Bilo je to prvo, nadamo se ne i zadnje hrvatsko finale u Rimu. Duje Draganja bio je u šestoj stazi, u društvu osam najboljih na svijetu u disciplini 50 metara leptir.

Start finala bio je u 18.53, a koji trenutak prije kamerman talijanske televizije 'snimio' je na tribinama Foro Italica nogometnog idola Rima, Francesca Tottija, kapetana Rome.

To(tti), plus ulaza finalista podigao je sve na noge. Start. Niti pola minute poslije Srbin Milorad Čavić slavio je naslov svjetskog prvaka, a Duje Draganja je prvi krenuo prema mix zoni. Plivao je 23.10. te zauzeo osmo mjesto.

Plivao sam pod vodom. Ramena su mi bila pod vodom. Pogreška je bila što sam ušao u broj manji kostim. To me koštalo. Ramena mi nisu bila fleksibilna. I to je bilo to – onako na prvu, bez da je pričekao pitanja novinara će Splićanin. Koju sekundu poslije nastavio je osvrt na finale.

Ne bi želio svu krivnju baciti na odabir manjeg kostima, ali definitivno se nisam osjećao tako dobro u bazenu kao prvi dan.

Zašto je Duje odabrao taj manji kostim? Zašto? Nije želio više o tome i na tu temu.

Finale može otići na jedenu ili drugu stranu. Meni je ovo osmo mjesto udarac jer sam očekivao puno bolje, jer znam kako mogu bolje. Boli jer znam da je problem u meni. Iskreno, nije važna medalja. Govorio sam još od prve kvalifikacijske trke kako mogu plivati ispod 23 sekunde. Jednostavno danas stvari nisu sjele na svoje mjesto

Krenuo je prema izlazu. Opet je zastao na trenutak.

- Meni cilj nije bio biti ni prvi, ni osmi. Cilj mi je bio otplivati svoje najbolje vrijeme, i to nisam ostvario. Nije ovo bio moj stil. Moja tehnika. Na rasplivavanju je sve bilo drugačije. Bolje. Ali, leptir je neprdvidiv. Odlučivalo se u zadnjem zaveslaju, to sam rekao. Tako je i bilo. Prvi dan sam se puno bolje osjećao u bazenu za vrijeme trke.

Nakon tih riječi je otišao. Vidjet ćemo ga ponovno u srijedu. Na rasporedu su kvalifikacije na 100 slobodno. Finale je u četvrtak. U subotu je start 50 slobodno. Posljednjeg dana SP-a, u nedjelju, 2. kolovoza se u toj disciplini dijele medalje.

Cilj mi je u obje discipline ući u finale, a tada je sve otvoreno – dodat će Draganja. Osmo mjesto u finalu 50 leptir je za njega prošlost. Okrenut je novim nastupima u Rimu. Za nadati se i novom nastupu u finalu. Možda i novoj medalji.

Zar već nije uzeo dvije srebrne, svjetsku u Montrealu te olimpijsku u Ateni. Obje na 50 slobodno.

Bilo je to prvo, nadamo se ne i zadnje hrvatsko finale u Rimu. Duje Draganja bio je u šestoj stazi, u društvu osam najboljih na svijetu u disciplini 50 metara leptir.

Start finala bio je u 18.53, a koji trenutak prije kamerman talijanske televizije 'snimio' je na tribinama Foro Italica nogometnog idola Rima, Francesca Tottija, kapetana Rome.

To(tti), plus ulaza finalista podigao je sve na noge. Start. Niti pola minute poslije Srbin Milorad Čavić slavio je naslov svjetskog prvaka, a Duje Draganja je prvi krenuo prema mix zoni. Plivao je 23.10. te zauzeo osmo mjesto.

Plivao sam pod vodom. Ramena su mi bila pod vodom. Pogreška je bila što sam ušao u broj manji kostim. To me koštalo. Ramena mi nisu bila fleksibilna. I to je bilo to – onako na prvu, bez da je pričekao pitanja novinara će Splićanin. Koju sekundu poslije nastavio je osvrt na finale.

Ne bi želio svu krivnju baciti na odabir manjeg kostima, ali definitivno se nisam osjećao tako dobro u bazenu kao prvi dan.

Zašto je Duje odabrao taj manji kostim? Zašto? Nije želio više o tome i na tu temu.

Finale može otići na jedenu ili drugu stranu. Meni je ovo osmo mjesto udarac jer sam očekivao puno bolje, jer znam kako mogu bolje. Boli jer znam da je problem u meni. Iskreno, nije važna medalja. Govorio sam još od prve kvalifikacijske trke kako mogu plivati ispod 23 sekunde. Jednostavno danas stvari nisu sjele na svoje mjesto

Krenuo je prema izlazu. Opet je zastao na trenutak.

- Meni cilj nije bio biti ni prvi, ni osmi. Cilj mi je bio otplivati svoje najbolje vrijeme, i to nisam ostvario. Nije ovo bio moj stil. Moja tehnika. Na rasplivavanju je sve bilo drugačije. Bolje. Ali, leptir je neprdvidiv. Odlučivalo se u zadnjem zaveslaju, to sam rekao. Tako je i bilo. Prvi dan sam se puno bolje osjećao u bazenu za vrijeme trke.

Nakon tih riječi je otišao. Vidjet ćemo ga ponovno u srijedu. Na rasporedu su kvalifikacije na 100 slobodno. Finale je u četvrtak. U subotu je start 50 slobodno. Posljednjeg dana SP-a, u nedjelju, 2. kolovoza se u toj disciplini dijele medalje.

Cilj mi je u obje discipline ući u finale, a tada je sve otvoreno – dodat će Draganja. Osmo mjesto u finalu 50 leptir je za njega prošlost. Okrenut je novim nastupima u Rimu. Za nadati se i novom nastupu u finalu. Možda i novoj medalji.

Zar već nije uzeo dvije srebrne, svjetsku u Montrealu te olimpijsku u Ateni. Obje na 50 slobodno.
