćama s kojima ste bili suočeni, brojnim pritiscima i prljavom igrom, hrabro ste se borili," kazao je Raul Fornés Valenciano, dopredsjednik Nacionalnog instituta za sport, tjelesni odgoj i rekreaciju (Inder).

Kuba je na koncu bil četvrta, nakon što je u borbi za broncu izgubil od Kolumbije sa 3-5. Zlato je osvojila Venezuela pobjedom protiv Meksika.

Američka bejzbolska liga (MLB) i Kuba intenzivno su pregovarali o sporazumu o transferu igrača za vrijeme Obamine administracije. Međutim, dogovor koji je kubanskim igračima omogućio potpisivanje ugovora s klubovima MLB lige poništio je predsjednik Donald Trump u travnju 2019. godine, samo pet mjeseci nakon što je usvojen, kako bi izvršio pritisak na komunističku vladu.

Sporazum je značio da sportaši više ne moraju bježati i ilegalno napuštati Kubu.

Devet kubanskih bejzbolaša prebjeglo je tijekom Svjetskog U-23 prvenstva koje je održano u Meksiku u jednom od najvećih prebjega kubanskih sportaša posljednjih godina.

Kubanske vlasti potvrdile su kako je devet igrača koji su predstavljali državu na SP-u prebjeglo i nije se vratilo kući iz Meksika.

U priopćenju koje je objavio web portal JIT, kubanski dužnosnici su potez prebjega opisali kao "podlo napuštanje zemlje".

Ostatak ekipe, koja je prvobitno imala 24 igrača vratio se na Kubu gdje im je organiziran doček.

"Unatoč poteškoćama s kojima ste bili suočeni, brojnim pritiscima i prljavom igrom, hrabro ste se borili," kazao je Raul Fornés Valenciano, dopredsjednik Nacionalnog instituta za sport, tjelesni odgoj i rekreaciju (Inder).

Kuba je na koncu bil četvrta, nakon što je u borbi za broncu izgubil od Kolumbije sa 3-5. Zlato je osvojila Venezuela pobjedom protiv Meksika.

Američka bejzbolska liga (MLB) i Kuba intenzivno su pregovarali o sporazumu o transferu igrača za vrijeme Obamine administracije. Međutim, dogovor koji je kubanskim igračima omogućio potpisivanje ugovora s klubovima MLB lige poništio je predsjednik Donald Trump u travnju 2019. godine, samo pet mjeseci nakon što je usvojen, kako bi izvršio pritisak na komunističku vladu.

Sporazum je značio da sportaši više ne moraju bježati i ilegalno napuštati Kubu.

Devet kubanskih bejzbolaša prebjeglo je tijekom Svjetskog U-23 prvenstva koje je održano u Meksiku u jednom od najvećih prebjega kubanskih sportaša posljednjih godina.

Kubanske vlasti potvrdile su kako je devet igrača koji su predstavljali državu na SP-u prebjeglo i nije se vratilo kući iz Meksika.

U priopćenju koje je objavio web portal JIT, kubanski dužnosnici su potez prebjega opisali kao "podlo napuštanje zemlje".

Ostatak ekipe, koja je prvobitno imala 24 igrača vratio se na Kubu gdje im je organiziran doček.

"Unatoč poteškoćama s kojima ste bili suočeni, brojnim pritiscima i prljavom igrom, hrabro ste se borili," kazao je Raul Fornés Valenciano, dopredsjednik Nacionalnog instituta za sport, tjelesni odgoj i rekreaciju (Inder).
