Centar Los Angeles Lakersa Dwight Howard poručio je kako nije vrijeme za igru nakon što je smrt Georgea Floyda prošlog mjeseca zapalila prosvjede protiv rasne nepravde.

"Košarka ili zabava u ovom trenutku nisu potrebni, bit će im samo distrakcija", kazao je Howard u razgovoru za CNN.

"Ne bih volio ništa više nego osvojiti svoju prvu titulu. Međutim, jedinstvo mog naroda bila bi veća pobjeda. Ne trebamo igrati dok se ova situacija ne riješi. Sada je vrijeme da se fokusiramo na naše obitelji. Ovo je rijetka prilika koju, vjerujem, mi kao zajednica trebamo u potpunosti iskoristiti," dodao je.

Howard je naglasio kako u ovom trenutku nije vrijeme za košarku.

"Vrijeme je da naše obitelji postanu vlastite nacije. Nema košarke dok ne riješimo stvari," istaknuo je centar Lakersa podržavši ideju zvijezde Brooklyn Netsa Kyriea Irvinga da igrači bojkotiraju nastavak NBA sezone u znak borbe protiv rasizma.

"Slažem se s Kyriejem," poručio je Howard.

Irving se prema navodima američkih medija usprotivio predloženom planu nastavka NBA sezone te je na video konferenciji na kojoj je sudjelovalo više od 80 košarkaša predložio bojkot ostatka sezone u znak prosvjeda protiv rasizma.

"Spreman sam se odreći svega što imam kako bih se borio protiv sistemskog rasizma", poručio je Irving.

Prema planu koji je prošloga tjedna usvojilo vodstvo lige, NBA sezona bi se trebala nastaviti 31. srpnja u Orlandu.

Doigravanje bi počelo u istom gradu 17. kolovoza, veliki finale bi trebao početi 30. rujna i trajati najkasnije do 12. listopada. Klubovi bi prije nastavka sezone prekinute 11. ožujka zbog izbijanja pandemije koronavirusa trebali održati i trening-kampove također na Floridi od 9. do 29. srpnja.

Tijekom stanke u NBA ligi 25. svibnja u Minneapolisu je smrtno stradao tamnoputi Amerikanac George Floyd kao žrtva policijske brutalnosti što je za posljedicu imalo velike prosvjede protiv rasne nejednakosti diljem SAD-a koji su se proširili i na ostatak svijeta i osnivanje pokreta Black Lives Matter (Crni životi vrijede).

Centar Los Angeles Lakersa Dwight Howard poručio je kako nije vrijeme za igru nakon što je smrt Georgea Floyda prošlog mjeseca zapalila prosvjede protiv rasne nepravde.

"Košarka ili zabava u ovom trenutku nisu potrebni, bit će im samo distrakcija", kazao je Howard u razgovoru za CNN.

"Ne bih volio ništa više nego osvojiti svoju prvu titulu. Međutim, jedinstvo mog naroda bila bi veća pobjeda. Ne trebamo igrati dok se ova situacija ne riješi. Sada je vrijeme da se fokusiramo na naše obitelji. Ovo je rijetka prilika koju, vjerujem, mi kao zajednica trebamo u potpunosti iskoristiti," dodao je.

Howard je naglasio kako u ovom trenutku nije vrijeme za košarku.

"Vrijeme je da naše obitelji postanu vlastite nacije. Nema košarke dok ne riješimo stvari," istaknuo je centar Lakersa podržavši ideju zvijezde Brooklyn Netsa Kyriea Irvinga da igrači bojkotiraju nastavak NBA sezone u znak borbe protiv rasizma.

"Slažem se s Kyriejem," poručio je Howard.

Irving se prema navodima američkih medija usprotivio predloženom planu nastavka NBA sezone te je na video konferenciji na kojoj je sudjelovalo više od 80 košarkaša predložio bojkot ostatka sezone u znak prosvjeda protiv rasizma.

"Spreman sam se odreći svega što imam kako bih se borio protiv sistemskog rasizma", poručio je Irving.

Prema planu koji je prošloga tjedna usvojilo vodstvo lige, NBA sezona bi se trebala nastaviti 31. srpnja u Orlandu.

Doigravanje bi počelo u istom gradu 17. kolovoza, veliki finale bi trebao početi 30. rujna i trajati najkasnije do 12. listopada. Klubovi bi prije nastavka sezone prekinute 11. ožujka zbog izbijanja pandemije koronavirusa trebali održati i trening-kampove također na Floridi od 9. do 29. srpnja.

Tijekom stanke u NBA ligi 25. svibnja u Minneapolisu je smrtno stradao tamnoputi Amerikanac George Floyd kao žrtva policijske brutalnosti što je za posljedicu imalo velike prosvjede protiv rasne nejednakosti diljem SAD-a koji su se proširili i na ostatak svijeta i osnivanje pokreta Black Lives Matter (Crni životi vrijede).

Centar Los Angeles Lakersa Dwight Howard poručio je kako nije vrijeme za igru nakon što je smrt Georgea Floyda prošlog mjeseca zapalila prosvjede protiv rasne nepravde.

"Košarka ili zabava u ovom trenutku nisu potrebni, bit će im samo distrakcija", kazao je Howard u razgovoru za CNN.

"Ne bih volio ništa više nego osvojiti svoju prvu titulu. Međutim, jedinstvo mog naroda bila bi veća pobjeda. Ne trebamo igrati dok se ova situacija ne riješi. Sada je vrijeme da se fokusiramo na naše obitelji. Ovo je rijetka prilika koju, vjerujem, mi kao zajednica trebamo u potpunosti iskoristiti," dodao je.

Howard je naglasio kako u ovom trenutku nije vrijeme za košarku.
