Stoke City još ne zna što ga čeka! Nije riječ o Hajdukovim igračima, ni taktici koju sprema trener Krasimir Balakov, pa čak ni o vrućemu grotlu poljudske atmosfere. Englezi bi prije svega trebali strepjeti od budućnosti, od onoga što im slijedi u godinama koje predstoje nakon europskih ogleda s "bijelima".
Od zle sudbine kakva je već zadesila brojne Hajdukove europske protivnike.
Krenimo redom. Prošle sezone iz talijanske je Serie A ispala Sampdoria, a isto se dogodilo i Deportivu u španjolskoj Primeri. Oba kluba ne tako davno su bili veliki i u europskim razmjerima, no nedugo nakon što su iz Europe izbacili Hajduka doživjeli su pad u drugu ligu.
Kad su im kuglice ždrijeba dodijelile Splićane, vjerojatno se nisu previše brinuli, bili su uvjereni u prolaz. I bili su u pravu, Sampdoria je 2007. godine prošla "bijele" nakon pobjede 1:0 na Poljudu i 1:1 u Genovi, a Deportivo je godinu kasnije nakon 0:0 u La Coruni u Splitu slavio s 2:0.
Međutim, nisu bili svjesni što ih čeka. Efekt "prokletstva zvanog Hajduk" nije ih odmah snašao, Sampdoria je prije godinu dana bila nadomak Lige prvaka, no nisu mogli pobjeći od zle sudbine. Eliminacija Hajduka se i njima i Deportivu "obila" o glavu ovoga ljeta, snašla ih je nevolja potonuća u niži razred.
Nisu samo oni koji su izbacili "bijele" doživjeli nevolje, neke nije spasilo ni ispadanje. Najbolji primjer je rumunjska Unirea, koja je, nakon ispadanja od Hajduka prošloga ljeta, nepunih godinu dana poslije prestala postojati!
Nakon što su zbog nagomilanih dugova bili prisiljeni prodati najbolje igrače, su ispali u drugu ligu, za koju se nisu ni prijavili, već je klub ugašen.
Primjera ima još. Na primjer, Shelbourne je eliminacijom Hajduka u ljeto 2004. godine postigao najveći uspjeh u povijesti, prvi put je neki irski klub prošao u treće pretkolo Lige prvaka. No, nije dugo trebalo čekati na probleme. Godine 2006. postali su prvaci Irske, ali zbog financijskih problema izbačeni su u drugu ligu.
Otada su stalno u vrhu tog ranga natjecanja, no još uvijek se nisu uspjeli vratiti u elitni razred.
Ovo su recentni primjeri, oni iz 21. stoljeća. Nećemo zagledati daleko u povijest, premda je sličnih primjera bilo još dosta: Torpedo Moskva, Dunaferr, Ferencvaros...
U Stokeu zasigurno ne znaju za ove podatke, no kada bi saznali sigurno bi se itekako zabrinuli. Više od trećega pretkola Europske lige brinula bi ih budućnost, pa čak i opstanak kluba!

Stoke City još ne zna što ga čeka! Nije riječ o Hajdukovim igračima, ni taktici koju sprema trener Krasimir Balakov, pa čak ni o vrućemu grotlu poljudske atmosfere. Englezi bi prije svega trebali strepjeti od budućnosti, od onoga što im slijedi u godinama koje predstoje nakon europskih ogleda s "bijelima".
Od zle sudbine kakva je već zadesila brojne Hajdukove europske protivnike.
Krenimo redom. Prošle sezone iz talijanske je Serie A ispala Sampdoria, a isto se dogodilo i Deportivu u španjolskoj Primeri. Oba kluba ne tako davno su bili veliki i u europskim razmjerima, no nedugo nakon što su iz Europe izbacili Hajduka doživjeli su pad u drugu ligu.
Kad su im kuglice ždrijeba dodijelile Splićane, vjerojatno se nisu previše brinuli, bili su uvjereni u prolaz. I bili su u pravu, Sampdoria je 2007. godine prošla "bijele" nakon pobjede 1:0 na Poljudu i 1:1 u Genovi, a Deportivo je godinu kasnije nakon 0:0 u La Coruni u Splitu slavio s 2:0.
Međutim, nisu bili svjesni što ih čeka. Efekt "prokletstva zvanog Hajduk" nije ih odmah snašao, Sampdoria je prije godinu dana bila nadomak Lige prvaka, no nisu mogli pobjeći od zle sudbine. Eliminacija Hajduka se i njima i Deportivu "obila" o glavu ovoga ljeta, snašla ih je nevolja potonuća u niži razred.
Nisu samo oni koji su izbacili "bijele" doživjeli nevolje, neke nije spasilo ni ispadanje. Najbolji primjer je rumunjska Unirea, koja je, nakon ispadanja od Hajduka prošloga ljeta, nepunih godinu dana poslije prestala postojati!
Nakon što su zbog nagomilanih dugova bili prisiljeni prodati najbolje igrače, su ispali u drugu ligu, za koju se nisu ni prijavili, već je klub ugašen.
Primjera ima još. Na primjer, Shelbourne je eliminacijom Hajduka u ljeto 2004. godine postigao najveći uspjeh u povijesti, prvi put je neki irski klub prošao u treće pretkolo Lige prvaka. No, nije dugo trebalo čekati na probleme. Godine 2006. postali su prvaci Irske, ali zbog financijskih problema izbačeni su u drugu ligu.
Otada su stalno u vrhu tog ranga natjecanja, no još uvijek se nisu uspjeli vratiti u elitni razred.
Ovo su recentni primjeri, oni iz 21. stoljeća. Nećemo zagledati daleko u povijest, premda je sličnih primjera bilo još dosta: Torpedo Moskva, Dunaferr, Ferencvaros...
U Stokeu zasigurno ne znaju za ove podatke, no kada bi saznali sigurno bi se itekako zabrinuli. Više od trećega pretkola Europske lige brinula bi ih budućnost, pa čak i opstanak kluba!

Torpedo Moskva – izbacili Hajduka 1996., ispali iz lige 2006., u treću ligu potonuli 2008.
Dunaferr – izbacili Hajduka 2000., ispali iz lige 2003., prestali postojati 2009.
Ferencvaros – izbacili Hajduka 2001., zbog dugova izbačeni iz lige 2006. (vratili se 2009.)
