Željko Mijač nas je napustio, vijest je šokirala njegove suigrače, prijatelje. Tuguje nogometni Split, a igrao je i za Hajduk i za Split, tuguje i Rijeka kojoj je podario nekoliko sezona, otac mu je živio u Rijeci pa je spletom okolnosti svjedobno Željko iz Hajduka otišao i u Rijeku...
Rijetki su znali da je posljednjih dana bio u bolnici, nismo slutili da je toliko teško.
I onda šok, Luka Peruzović u svom Waterloou kraj Bruxellesa samo se smrznuo kad je vidio vijest na portalima, na trenutak zanijemio:
- A kako... Bili smo cijeli život zajedno, rasli smo skupa. Igrali najveće utakmice za Hajduk. On je doduše kasnije otišao u Rijeku, ali smo se sreli opet u Hajduku, sad u Poljudu i kad sam preuzeo prvu momčad povukao sam ga iz omladinskog pogona da mi bude pomoćnik. Znao sam kakve sve kvalitete ima, sjajan čovjek i suradnik. Išli smo i u trenersku školu zajedno, u Sarajevu, ta je onda bila na glasu, pa smo zajedno radili u Saudijskoj Arabiji u Al Ahliju, u Al Saddu iz Katara i ja sam ga uzeo da mi bude pomoćnik kao izborniku Bahreina, on je vodio mladu reprezentaciju. Za jedan pogodak nismo otišli na Svjetsko prvenstvo... Bio je dugo i svuda i uz Ivića. A to je sad povijest, uspomene, kad svratim u Split uvijek bismo se družili, volio je Pjacu, Rivu, Meje, svoj Zvončac, bit na Jadrana, imali smo toliko toga zajedničkog. Moj Cico (zastao je)... Znalac, prijatelj, suradnik. Suigrač. Pomoćnik. Šta da vam još kažem, sućut cijeloj njegovoj dragoj obitelji kojoj je bio privržen. Znamo se od 1965. – pričao nam je Luka Peruzović.
Nikša Bavčević, trener u Veveyu, iz svijeta košarke, dakako, ali hajdukovac koji voli i pozna nogomet, imao je u Mijaču prijatelja iz djetinjstva:
- Posebno nam je bilo lijepo kad smo zajedno radili u Belgiji, u Liegeu, on je u Belgiji ostvario izvrsne rezultate i to su bila vremena kad bismo se našli zajedno u Liegeu redovito na večeri, jednom tjedno, familija Ivić, familija Mijač, familija dra Nebojše Popovića, glasovitog rukometaša koji je tamo radio u bolnici kao liječnik i moja familija. E, to su bile priče i druženja, nezaboravno - Nikša Bavčević nema nego da nam plače u slušalicu.
Još jedan hajdukovac, emotivac, teška srca se rastaje s Mijačem:
- Znao sam da je u bolnici i priča sam s njim nedavno, rekao mi je da se osjeća dobro i da će ga uskoro pustit... Cico je jedan od najpoštenijih ljudi koje sam poznavao, iskren i pošten, suradnik i čovik i suigrač samo takav. Živio je familijaran sportski život, bez duhana, bez poroka... Bio je posvećen obitelji, mogli ste ga srest i u redovnoj šetnji svakog dana, trefit po Rivi, ako nije imao kakav angažman... Ka' igrač? On je davao puno golova glavom, imao je izvanredan skok, a tehnički je bio potkovan. Doveo ga je barba Biće Mladinić s Prokurativa, tamo je igra' balun, tako se skautiralo u ono vrime po Splitu. A i stanovao je tu, na Prokurativama, pa di ćeš bolje nego igrat balun isprid kuće. Mi bismo znali doć svi u njega doma, pa gori s prozora gledat Splitski festival – prisjeća se Mužinić. - Bome pogodilo me, puno, dobro me streslo...
Pokop Željka Mijača bit će u četvrtak 17. veljače u 15 sati na splitskom groblju Lovrinac.

Željko Mijač nas je napustio, vijest je šokirala njegove suigrače, prijatelje. Tuguje nogometni Split, a igrao je i za Hajduk i za Split, tuguje i Rijeka kojoj je podario nekoliko sezona, otac mu je živio u Rijeci pa je spletom okolnosti svjedobno Željko iz Hajduka otišao i u Rijeku...
Rijetki su znali da je posljednjih dana bio u bolnici, nismo slutili da je toliko teško.

- A kako... Bili smo cijeli život zajedno, rasli smo skupa. Igrali najveće utakmice za Hajduk. On je doduše kasnije otišao u Rijeku, ali smo se sreli opet u Hajduku, sad u Poljudu i kad sam preuzeo prvu momčad povukao sam ga iz omladinskog pogona da mi bude pomoćnik. Znao sam kakve sve kvalitete ima, sjajan čovjek i suradnik. Išli smo i u trenersku školu zajedno, u Sarajevu, ta je onda bila na glasu, pa smo zajedno radili u Saudijskoj Arabiji u Al Ahliju, u Al Saddu iz Katara i ja sam ga uzeo da mi bude pomoćnik kao izborniku Bahreina, on je vodio mladu reprezentaciju. Za jedan pogodak nismo otišli na Svjetsko prvenstvo... Bio je dugo i svuda i uz Ivića. A to je sad povijest, uspomene, kad svratim u Split uvijek bismo se družili, volio je Pjacu, Rivu, Meje, svoj Zvončac, bit na Jadrana, imali smo toliko toga zajedničkog. Moj Cico (zastao je)... Znalac, prijatelj, suradnik. Suigrač. Pomoćnik. Šta da vam još kažem, sućut cijeloj njegovoj dragoj obitelji kojoj je bio privržen. Znamo se od 1965. – pričao nam je Luka Peruzović.
Nikša Bavčević, trener u Veveyu, iz svijeta košarke, dakako, ali hajdukovac koji voli i pozna nogomet, imao je u Mijaču prijatelja iz djetinjstva:
- Posebno nam je bilo lijepo kad smo zajedno radili u Belgiji, u Liegeu, on je u Belgiji ostvario izvrsne rezultate i to su bila vremena kad bismo se našli zajedno u Liegeu redovito na večeri, jednom tjedno, familija Ivić, familija Mijač, familija dra Nebojše Popovića, glasovitog rukometaša koji je tamo radio u bolnici kao liječnik i moja familija. E, to su bile priče i druženja, nezaboravno - Nikša Bavčević nema nego da nam plače u slušalicu.
Još jedan hajdukovac, emotivac, teška srca se rastaje s Mijačem:
- Znao sam da je u bolnici i priča sam s njim nedavno, rekao mi je da se osjeća dobro i da će ga uskoro pustit... Cico je jedan od najpoštenijih ljudi koje sam poznavao, iskren i pošten, suradnik i čovik i suigrač samo takav. Živio je familijaran sportski život, bez duhana, bez poroka... Bio je posvećen obitelji, mogli ste ga srest i u redovnoj šetnji svakog dana, trefit po Rivi, ako nije imao kakav angažman... Ka' igrač? On je davao puno golova glavom, imao je izvanredan skok, a tehnički je bio potkovan. Doveo ga je barba Biće Mladinić s Prokurativa, tamo je igra' balun, tako se skautiralo u ono vrime po Splitu. A i stanovao je tu, na Prokurativama, pa di ćeš bolje nego igrat balun isprid kuće. Mi bismo znali doć svi u njega doma, pa gori s prozora gledat Splitski festival – prisjeća se Mužinić. - Bome pogodilo me, puno, dobro me streslo...
Pokop Željka Mijača bit će u četvrtak 17. veljače u 15 sati na splitskom groblju Lovrinac.
